College marks 100% pass rate for sixth successive year
Yeovil College’s Kingston Sixth Form Centre is celebrating outstanding A Level results, despite another disrupted year and changes to the exam process. For the sixth consecutive year, Yeovil College has achieved an impressive 100% pass rate with almost a third of students gaining top grades. In addition, 12% of students were awarded straight A* and A grades. The majority of Yeovil College students have also secured their firstchoice destination and university choices, including prestigious Russell Group universities. Sexey’s hails outstanding results
Sexey’s Sixth Form students are celebrating outstanding A Levels. Headteacher Helen Cullen said: “The Year 13 students have spent a significant amount of their time both in Year 12 and 13 in lockdown, with schools closed and ending their school careers virtually and online. “They have shown resilience, determination, and true independence in their approach to learning, whilst engaging fully with their teachers’ expertise, inspiration, and guidance. “The Year 13 students have worked hard and deserve their super results.” Sexey’s Sixth’s top preforming students: n Jasmine Allen gained 3 A*’s in Maths, Chemistry and Physics and is progressing to Brasenose College, University of Oxford to study Chemistry. Declan Shaw gained 3 A*’s in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, exceeding his offers and is now looking to take a gap year, reapply and study Physics next year. Belinda Luscombe gained 3 A*’s in Biology, Chemistry and Geography and A* in EPQ and is progressing to Queen Mary University of London to study Medicine. Lizzy Ingram gained Distinction* Distinction* in Sport and Exercise Science and A* in Art and is progressing to Bath University. These students are celebrating outstanding progress from their GCSEs to their A Level results: Declan Shaw gained 3 A*’s in Maths, Chemistry and Physics, exceeding his offers and is now looking to take a gap year, reapply and study Physics next year. Tiffany Cheung gained A in Maths, B in Physics and Chemistry and is progressing to University of Bristol to study Pharmacology. Lila Grapes gained A in French and Biology and B in Chemistry and is off to Newcastle University to study Pharmacy after taking a gap year. Raffy Piper gained A in Religious Studies, B in Geography and Biology and is going to University of Birmingham to study Philosophy, Religion and Ethics.
WELL DONE: Sixth formers receive their A level results n Shaftesbury School is celebrating outstanding achievements after 31% of students achieved A* and A in their A Levels and 70% of the BTEC grades were Distinction* and Distinction. Headteacher Donna London-Hill said: “We are immensely proud of all the work and achievements of our students, especially after such a difficult and disrupted year. Every grade gained today is a result of the hard work of these remarkable young people and the support they have been given by our exceptionally dedicated team. Our teachers and support staff have worked tirelessly.”
n Bruton School for Girls is celebrating after 94% of girls were awarded B or higher and 50% achieving all A/A* grades in their A Levels, with almost all heading for their first choice university. And many Sixth Form pupils also took the prestigious Leith’s Food and Wine course and achieved the highest number of distinction and merit grades awarded over the past eleven years at BSG. Headmistress Jane Evans said: “What an incredible set of results! I am beyond proud of what the girls have achieved during such a prolonged time of uncertainty due to the pandemic.
