Letter From The Editor It is a dark time...well a lot has happened in 2020 where we can all agree where if there was a reset button a lot of us would press it. With a pandemic going on, and so called leaders doing nothing about it, and not holding people accountable for murder when it comes to police brutality/racial profiling, and they still have the nerve to ask why. In these pressing times we as creatives have been active especially within the community One Love Yo! -VECtore 4 Summer 2020

HELLO my name is AURA! I’m a graffiti artist from Germany. I started about 2015. In 2016 everything fell asleep a little bit but then I was caught again and never let go again. I honestly don’t know why I started, I didn’t know anybody who paints. It was like I woke up with this idea and when I put it into my head I have to realize it. Suddenly everything developed just like that and in the meantime graffiti has taken such a big role in my life that it is impossible to imagine life without it. At the moment I’m still studying retail design and want to keep all my options open, but somehow it’s also clear that I will always paint. I am very happy about all the possibilities I have had so far and am looking forward to see where the road will take me. Somehow I find it hard to connect the whole social media thing with graffiti. I started early on to use legal graffiti, because I personally find it more relaxing to paint a wall and to take my time, so social media became relatively important for contacts and cooperation. As a girl it’s easy to get attention in the Internet and in the writer scene, but it’s more difficult to get respect for your work and not just the attention. The whole thing also stresses me a lot and it is sometimes difficult to find a balance and focus on developing new ideas and skills. When I started, I knew nothing about graffiti or art techniques so tried to teach it by myself. Luckily i got to know my boyfriend who knew many other good painters and so we exchanged more, had access to other creative people and things developed. At the beginning I noticed that especially letters and portraits are difficult for me, so I first tried the motifs that are easier for me to enjoy. But then got the ambition and especially since 8 Summer 2020
I
I
last year I tried to develop my letters and put more emphasis on an overall concept. In the meantime I am quite satisfied with my overall development and try to improve myself every day. I am looking forward to many new ideas and planned concepts, which I would like to mature and then implement. The most important thing is to practice as much as possible and not to orientate yourself too much towards others. Inspiration is often very useful but can also quickly lead to a blockage of own ideas. So just put your ideas around as best you can and don’t give up if you are not satisfied, just keep practicing. And don’t let people get you down, just take it as motivation to keep going. INSTAGRAM: aura.aerosole E-MAIL: aura.art@gmx.de

orn in 1985, I grew up in Germany as the son of an Italian mother and Đ° German father. 1998/99 I got infected with the aerosol-virus. from then on graffiti became my daily content. 2010 I started working as a freelance artist and since then i live from graffiti jobs, workshops and my art sales. Specializing in figurative painting (character painting) i have been following my spray can series on canvas for the last few years, where I work different scenarios into the body of a transparent spray can. besides the spray can images, it is often socio-critical images that make me paint my synapse chaos. The last pictures dealt with the destruction of the rainforest in Brazil and the associated displacement of animals and indigenous peoples. Besides the fine art canvases, which i work out in great detail, i enjoy it to switch off on the wall and paint my so-called freestyles without any design or idea. they mostly consist of simple, playful block letters showing my name oldhaus and a jumble of heads, architecture, animals, plants, just about everything i can think of. But why so much talking. Art is there to look at... here you can find everything i just described www. instagram.com/oldhaus1 or www.facebook.de/ oldhausone

“Some people may like it, some people may not but ultimately I try to create authentic content so all types of people can connect to it. My name is Nappy 2000, I am from Riverside California, my 2nd home is North Carolina. I am a DJ, I run my own radio show/radio host, and I am the content/ creative director for different cannabis companies I have been practicing my craft for about 3& 1/2 years now. I started when I was about 21 years old. When I was about 20 years old I would watch a lot of skateboard videos and from those videos I discovered chop & screw music by DJ screw. From there I started chopping & screwing music using a DJ program and from there I started getting into the field by Djing house parties..one major point in my career was when I knew that this could be something great was when I got invited to do a couple of shows on the smokers club tour. It was a great learning experience and it gave me a real good insight on how far I could take my music from city to city and state to state, and connect with people in every place. Some people may like it, some people may not but ultimately I try to create authentic content so all types of people can connect to it. I had to realize that nothing was going to come quick and that anything that I got I had to work really hard to get. And in doing that it increased my faith and gave me clarity that if I put myself mentally there I could get there.

One of the main things that has changed is that I trust in myself a lot more, in the process a lot more, and that when working in a team, I have to trust in my teammates and the roles that they are doing. If you love something do it but realize that whatever you love to do there are going to be trials and tribulations but best believe if you want it and want to achieve it, you can most certainly achieve that goal with a lil bit of faith and a lot of hard work. And knowing the right people ha, ha , ha. How did you get involved in the hip hop scene? I 1st got involved in 2015 when I was Djing for Matisse Marie. My 1st show ever was at the Vibe on University ave in Riverside Ca. I messed up the set really bad and the vibe at the time felt like the Apollo theatre and it only made me want to tighten up my craft only more. I think in 2020 with the current climate of the world a lot of people are understanding that there no is time for these petty beefs and small riffs. There is a lot more power when we come together and put our minds together and make something great.

How does it feel to be a co host on a radio show and what you learned from this opportunity? I actually run the show—IE radio. I’ve been doing the show since 2017. It was originally MC lyfe’s show but then he gave me the show in 2018. One of the main things I’ve learned from this opportunity is that this platform is for other people and not for myself. This is an opportunity for me to broadcast an abundance of artists to talk about who they are, what they do, their music and so on. By doing this show it has made me learn about people, and mainly appreciate the human spirit. www.Instagram.com/nappy2000 www.instagram.com/ieradio_ www.twitter.com/nappy2k 44 Summer 2020

CAUSEY
I am AJ Causey reigning from Alexandria, La., and I am primarily a songwriter for R & B and Pop artists. I write and perform hip hop/rap for my own showcases. At the end of August it will be 11 years of me practicing my craft. I’ve been performing since 2015 and writing for others since 2016. Back story on how I got started with music was simply from the hurt, pain, and frustration of getting my phone stolen one day after school. All the emotions I felt, I was able to lay them down on paper. 46 Summer 2020
“ I EXPRESS A LOT OF CHARACTER THROUGHOUT MY LYRICS” It had to be around my freshman year of college that I realized this was what I wanted. I had grown stronger in my lyrics and there was no one else that I could compare myself to. It is very different from the other sounds that you may hear where I’m from.
It is yet still accepted because it is genuinely my music. I express a lot of character throughout my lyrics by saying words in a different or weird way and I like to make exciting and hype sounds in the background of my songs. @UNTAPPED HIP HOP 47
The biggest challenge to face then and even now is getting people to stick to you, catching their attention is easy, keeping and maintaining it is a different ball game. People can like one song but even you know that you are much better than just that one song. I have evolved tremendously from being the young angry kid cursing in every line and not making much sense, now to the artist whom you hear making much more sense in his lines and hitting the lyrical standards that are expected of him each line, each verse, each song. “Seek support at all times”, is what I would tell a youngin today that is looking to launch off on this musical journey! We can’t make it fully on our own, we need some type of support even after building the foundation. IG: @cau5ey Youtube: AJ Causey 48 Summer 2020
