Explore Chester Be sure to visit the city centre if you can. Take a look at our top picks for your Applicant Day visit and see why Chester is a place you could one day call home.

Food and drink Chester’s streets are lined with cuisine from around the world, mixing well known favourites such as Knoops café, in with independent eateries. There are hidden foodie gems down side streets, and in the New Chester Market on Northgate Street.

Storyhouse Next to Chester Market and opposite the Cathedral is Storyhouse – a cultural centre containing two state-of-the-art theatres, a cinema, library, restaurant and two bars. It’s a great place to stop for a coffee and see where you could be hanging out with friends.

Chester is a beautiful historical city and its heritage, hidden gems, safety and lovely people played a key role in my decision to study at the University of Chester.

Shopping High street favourites, designer boutiques, independent gems - Chester has everything you need when it comes to shopping. As well as the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, a stroll through some of Chester’s hidden streets uncovers a host of unexpected independent shops, music venues and galleries.

Historic Sights Chester is steeped in history, and you’ll find historical treasures throughout the city – the impressive Cathedral, the iconic Eastgate Clock, the black and white Rows and the Roman Gardens. Walking the Roman walls is a great way to explore and get some incredible views over the city.

Find Your Place For more tips and student insights on Chester’s best hangouts and hidden gems, visit our exclusive guide for offer holders: chester.ac.uk/applicants

What happens next? Here’s a quick guide to confirming your place and what happens before the start of term.

Responding to offers If you haven’t already, you’ll need to respond to your university offers. You can do this, and view your deadline for responding, via UCAS Hub: accounts. ucas.com/account/login

Confirming your place If your offer of a place is conditional, you’ll need to wait until you receive your exam results in the summer before your place is confirmed. We’ll then be in touch to let you know. If you have any queries or concerns in the meantime, just get in touch with our friendly Admissions team: admissions@chester.ac.uk

Welcome information Between now and September you’ll receive regular updates from us about what you need to do at each step of the way, so keep an eye on your emails! Your official ‘welcome’ email will be sent towards the end of August and will contain lots of important information about your induction to the University.

Welcome Week For most courses, Welcome Week will start on Monday 23rd September and teaching will commence w/c 30th September.

Questions? If you think of any questions after the Applicant Day, just get in touch using the details on the back of this booklet. You can also follow @studentshoutout for all our student news and use chester.ac.uk/ask to chat to students.
