Hey has appeared on more than 125 recordings, including his own, Subduction which was named Jazz CD of the Year in 2006 by City Pages. Hey was named their Jazz Musician of the Year then as well. He has performed, toured, and recorded with many jazz greats, including Charlie Rouse, Benny Carter, Harold Land, and, for more than 20 years, Dewey Redman.
