Hey’s studies at the U of M with Marv Dahlgren and in NYC with the legendary Ed Blackwell led him to a career combining performing, recording, and teaching. Hey has appeared on more than 125 recordings, including his own, Subduction which was named Jazz CD of the Year in 2006 by City Pages. Hey was named their Jazz Musician of the Year then as well. Support Jazz Scholarships! The University of Minnesota School of Music has three scholarships and one program fund dedicated to the support of students who study jazz. Some are merit-based, while some scholarships combine merit with demonstrated financial need. Contact Jessica Waller at 612-626-5141 or jwaller@umn.edu to learn about Jazz Scholarships and ways that you can make a tax-deductible charitable gift that benefits students in our Jazz program. Special thanks to the Davis, Buckner, Peterson and Hanson families who established these funds. To our donors, one and all — thank you! 8
