BIOGRAPHIES

Marguerite Lynn Williams is the principal harpist of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Along with performing at music festivals around the world with these ensembles, she often collaborates with musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Lyric Opera of Chicago. A distinguished pedagogue, Williams is a member of the faculty at both the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University and the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. She was a prizewinner at the American Harp Society, American Opera Society, Anne Adams Award, National Federation of Music Clubs, Sigma Alpha Iota and Young Arts competitions. A student of Kathleen Bride, Williams received her BM and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. She continued her graduate studies at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she received her MM studying with Sarah Bullen. Catherine Yom Litaker is an avid soloist, chamber musician and orchestral musician. She currently performs as a freelance harpist in Los Angeles, CA. Litaker has performed with many Orchestras including: Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Diego Symphony, Opera San Luis Obispo, Ars Viva Symphony, Dubuque Symphony and Quad City Symphony Orchestra. She served as Principal Harpist of Civic Orchestra during the 2010 - 2012. In addition to being a founding member of the Quartet, Litaker is an avid promoter of new music and has been featured on season 3 and 4 of FOX's hit TV show, Empire. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Harp performance from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she studied with Susann Mcdonald, and her Master's Degree from Roosevelt University, Chicago College of Performing Arts, where she studied with Sarah Bullen, Principal Harpist of Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Emily Ann Granger has performed extensively with orchestras across the globe including Chicago, Sydney, and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Orchestra Victoria, Sydney Chamber Opera and Opera Australia Orchestra. She studied at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music with Susann McDonald, and Chicago College of the Performing Arts, studying with Sarah Bullen. She has performed and recorded with Hugh Jackman, Yo-Yo Ma, Renée Fleming, Jonas Kaufmann, Janelle Monáe, Sarah Blasko and with the Flinders String Quartet and, Nexas Saxophone Quartet. She's been featured on The Steve Harvey Show and can be heard on the 2018 film, Peter Rabbit. Looking forward she has a residency at the Banff Centre this winter, will present six chamber and solo programs at the Melbourne Recital Centre and Sydney Opera House next season. Julie Spring has performed internationally as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral harpist. She has held the position of Principal Harp of the Hartford Symphony, Toronto Symphony, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, as well as substitute with the Chicago Lyric, Chicago Symphony, and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras. Her solo and chamber music appearances have taken her to stages throughout the world. Spring received her Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance and Instrumental Music Education and a Performer's Certificate from Eastman School of Music with Kathleen Bride. She received her Masters in Orchestral Studies from the Chicago College of Performing Arts, with Sarah Bullen. Spring is a passionate teacher and pedagogue. She is a member of the harp faculty at Concordia University Chicago and College of DuPage in addition to teaching in the public schools.

ABOUT CHICAGO HARP QUARTET “The quartet that put harp quartets on the map” - Harp Column Founded in 2012, the Chicago Harp Quartet has established itself as the leading harp ensemble in the United States. The Quartet brings its signature mix of original transcriptions of Baroque, Classical and Romantic repertoire and new works by the world’s leading composers. The Quartet is dedicated to presenting innovative and charismatic programs to stages and audiences of all sorts. Every CHQ performance is a unique experience, bringing together the four members’ extensive and diverse solo careers and their combined dedication to sharing the excitement of the harp quartet literature. The Chicago Harp Quartet has performed at major concert venues across the US and abroad including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, Ravinia Festival, Curtis Institute of Music and the National Theater in Havana, Cuba. The Quartet has collaborated with artists including Third Coast Percussion, the International Chamber Ensemble, Duo Scorpio, Mozawa, and Ho Etsu Taiko. The Quartet is devoted to educating its audiences and reaching students of all disciplines. CHQ is sought after for masterclasses and educational residencies (recently at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, New York University, Vanderbilt University and Play On Philly!) and continues to inspire young harpists through their work with the Chicago Harp Ensemble. CHQ is featured frequently on WFMT Chicago (98.7FM) and has performed for the Lyon & Healy 150th Anniversary Festival and 2015 Summer Concert Series, 41st National Conference of the American Harp Society in New Orleans, Norton Building Series, Dame Myra Hess Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center and Ear Taxi Festival. Among ongoing commissioning projects, the Quartet has premiered works by Bernard Andres, Nicholas Davies, Alfredo Rolando Ortiz, Carolyn O’Brien, and Hilary Purrington. In 2014, the Quartet released their highly successful debut CD, Soirées d’été and in 2018 their second disc, Dance Sketches. CHQ is proud to be represented on the highly acclaimed roster of Goodman Artists.
