APPLICANT DAY PROGRAMME • T: 03330 141414 | E: enquiries@glos.ac.uk

What is an applicant day? Applicant days are exclusive to applicants who have received an offer from us – so congratulations on your offer! They are a great opportunity to see what a degree at the University of Gloucestershire has to offer and a chance for you to experience your course in greater depth.

On the day, you’ll be able to: - tour our historic campus and new accommodation - gain hands-on experience with our cutting-edge technology - get a real feel for your course in interactive sessions - meet our inspiring lecturers - make friends and meet your future classmates. Most importantly, this is an opportunity to find out if we’re the right university for you. You’ll also have the chance to hear more about whether you could be eligible for our merit scholarship, which is £1,200 to support you with the cost of your studies*. Check out www.glos.ac.uk/funding for all the details.

“The staff really stood out to me on my applicant day. The passion and enthusiasm they have for their subjects made me feel the drive and motivation I have now for my course. It is so refreshing and uplifting to have such engaging lecturers.” Chloe Daly, Geography student

Lecturers and students build a community of learning by working closely together in the seminar room, the laboratory and the field. You will also learn through conducting “real world” projects with our wider community of local groups and organisations who are working to improve the social and physical environments of Gloucestershire and beyond. At the University of Gloucestershire we don’t hide away our top researchers. They will be there to support and challenge you throughout your degree.

“We treat our students like adults, like part of the team.” Professor Adam Hart, Biological Sciences An expert in entomology and ecology, Adam is also a regular presenter of radio and TV documentaries including BBC’s Science in Action and Channel 4’s Planet Ant. “I did an internship at an equine veterinary laboratory – by the end of it, the vets didn’t realise I was actually on work experience – they thought I was an employee! I wrote up my results from the internship into a scientific paper which I’m now working to publish in a veterinary journal.” Abi Cox, Biology student

Find excitement further afield Forge unforgettable experiences on local field trips and beyond Animal Biology, Biology or Ecology & Environmental Science* Investigate ecology, animal behaviour, and the challenges of rhino poaching on a South African wildlife reserve. Alternatively, explore the home of the orang-utan, elephant and clouded leopard in the Borneo rainforest, examining the impact of ecotourism, deforestation and agriculture on this unique environment.

Or, discover the human and physical geographical landscapes from Venice, across northern Italy, to the Swiss Alps. Or, visit the Western Cape to investigate social transformation in the new South Africa and the implications for natural resources in this fascinating environment.
