“I would never trust my legs to anyone else.” T
wo days after Jennifer Erekson gave birth to her youngest child Grace, she discovered a large ball in the back of her leg. It was about the size of a tennis ball and hard to the touch. Her family doctor sent her to the emergency room where she learned the painful “tennis ball” was actually a blood clot. Her immediate problem was addressed, by Sara Adams but Jennifer knew she needed a plan for the future. A referral from a friend led her to make her first appointment with Dr. Ulises Baltazar. She said, “From the very first visit, I never felt like a patient…I felt like I was visiting with a friend. Dr. Baltazar’s cheerful and easygoing nature immediately put me at ease. His confidence and expertise were reassuring. He let me know that even though my condition was serious, he had a course of action.” Dr. Ulises Baltazar is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery with special certification in Vascular Surgery. He is a member of Houston Methodist Cardiovascular Surgery Associates’ Sugar Land Vein Clinic, a practice dedicated exclusively to the treatment of venous insufficiency that can cause painful varicose veins, venous stasis ulcers as well as leg swelling. Since her first visit, Jennifer has had three minor procedures with just a short period of downtime. She says, “Even though my condition is disheartening, I’m never discouraged to go to Dr. Baltazar for an appointment. He takes your mind off things. Dr. Baltazar told me I shouldn’t be down about my condition because he’ll always be able to take care of me.” Dr. Baltazar has been diagnosing and treating diseases of the arteries and veins for over ten years. He stays on top of current developments and innovative procedures, but his personal pleasure comes from getting to know his patients and treating them with the timeliness and care they deserve. It’s no wonder that Dr. Baltazar has been named “Most Supporting Physician” and “Patient’s Choice.” “I know my experience isn’t unique,” says Jennifer, “you can tell the other patients in his waiting room feel as connected to Dr. Baltazar as I do. He doesn’t have patients, he only has friends who need assistance. I wouldn’t trust my legs to anyone else.”

Cellfina—Tried, Tested and Loved! When I crossed my legs, I had one dimple on the side of each thigh. They’d been driving me crazy since high school...to the point that I never sat with my legs crossed. After I had a baby, additional dimples appeared on my bum. I had the Cellfina procedure done last July, and I noticed results just three weeks later. By September I was wearing swimsuits I hadn’t worn in years. Now, nine months later, my results keep getting better and better. It’s amazing! I would absolutely recommend Cellfina to a friend. It’s beyond worth it.” —46 year old satisfied patient
“I had a mild case of dimples.
“I’m 26 years old and I had
21 dimples on the sides of my thighs and bottom of my rear. I was really hesitant and wasn’t sure if this would work for me. The Cellfina procedure was only slightly uncomfortable during the anesthesia. After that I felt nothing...I was on my phone, chatting with friends. Within three days I started noticing that the dimples were disappearing, and after two weeks there was an even bigger difference. Now, almost two months later, they’re completely gone! I’m so excited and ready for summer. I cannot wait to wear a bikini!” —Vanessa
what’s considered a ‘moderate’ case of dimples—
“I’m fairly thin and athletic,
but I still had some dimples on my thighs that bothered me... especially when wearing shorts. And I tried everything—creams, massages, you name it—and nothing worked, so I decided to try Cellfina. I went back to work immediately after the procedure. I had a little day-after soreness, followed by a week or two of swelling and bruising. But now, two months later, the dimples are completely gone! I’m super happy and I cannot wait for summer shorts and skirts!” —Dr. Lin Humble

A Keller Williams Experience The Mollere’s Story
P
by Amy Sharp
at Mollere and her husband Kerry knew for quite some time that they wanted to move out of Sugar Land. “We just wanted something different—more space,” says Pat. “KW Southwest (Keller Williams) agent Linda Day is a friend of mine...and she helped us. We would look and then not look. But as Kerry got closer to retirement, we became more serious...and a trip out to Weston Lakes made us realize we really liked Fulshear. It’s just far enough out that you’re close to the city, but you still have a country feel with some space.” Then one day Pat got a call from her KWSW agent friend. “Linda said I just had to see this property in Fulbrook on Fulshear Creek. We went out that weekend and fell in love! The home is in a small section, and the lot is about ¾ acre with woods in the backyard. It’s so pretty, and we would not have anybody behind us...ever!” But there would be a hiccup in the buying process. KWSW agent Linda says, “When we were getting ready to settle on the Mollere’s home, we discovered the HOA was charging an extra $1200 for a recreation fee. The verbiage in the HOA documents indicated this was for the first owner, not subsequent buyers. The listing agent said she had tried to have the fee removed on other homes, but was unsuccessful. After several phone calls and emails
to both the title company and the HOA, they agreed to remove the charge.” “I don’t even remember that!” says Pat. “From where I was sitting, the buying process was seamless. I’m sure Linda had other clients at the time, but it really felt like she was working just for me. And this HOA issue is a perfect example. She saw a problem and she took care of it. She’s extremely trustworthy and she does her homework. She always comes with facts and figures to back up her recommendations...which was very helpful in convincing my engineer husband to put an offer on the home. I could learn a lot from her!” “I just love my new home, and I still can’t believe it’s mine. It still brings tears to my eyes to look out the window!” That’s the kind of feedback Keller Williams— #1 real estate franchise in the world—likes to hear. “We’re both a team and a company that focuses on client satisfaction,” says Linda. “I knew when I saw it that the Molleres didn’t deserve to be charged that fee, and it was my job to look out for their best interest. It’s part of the KW philosophy...and it’s a philosophy that works!” Ready to buy or sell? Call the team at KWSW today! community this size needs a voice... something that reflects the broad opinions, lifestyles and way we live. But more importantly, a community is made up of people. And naturally, people have stories. What do your kids think about their schools? Where’s a good place to find a dentist? How about that new place off 99? Our aim is for you to pick up this magazine and have answers to all of those questions. I created UpClose Magazine back in 1995 in an effort to help promote area businesses. A city filled with diverse and flourishing local businesses creates a stronger local economy that is more immune to economic downfalls. As a shop owner myself, I felt there was a better way to communicate to homeowners what the area had to offer in regards to goods and services. With that idea in mind, UpClose Magazine was taken from concept to reality with the

huge leap of faith that both readers and area businesses would embrace and support my idea. Thank you for continuing to strengthen our community by buying local. If our angle seems a little feel-good or touchy-feely, it’s only because we’re being honest. The people in these pages are our friends, neighbors and co-workers. They could have picked anywhere to live and do business...they chose to do it here. That speaks volumes for them already! Are you or do you know a candidate to be featured in our next issue? Contact UpClose Magazine. There is a story behind every business and smile...and we would like to help tell yours!

...is right here in Fort Bend County! Harvest Green—located just behind Travis High School—is a 1,300 acre master-planned community centered around a farm! “We’re passionate about our residents being connected to their food and knowing where it comes from,” says Harvest Green Lifestyle Director Sylvia Morgese. There was already fresh produce waiting for the first Harvest Green residents upon moving in at the start of March. By partnering with Edible Earth Resources and employing full-time farmers, the community has made it easy for residents to be a part of the action. “When you drive into the community,” says Sylvia, “you see the Village Farm, which will include a vineyard, an orchard, greenhouses, a livestock area, you-pick gardens...and we’ll also host demonstrations and classes for residents. From the adjacent 300 acre farm—maintained by Edible Earth—Harvest Green residents can get shares of seasonal produce delivered directly to their door through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program. Cooking demonstrations and food prep classes will be designed to help residents utilize the produce they receive.” And for those wanting to ‘grow their own,’ Harvest Green offers plots of farmland available for residents to lease out. All equipment is provided, and there’s a resident farmer on-site for consultation and suggestions. With this option, residents can grow what they want...and perhaps learn something in the process! Future plans for this farming community include a permanent farmer’s market, a daily produce stand and an on-site farm-to-table restaurant. And while it is farm-centric, Harvest Green also intends to provide residents with top-of the line amenities. “The Promenade will be a place for the whole family to gather and play!” says Sylvia. “It features fun for everyone with a resort-style pool and patio, splash pad, fitness center, amphitheater, park and playground. We will have wine mixers, craft days, movie nights, you name it. Some events—like our upcoming Summer Tomato Festival—will even be open to the public!” Harvest Green is fully located within Fort Bend ISD. Travis High School and Bowie Middle School are conveniently located in the community, as well as a future elementary school opening this fall. “Our expansive hiking trails include lighted paths to all three schools,” says Sylvia. Right down to the landscape—which is 70% edible and includes fruit bearing trees and herb gardens—Harvest Green is an idyllic picture of days past...your child can learn about farming, eat homegrown produce, and walk to and from school. hat’s how Catherine Bond sums up her relationship with the ladies of Mahoney’s House Cleaning. “I found them years ago, when it was just Imelda Mahoney and two helpers. I liked them the moment I met them. They’re a ‘get on with it, don’t mess about’ kind of company. I’m picky, and we walked through my entire home talking about what I wanted and what products to use on the different finishes in my home. I really got a comfortable feeling from the get-go.” “The care I saw on day one has never wavered,” continues Catherine. “It’s stayed consistent. Even when new team members come out, they’re always accompanied by the team leader that knows my home and my likes and dislikes. They’re always prompt, and always willing to work with my schedule. And they’re honest to a fault. I once left two $100 bills in my jeans and I found them laundered and laying with my folded laundry.” Started by Imelda Mahoney when her children were little, today Mahoney’s House Cleaning is a fully-bonded and insured company. “In addition to house cleaning, we
are available to do almost any type of house service you can think of,” says her daughter Casandra, who now works the business with her mom. And Catherine can vouch. “Before I had knee surgery, I needed help with my Christmas decorating. I couldn’t do it myself, and my husband was traveling. Casandra and her sister Madelynn got all of my boxes down from the attic. We baked cookies, lit a fire, and put on Christmas music...and the two girls put up my tree, lights and decorations. Their help is now part of my Christmas tradition! And Casandra just has a gift for organizing. In both my pantry and utility room, she removed everything, threw out the expired stuff, and put things back in a most-used, convenient and logical order. Next organizing task will be my office!” “When they’re on the job, I just don’t have to think about it. I’m so proud of them and how much their business has grown. They’re a delightful group of ladies, and I love to recommend them...but I also just want to keep them for myself!” Mahoney’s House Cleaning Services 281-777-1526 mahoneyshousecleaning@yahoo.com www.mahoneyshousecleaningservices.com

t happens to every man at one time or another,” explains Dr. Lance Campbell, Pharm. D., R.Ph. of Campbell’s Compounding Pharmacy. “Alcohol makes it worse. So does fatigue, stress, and diminishing hormones.” If you’re a man, there’s a good chance you already know what Dr. Campbell is referring to: Erectile Dysfunction. The problem is, few men want to talk about it. They accept impotence as a personal failure or a sign of diminishing relevance or even proof that they are “less of a man.” Maybe a prescription enhancer is tried, but not everyone can take medication without suffering side effects. Deep down, every man knows that good sex may only be 10% of a relationship, but bad sex (or no sex) is 90% of a relationship. Sex is the glue that binds.
Fortunately, we no longer have to rely on medieval bloodletting to fix the problem. “We’ve had tremendous success with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for men,” says Dr. Campbell. “At Campbell’s Compounding Pharmacy, we carry name brand prescription erectile dysfunction medication too, but the great thing about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is that we are able to address the underlying problem, hormonal imbalance, so that many of the associated symptoms are gone.” “Male menopause is very real, and men are suffering from it at younger ages. Muscle loss, hair loss, weight gain, sleep problems, irritability and erectile dysfunction are all classic symptoms. By working closely with your primary physician, we are able to custom design a replacement therapy for you. Everyone is different. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, and we don’t just prescribe a pill. We blend together the exact Campbell’s Compounding Pharmacy ingredients you need in “If our staff can’t make it… order to feel better—in then you probably don’t need it!” and out of the bedroom.” Sugar Land • 281-980-2555 Are you ready for a 4760 Sweetwater Blvd. Suite 103 new lease on life? Phenomenal Home Repair and Renovation W hen Dr. Marco Vargas of Foot and Ankle Associates returned from a weeklong Thanksgiving trip with his family, he had a not-so-pleasant surprise waiting for him at home. A toilet had broken, and it was running continuously. His entire first floor was flooded. “Our wood floor was lifted,” says Dr. Vargas. “Our furniture was ruined, and the bottom three feet of drywall was ripped apart throughout. My wife’s family was coming to visit that Christmas for the very first time. We had a lot to do in a very short amount of time.” Teri Gilberg, better known as the “The Re-Modelista,” had done some work in the Vargas home the previous summer. “She’d painted our entire house and done a few other things we needed,” says Dr. Vargas. “And it was a great experience. I called her immediately to see how she could help with the flood damage.” Teri and her crews started work on the Vargas home the Monday after Thanksgiving. “The entire process was incredible,” says Dr. Vargas. “We needed all new flooring and Teri recommended ProSource. Christine took great care of us and the process was seamless. In a very short amount of time, Teri and company repaired all of our damaged drywall, installed more than 2,200 sq ft of flooring, and some new countertops. She also took care of replacing the broken toilet and capping two malfunctioning in-floor electrical outlets, so that I didn’t need to scramble to find a plumber and an electrician. Everything, start-to-finish, was seamless and Teri stayed on top of it.” Dr. Vargas’ home was completed two days before Christmas, just in time to welcome his wife’s family for the holidays. “We were so grateful for the quick turnaround and impressed with the finished product. The workmanship is phenomenal, Teri uses the best help and the best supplies available. She does her own quality-control and it’s comprehensive. We found nothing that needed touching up during our final walk through. Truly amazing!”

pdating your kitchen or bathroom doesn’t mean settling for the hassle and expense of tearing out counters, tubs, and tile. You can go green while saving green with the durable beauty of Miracle Method Surface Refinishing. “Making old things new again—upcycling! It’s what we do!” say local Miracle Method owners Jonee and Paul Barnett. Keep your tub, shower, vanities and countertops in your home and out of the landfill...and still get the beautiful modern look you desire. “Replacing is both messy and expensive,” says Jonee. “Not to mention that replacing renders the area practically unusable for an extended period of time. Miracle Method is both fast and ver y effective.” Maybe it’s your shower pan that’s become very difficult to clean...to the point that no amount of scrubbing can remove the stains. The Miracle Method refinish goes right over the existing shower pan, not only making the newly refinished surface beautiful, but easy to clean too! “We can also refinish the tile surround,” says Paul, “sealing in those grout lines that are also difficult to clean. The result is a surface that cleans easily and will look great for years to come.” Or perhaps it’s your laminate countertop that’s scratched with cracks around the seams and peeling edges. “We can also refinish that countertop right there in place,” says Paul. “We have lots of color options, including our Natural Accents® stone-look finishes. And we can even add a bullnose edge, truly giving it the ‘look’ of stone!” It’s easy to see how the Miracle Method makes it pos-

hen Lisa Baker’s 18 year old son Benjamin complained about pain, she knew it was serious. “He’s not the whining kind of kid,” says Lisa. “So when he said something hurts, we knew something was going on. Ben had just returned from a Spring Break mission trip to Jamaica...and we initially thought it was something he ate or a virus. In addition to the stomach pain, he was unable to eat and experiencing lower back pain. Then when he started to run a fever, we really got concerned.” A quick internet search at 10pm told Lisa it might be appendicitis. “We immediately called St. Michael’s and let them know we were on our way. Our kids go to school with co-founder Dr. Shannon Orsak’s kids. Plus my mother-in-law had gone there years ago after a fall and was very impressed with the care.”
CHOICE whether the emergency room you choose is “in-network” or “outof-network.” 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, St. Michael’s is ready to help you!
When the Baker’s arrived at St. Michael’s, the staff was waiting for them. “They put in an IV and immediately did bloodwork. It was not long before the appendicitis was confirmed. While the staff at St. Michael’s referred doctors for an appendectomy, we decided upon a referral from Ben’s lifelong pediatrician. The staff helped us get him in the ambulance and he had surgery at St. Luke’s the following morning.” “Everyone at St. Michael’s is very professional,” continues Lisa. “I really feel you can count on the patient getting the care he or she needs quickly, and it’s absolutely the first place I will always go in an emergency. With their in-house technology, they were able to confirm the appendicitis in about an hour. That’s almost unheard of in traditional ERs.”
At this time St Michael’s, due to governmental, bureaucratic decisions, is unable to participate in Medicare, Medicaid, or Tricare.

HEALTH MATTERS WITH DR. STEVE HARRIS WHERE PAIN RELIEF COMES NATURALLY
Back Pain Down to Level Zero... Pain Free! by Amy Sharp
W
hen Ken Masaki’s close friends recommended chiropractor Dr. Steve Harris for his back pain, he was skeptical. “I had worked with a different chiropractor before,” says Ken, “and had a bad experience. Plus, I was seeking treatment at the time with a nuero-spinal specialist and I wanted to continue that course of action.” The specialist discovered Ken had herniated discs. “The specialist did a good job in helping me,”says Ken. “My constant pain went from a 10 down to a 3, with occasional spikes of 5 to 7...and I was very happy. But I also hoped to go further. Since my friends had great success with Dr. Harris, I decided to give him a try. I was really impressed. Unlike the other chiropractor—who immediately went to work on me and my pain got worse—Dr. Harris didn’t touch me at the first appointment. He did an evaluation, asked a series of questions, and looked at my MRI. He really wanted to figure out and understand my situation. Then he invited myself and my wife back to a consultation, where he presented his recommendations and why. That really gave me confidence that we were not jumping into this blindly...that Dr. Harris truly understood my situation. He gave me several options for treatment, and I chose the one I could work with. Before my treatment plan was even complete, my pain level was at zero...with the occasional spike of maybe 0.5!” Relieving pain...it’s what Dr. Harris has been doing since 1976. Today he’s a leader in his field, and he trains other doctors in treating herniated discs using spinal decompression techniques and laser. Dr. Harris says, “As Ken has experienced, spinal disc decompression traction is a breakthrough technology for disc conditions. If we can get you out of pain without drugs or surgery, it’s a healthier option. With new technology and techniques, we are more effective now
than ever before.” “I know I’m not cured in the classical sense, but I truly believe that if I do what I need to do and follow Dr. Harris’ maintenance plan, I will remain pain-free,” says Ken. “I highly, highly recommend Dr. Harris. I know there is some skepticism out there about chiropractors...I even had a bad experience myself. But given my friends experience with Dr. Harris, I figured I had nothing to lose...and it turned out to be the greatest thing for my pain.”

Before We Were
COOL
A Brief History
by Olivia Cane
P
eople who’ve sweated through one of Fort Bend County’s blistering summers often ask themselves, how did anyone survive before air conditioning? Prior to its invention in 1902 (and the window unit in 1939,) what did folks—especially those in Southeast Texas—do to keep cool? The first thing to consider is the fact that house construction was completely different back then. As you may have noticed for yourself, older homes have higher ceilings, which allow heat to rise. Porches—themselves a haven from the heat—protect windows from the sun, and trees were usually planted on the east and west sides of a house for additional shade. Windows were also opened creating a nice refreshing cross draft. Know why we have summer blockbusters? Because movie theaters were one of the few public buildings that were air conditioned... everyone wanted to go during the summer! By 1957, 90% of companies cited air
conditioning as the most important factor in office efficiency, yet even then, air conditioning remained cost prohibitive for most families. “Air conditioning is an absolute essential now,” says Brian Jackson of our very own Jackson Air and Heat. “It’s part of the way we live. And in today’s world...efficiency is just as essential. You shouldn’t have a unit that’s constantly running but nothing ever gets cooled, or consistent energy bills that are through the roof. Nothing will spike your energy bill higher than a wheezing, cycle on/cycle off unit.” “If this is happening to you, it might be time to start thinking ahead to summer and consider buying a reliable, high-efficiency Trane XV20i Variable Speed air conditioner with TruComfort technology. It’s what I use in my own home. Trane air conditioners are not only the quietest on the market, they are completely effective at removing humidity. Plus you can take advantage of our 0% financing till 2021 or huge instant rebates, plus Centerpoint rebates of up to $1500.”
Our houses today aren’t constructed the way they were in days past. With little more than bricks and a thin sheet of insulation, they are especially vulnerable to both heat and cold air escaping...which means your unit has to work that much harder to keep you and your family cool. “All the more reason to invest in an air conditioning unit that you can rely on to get the job done efficiently,” says Brian. “Call us today and we will come out and give you a free estimate. Keeping you comfortable is what we do!”

ichole Price’s oldest son Trey (now 11) had a horrifying experience at the dentist when he was younger. “I was told Trey needed a partial root canal,” says Nichole. “I was assured Trey would be fully sedated and he would be fine. He was not fine. The policy at this dental office was not to allow parents back to the examination rooms. I could hear Trey screaming at the top of his lungs, and I couldn’t get to him. I also learned Trey was only given half of the sedative, and they didn’t even wait for it to kick in before starting the procedure. I walked out of there very angry. I vowed to never return.” Nichole saw an advertisement for Little People’s Dentistry and thought it sounded more like the kind of dentist she wanted for her children. “I was extremely untrusting the first time we saw Dr. Bianca Sanchez,” says Nichole. “But both Dr. Sanchez and the staff were fantastic. Trey was scared of course, and they were very patient with him. I was allowed to stay with both Trey and my other son Tyson during the entire examination and cleaning. It took several visits for Trey to no longer be a ‘screamer,’ but that didn’t deter Dr. Sanchez. Her demeanor was always sweet, and if she needed to take more time with him, she did. The staff sings songs or does whatever it takes to make sure the kids are comfortable. When she put him under sedation for a filling, he went into a special room to drink the sedative, and they waited about 30 minutes to make sure it had kicked in and you could visibly tell Trey was getting loopy. It’s the way sedation is supposed to work!” “I would recommend Dr. Sanchez and Little People’s Dentistry to everyone that has kids! She just has a way with the little ones...and I’ve never seen her get impatient, ever. My little one Tatum has never known another dentist. When we walk in, everybody recognizes us. Not only am I no longer untrusting, I would be comfortable dropping my kids off at Little People’s Dentistry. I know in my heart that they will be taken care of!”

The Love of Family
by Olivia Cane
I
n an increasingly corporatized world, Alan Burkhalter remembers a time when the people you did business with were also your friends, your neighbors, folks you went to church with or whose kids played on your kid’s Little League team. You invited them into your home to fix things that needed fixing because you knew who they were, and you knew they cared about your family. Essentially, they were family. And it is precisely that spirit of caring and community that master plumber Alan Burkhalter brings to Alan’s Plumbing...and now with one very important addition. He just added a beautiful new daughter-in-law to the Burkhalter fold! You see, Alan’s Plumbing is a family-owned, familyrun business. Alan’s wife, Jennifer (who is rumored to have superhero powers) is the warm, wonderful human you will talk to on the phone. Their sons Luke and Beau, and Alan’s brother Chris are all journeyman licensed plumbers and son Jake is an apprentice working towards a journeyman license. This past month, Luke was married to Fort Bend ISD kindergarten teacher Chelsea, whose mother, Marla, is an accomplished travel agent, and whose
father, Eddie, is also a local plumber. Talk about a small world! Chelsea and Luke met at Morrison’s Plumbing Supply...so it’s probably safe to say there was a bit of destiny to all of this. Lovely Chelsea grew up in Greatwood— which, as fate would have it, happens to be the location of Alan’s very first plumbing job when he was seventeen years old. Now, forty years later, a new generation of smart, tech-savvy Burkhalters are continuing the tradition of great service. It’s safe to say that when it comes to anything plumbing related, from a simple leaky faucet to the installation of pipes and water heaters, Team Burkhalter—which also includes journeyman licensed plumber Jeff Johnson
and apprentices Jaime, Trevor, Kyle and Robert (all working towards their journeyman license)—has you covered at prices that are fair and affordable. Since honesty is a byword, no need to worry about getting a less-than-trustworthy assessment of your plumbing problems. “The reason we have lifelong customers is because our #1 goal is to provide you with the best service possible,” says Alan. “It is the cornerstone not just of our business philosophy, but our life philosophy: Be of service. It’s how I raised my boys and it’s how I treat my customers.” So did Alan give his newly-married son any relationship advice? “Never take her for granted,” he says. “Be grateful every day for the life you have and the love you’ve found. Show respect and communicate with each other calmly and consistently.” “Also...it never hurts to put the toilet seat down and pick up your clothes from the floor!”

by Olivia Cane o you know the difference between a pest and a bug? Bugs are the fascinating creatures you learn about in science class. Pests are the cockroaches, fire ants, termites, silverfish, fleas—or in some cases rats, opossums and raccoons—that set up shop inside your house and make you miserable. Everyone who lives in the Fort Bend area is familiar with pests because they have to constantly do battle with them. The subtropical climate makes your cool, lovely house especially appetizing to the hordes of “unfriendlies” that plague the great state of Texas. BUGCO Pest Control owner John Onofrey and his business partner Chris Millward have a solution you can live with: Affordable, hassle-free pest control plan options. What that means is you don’t have to come home to any more grisly surprises!

rom the moment Aileen Cisneros booked her son Alexander’s 6th birthday at Santikos Theatres, she felt overindulged. “They go out of their way to cater to your every need,” says Aileen. “And Alex felt like the star of a movie throughout his birthday party!” For Alex’s party, Aileen chose to include bowling, a viewing of the blockbuster hit Zootopia, and a pizza party. “I was just so impressed from start to finish,” continues Aileen. “The girls assigned to our party were always making sure we were happy, happy, happy! They took care of gathering the gifts as guests arrived, and they served the pizza. I brought in a popcorn-shaped cake that I thought would be next to impossible to cut..and they did a fantastic job. I was somewhat dreading getting the kids lined up and seated in their assigned seats for the movie, but the birthday crew executed it flawlessly. So organized!” As Aileen discovered, when you host a birthday party at a Santikos Theatres, they do all the work! “You and your guests get our undivided attention from arrival to departure,” says Staci Smith, Director of Events, Santikos Theatres. “Our dining options range from the popular pizza party to grab-n-go lunches to full buffets, and a snack pack in a commemorative moviethemed box is presented to each child to enjoy during the movie.
Like Aileen, you can incorporate bowling into the party, or even time in the arcade. We accommodate parties of 10 to 100 and your child—the Star of the party—receives special bonuses too! The Santikos Palladium is truly the total package. Whatever you want, it can be done. Book your party 24 hours per day, 7 days per week online. You make the list and we do the rest...it’s that simple. We are at your service!” “As a parent you really feel the need to attend to your guests at a birthday party,” says Aileen. “The kids of course...and also the other parents at the party. It’s nice to be able to give your guests undivided attention and not have to worry about the food and the serving and keeping the activities on schedule. I was very impressed with everything about Alex’s birthday party at Santikos Palladium...and I would definitely do it again!” Visit Santikos.com for additional information on birthday parties, corporate events, show times and tickets.
