aty City Councilmember Gary Jones and his wife Sherri moved to Katy almost 15 years ago. He says, “When we moved here, we bought a house out in the country that needed a new A/C unit. My mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gene and Jewel Cullins, referred us to Gerald Svetlik and True Fix A/C & Heating. My in-laws were clients and told us the service with True Fix was the best. That old country house had old metal ductwork. True Fix came out and replaced everything for us, inside and out.” Fast forward nearly 15 years, and Gary is still a True Fix customer. “I love that this is a Katy-owned business,” says Gary. “Before we moved here, we lived in Baytown. I thought my A/C company there was really good, but Gerald tops them! Our current house in town needed a new A/C unit after we lived in it a few years. Same deal, True Fix put in new equipment inside and out. This company is honest. They don’t promise something and then it doesn’t happen. They make sure it does. You schedule a time and True Fix sticks to it. They also call to let you know they’re on their way. The technicians wear little booties in your house, and lay out cloths to keep your floor clean. And they always clean up after themselves. After our installation, things were so clean you couldn’t even tell they’d been there! We do both spring and fall maintenance with True Fix, and it’s the same great service.” Gary’s experience is not surprising. True Fix A/C & Heating has received many awards for customer service. Owner Gerald Gary and Sherri Jones Svetllik says, “Ever since our services began in 1972, customer service has been the pinnacle of our family-owned and operated business. We don’t use subcontractors, and many of our employees have been with us for over ten years. We also belong to a prestigious group of contractors called Trane Comfort Specialists. No other air conditioner is as efficient at taming our Texas combo of heat and humidity. The new Trane TruComfort Variable Speed system maintains maximum efficiency by automatically making minor, continuous adjustments all day and all night long. And as part of our commitment to service, when we put in your system you get a 100% performance guarantee. Right now, you can also take advantage of amazing incentives like 0% financing for 60 months or instant rebates from Centerpoint Energy for up to $1000.” “Gerald runs one of the most responsible and responsive A/C companies I have ever seen,” says Gary. “I recommend True Fix all the time, both in person and when I see a Facebook post asking for an A/C company referral.” True Fix A/C & Heating Councilmember Gary served our country as a Marine. “We all recently 281-392-9334 enjoyed celebrating the Memorial Day holiday,” says Gary. “I would like Greenbusch, Katy, TX 77494 to honor and remember all of our United States veterans. Thank you for www.truefix.com your service.” license#TACLB004843E.

hen Lana and Keenan Hickman moved to Katy about eight years ago, they found Today’s Vision Cinco Ranch and Dr. Mostaghimi online. “We were looking for an optometrist close to home,” says Keenan. “From that very first visit, it’s been a great experience. Dr. Mostaghimi and I are both sports fans, so we really hit it off talking about Houston sports.” Lana and Keenan are both patients, as well as their kids Keeana and Tim. “The care at Today’s Vision Cinco Ranch is outstanding,” says Keenan. “I wear daily contact lenses. I’m retired from the Army Reserves, but back when I would go away for training, Dr. Mostaghimi made sure I was stocked up on contacts. Once on a vacation to San Antonio, I forgot my contacts. Dr. Mostaghimi’s staff worked with an unaffiliated Today’s Vision office in San Antonio to get me contacts for the trip. They really didn’t have to do that, but they did!” “The kids got their eyesight from me,” continues Keenan. “Both are active in sports and needed an alternative to glasses. Dr. Mostaghimi started them in contacts early. I think Keeana got her contacts at eight. My wife also once had contacts, but Dr. Mostaghimi convinced her to do LASIK. He gave her a great referral for the procedure, and she is very happy with

her vision now. He’s still working on me to get LASIK. I know the procedure has been around for more than 20 years, but I still feel it’s a little new! That’s just the way I am.” Vision aside, Keenan has become good friends with Dr. Mostaghimi. He even stops by the office even when he doesn’t have an appointment. “I drop by and visit whenever there’s something to talk about...the Astros, Rockets, or Texans. I just finished texting him about the Rockets in the playoffs!” And last fall, the relationship changed from friends to family. “We got flooded out,” says a very emotional Keenan. “Dr. Mostaghimi told me to come to the shop. We had only the clothes on our back, and he gave us clothes and whatever

we needed while we got back on our feet. I will never forget that. He didn’t have to do that. He showed so much compassion. Dr. Mostaghimi is a great guy and great for our community. I will never forget how he was there for us when we were at our worst. My first set of clothes after the flood came from my optometrist!” “We absolutely recommend Today’s Vision Cinco Ranch and Dr. Mostaghimi. My family will be patients forever. Even if he convinces me to get LASIK and I don’t need him as much, I’ll still stop by to talk sports. I’m not joking when I say he is like family!” Today’s Vision Cinco Ranch 281-347-EYES (3937) 23701 Cinco Ranch Blvd Suite #170 Katy, TX 77494 www.tvcincoranch.com

Randy Stacy, who co-owns Fulshear Insurance Group with his wife Kim, says, “It’s disheartening to see what comes across my desk sometimes when people are shopping around for business insurance. I see policies that don’t match the risk or the business classification...essentially, businesses that aren’t insured at all for what they are doing. It really makes me blow my stack!” When it comes to business liability, Fulshear Insurance Group specializes in small and medium markets and has access to many of the major carriers. “We make sure you have the right coverage for your business,” says Randy, “with a carrier that has the financial wherewithal to withstand a major catastrophe. Not someone who will shrivel and leave you with unpaid claims.” Randy and Fulshear Insurance Group have experience in nearly all “main street” businesses, including offices, title and mortgage companies, retail, cafes, donut shops, general liability and property coverage for doctor and dentist offices, worker’s compensation and professional liability for engineers, consultants and architects. They are also experienced in insuring commercial autos, both big and small. hen your child needs extensive dental work—but your primary dentist is not able to do it because your child is young and scared—Dr. Yunus Langha has the answer for you: “Sleep Dentistry for Kids!” Since 2013, Dr. Langha has specialized in what is called “Hospital Pediatric Dentistry.” Dr. Langha says, “Back when I was practicing general dentistry, I saw a need to treat these very young patients who have extensive dental needs under general anesthesia. My patients include small children who are difficult to treat in the office, patients with extensive dental needs—like those with a mouth full of cavities from breastfeeding all night or bottle decay, those with a traumatic dental past, and patients with special health care needs like autism and Down syndrome. As a board-certified pediatric dentist, I have privileges at Texas Children’s Hospital. With myself, a boardcertified pediatric anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetists and the entire hospital team by their side, the hospital is a very safe place for these young children to receive treatment.” Once dental treatment is completed, patients return to their primary dentist for continued care and follow up. Dr. Langha and his wife Nilofer enjoy life in Sugar Land with their two daughters. In addition to a masters degree in Public Health, Dr. Langha did a Dental General Practice Residency at Western Reserve and a two year residency in Pediatric Dentistry at LSU School of Dentistry where he also served as Chief Resident. He’s a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and Greater Houston Dental Society. Dr. Langha has served on the board of the South Asian Chamber of Commerce, and has several research publications in peer reviewed journals. Many of Dr. Langha’s patients are referrals from other pediatric dentists and general dentists, but a referral is not required. Parents as far away as Beaumont, Bryan/College Station and Bay City bring their kids to Dr. Langha for dental work. Most insurances are accepted, including Medicaid, CHIP, MCNA, DentaQuest and discount plans. If your child could benefit from “Sleep Dentistry,” give Dr. Langha’s office a call today! CUSTOM METALWORK

If You Can

by Amy Sharp

early ten years ago, Clint Bollinger launched E.G.A. Fabrication in the barn his own grandfather built in the 1960s. Back then, it was a business born out of necessity. Clint says, “I needed something for my employees to do when there was no tire work in my truck tire business. So we started creating works of art made out of raw steel.” And even the ever-imaginative Clint could not have imagined where this business would take him! What does E.G.A Fabrication make? Anything! “I’m the guy they call when no one else has the answer,” says Clint. His most famous piece is arguably the 5½ ft cowbell created for the Million Dollar Bucking Bull Futurity in Las Vegas. You know the “Welcome to Bellville” sign you see when heading from Brenham to Bellville? E.G.A Fabrication created both the bull and the lettering. “Everything we do is one-of-a-kind custom creations,” says Clint. “We’ve done lettering for signs, subdivision entrances, businesses and churches. Gates and entrances are popular, as are custom fire pits and jet burners, and works of art featuring our Texas Twist barbed wire. I’ve done a lot of custom furniture, including headboards and steel base tables and bar stools with intricate wood-burned tops.” All designs can be amazingly detailed with your name, logo, brand, personal taste...anything! Clint’s gift is the ability to see a project finished before it’s ever started. You tell him your vision, he makes it a reality. The pictures speak for themselves! Clint and his wife of 27 years, Kimberly, live in the same house Clint came home to when he was born. Clint is a Marine and Kimberly is an Air Force veteran. Their son Kurt, also a Marine, is currently serving in Okinawa. Derek, a high school junior, plans to serve in the Air Force. All E.G.A. Fabrication employees are veterans. “What we are creating are lifetime pieces,” says Clint. “Our work will not fall apart. We focus on quality—not quantity—and most anything is possible. What can we create for you?”

elhaven University Director of Admission and Student Services Pete Deegan always wanted to help people. “I got married during my last year at San Diego Christian College, and our first child was born soon after. We moved to Phoenix to be closer to my mother-in-law, and I took a job at Argosy University as an admission counselor. What I found was...I was good at it. I could really believe in what I was doing and see people’s lives transformed.” In 2013, together with his family Pete moved to Jackson, Mississippi to work at Belhaven University. After three years in Jackson, he accepted his current position at Belhaven’s West Houston campus. Repeatedly named one of “America’s 100 Best College Buys,” Belhaven delivers accelerated adult education, and both bachelor’s and master’s degrees that are tailored to the needs of busy working adults. “I love Belhaven,” says Pete. “We have a vast demographic of students that come together and learn together. Each brings in different strengths based on their background and life experiences. It’s a really cool thing to bring them all under one roof and not just learn what the professors are teaching, but learn from each other. Here, every student has a name... they’re not just a number. The classes and campus are a safe place where students come to be ministered to in both education and life. When a student’s mom dies, with pray with him. Students facing worries and stress have an outlet where they can release that. And we focus on academic excellence. A student earns the degree they need, and they learn something in the process. Our worldview curriculum teaches everything through the lens of Biblical world truth. From business to psychology, we challenge our students to understand why they’re doing this and why they believe what they believe.” Belhaven students can attend part-time or full-time, and classes meet just once a week. This spring, Belhaven graduated 52 students. “That’s 52 out of a campus of 230,” says Pete. “This is a place where we love people openly and where they are. Sometimes that means being bold-face honest with them, and sometimes it means a hug. I see all of the work these students put in, and it’s absolutely beautiful to see their faces as they are finishing. Graduation day is my favorite day of the year. It’s great stuff. I see lives changed because of Belhaven every day.” No matter where you are in life, you too can become a successful Belhaven graduate. Give Pete a call today!

n the intense, triple digit climate conditions of the Katy area, roofs take a real beating. Even a little bit of moisture from a small leak can damage the structural support of your home—your most important investment—and lead to bigger problems. That’s why you don’t need a fly-by-night, part-time “roofing guy.” You need an expert, someone who knows what to look for and is 100% honest. Meet Henry Viesca, owner of ProRoofs Restoration. No one knows more about roofs than Henry. He’s been studying, appraising, testing and walking on roofs for more than ten years now. “In 2008, right after Hurricane Ike, my brother recruited me to work in the roofing business,” says Henry. “I quickly realized you need someone who cares to inspect your roof for problems. If your roof was improperly installed or recently subjected to gale-force winds or hail, you would be shocked to see how quickly conditions start deteriorating.” “Here’s the thing to remember: The only way to tell what’s going on with your roof is to physically get on your roof and walk it,” continues Henry. “Many home inspectors are afraid to do that. They ‘inspect’ using drones and binoculars. That’s just not going to cut it. Unless you’re up there, you can’t tell if a shingle is loose or damaged. Every member of our team has been trained and educated to diagnose, repair, and replace your home’s roof. We actually take photos and write detailed reports, including an estimate of how many years your roof has left. A lot of prospective homeowners ask us to inspect their roofs before they buy.” If your roof is damaged and you’re not happy with your insurance quote, call Henry! “We are happy to get up on the roof with your insurance company for a reinspection. Sometimes that’s all it takes to get you every dollar that’s coming to you. As a licensed insurance adjuster, I can look at your paperwork and make sure it’s on the up-and-up. Insurance companies are usually pretty conscientious about getting adjusters out to your house after a storm, but things get missed. That’s why it’s good to have someone on your side fighting for you.” “We get a ton of referral business. Call for your free evaluation and estimate and we’ll be right out. You may even get a chance to meet Buddy. My wife Karla and I have five girls who begged us for a dog. They wanted another girl, of course, but we needed at least one other male figure in the house. Now Buddy rides along with me to most of my jobs!” After Hurricane Harvey and at the request of many clients, Henry parlayed his quest for perfection into additional areas of home improvement, including floors, siding, gutters, fences, windows, doors, patios, painting inside and out, and so much more. a Family Favorite is Coming to Fulshear!

by Amy Sharp or as long as he can remember, Jimmy Cantu has been in the restaurant business. “My parents operated a restaurant when I was a kid,” says Jimmy. “And it was one of my favorite places to hang out. While completing my degree at the University of Houston College of Restaurant Management, I worked at several restaurants…working through the ranks as a waiter, bartender, and manager.” In 1997, Jimmy and his parents came up with their own concept. “We opened Pier 36 in Needville,” says Jimmy, “and focused on seafood using many, many family recipes for the menu.” The restaurant quickly became a Fort Bend favorite. People rushed to Needville for the fresh seafood…shrimp, red snapper and flounder straight from the Gulf, and local farm-raised domestic catfish and oysters from the Texas and Louisiana coast. Twelve years ago, Pier 36 moved to their popular current (and larger!) location in Richmond. This summer, Pier 36 is opening a second location in Fulshear’s Town Center! The Fulshear menu will feature the same fresh favorites fans have loved for years, and the newer Richmond favorites too like ceviche, grilled tuna, grilled rainbow trout, and crabmeat stuffed mushrooms. Kids dining at Pier 36 always love their special surprise treat, after they finish their meal of course! And don’t miss out on the fresh oysters on the half shell, cocktails and frozen drinks at Pete’s Oyster Bar, the Pier 36 signature full service bar. Pier 36 has grown tremendously, but it’s still a family affair.

Sunday-Thursday 11am-9pm Friday & Saturday 11am-9:30pm

Jimmy says, “My parents officially retired from the restaurant, but that doesn’t stop my mom…she can’t stay away. My sister’s background is graphic design and she does all of the menus and promotional work for us. My wife and I both grew up in Fort Bend County, and we love that we’ll now have two restaurants so close to home.” “We would love to have your family join our family for some fresh gulf coast seafood,” says Jimmy. “Except on Sundays...when the restaurant is closed. I give my employees that day to spend with their own families. We’ll see you Monday thru Saturday!”

n July 1st, Katy Area Veterinary Medical Group is excited to open its fourth location: Grand Morton Animal Clinic. Hospital System Chief of Staff, Dr. Mark Purser, and Hospital System Administrator, Chase Purser, have named Dr. Alex Deal as Lead Veterinarian for this location. Dr. Deal has always loved animals. The idea that he might someday become a vet started to materialize when he was just six years old. “My family rescued a stray cat that we ultimately lost to FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus),” says Dr. Deal. “The visits to the vet with that cat spurred me into thinking being a vet might be something I wanted to do. It was something I always held in the back of my mind.” After receiving his degree from Texas A&M in biomedical science, Dr. Deal spent a year working in a vet clinic. Then in 2014, Dr. Deal received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M. After graduation, the Spring Branch native spent a year working in a clinic close to home. Then he ventured out to Katy to work with one of the best, Dr. Purser at Highland Knolls Veterinary Hospital. Open since 1999, the goal at Highland Knolls Veterinary Hospital and Katy Area Veterinary Medical Group is to make your veterinary experience as pleasant, compassionate and comfortable as possible for you and your pet. Staying up to date on technology and pharmaceuticals are an integral piece of Dr. Purser’s practice. Dr.

Deal says, “I love that I’m able to practice high quality medicine here. Dr. Purser is a great mentor, and he has a nice client base that has allowed me to work up and experience a lot of cases. I’m very excited about the opportunity to spread my wings at the new Grand Morton Animal Clinic.” Dr. Deal and his wife Carly love life with their four-month-old son Lawson. Visit Dr. Deal with your four-legged family member, and he loves to talk golf, fishing, hunting, and Houston and Aggie sports teams! The new Grand Morton Animal Clinic is equipped with everything Dr. Deal needs to care for your pets, including routine prevention, surgical care, lab work, x-ray and ultrasound. The ABCs of Being a Success “A

DENTAL Health: Pro Tips for Parents

by Olivia Cane

is for ‘Always do what you say you’re going to do,” says Faisal M. Khan, DDS at Grand Parkway Pediatric Dental. “Even when it’s inconvenient. What’s great about having three children of my own and a pediatric dental practice is that all my kids keep me accountable. I love every minute of it! One of the most remarkable things about working with kids is that they inspire me to be the best possible version of me—patient, loving and 100% trustworthy. It’s what we should all aspire to be!” “B is easy! It’s for ‘Brushing,’ of course,” continues Dr. Khan. “It’s something that even adults have a hard time remembering to do. But your kids watch what you do even more than they listen to what you say. So it’s up to you to set the example. Brushing when you get up and before you go to bed is essential, even when you’re tired.” “C is for ‘Come see your dentist.’ And a good time to do that is right after school lets out for the summer. The problem with summer is the wonderful lack of structure and routine (at least from your kids’ perspective), so teeth sometimes go unbrushed. By coming to see me before summer really gets going, I can serve as a reminder to your children that brushing their teeth is the best way to avoid spending time in my chair.” Of course, most of Dr. Khan’s patients love going to see him. They consider it a treat, not a punishment...and who could blame them? By all accounts from the 12-andunder crowd, Grand Parkway Pediatric Dental is a blast. “It’s so much easier to treat a child that’s having fun,” explains Dr. Khan. “Which is why our waiting room is full of toys with a fascinating underwater wall mural and room to play.” And the dentist part? Tiny teeth are cleaned while your kids relax on orange-and-white

‘surfboards’ with TV screens mounted on the ceiling for their enjoyment (and distraction!). Call Grand Parkway Pediatric Dental today and see for yourself how easy and fun learning these “ABCs” can be!

From the many options Terry had available, I was able to find what I was looking for.” During installation of her new tile, Ola continued to be impressed with Lone Star Floors. “They showed up when they said they would, and their time estimate was right on. They did a really neat and professional job installing the tile. I recommend them to everyone that needs flooring work, including my real estate clients!” The fact that Ola chose to use Lone Star Floors in her own home speaks volumes for the family-owned and operated company. Keller Williams Southwest is one of the largest realty offices in Fort Bend County. “The proof is in the numbers,” says Ola. “In April 2018, the ‘listings taken’ volume of our office was $50.7 million. This number reflects the trust that clients place in our office, and represents the reputation built by that trust. If you are looking to buy or sell your home, or want to invest in real estate, contact us at KWSW where you will receive great service, confidence, competence, trust, and most importantly...outstanding results!” Lone Star Floors is owned by cousins Mohamed Naser, Ziad Mukhaimer, and Imad Mansour. This trio has been installing floors all over southeast Texas for more than thirty years. In addition to flooring, Lone Star Floors does full kitchen and bathroom remodeling--including plumbing, shower glass, painting and granite. With more than thirty vendors at their fingertips, the Lone Star family can take care of all your flooring and remodeling needs. Stop by the showroom anytime to see the possibilities!

wo Christmases ago, Hai Ho’s wife Cyndi Dinh asked him for a craft room. “Crafting is Cyndi’s hobby,” says Hai. “She’s always crafting gifts for friends and family...but we had no idea what God had in store for us.” It all started when Cyndi and Hai led a growth group from Thrive Church. “We went to the original The Rustic Brush,” says Hai. “Clearly Cyndi loved it and it showed...because the owner approached us about opening another location. Many years ago, we had talked about owning a business together.” And ten months after Cyndi asked for that craft room, she got three! Hai and

Cyndi are the owners of The Rustic Brush Katy, Memorial, and Sugar Land locations. Hai runs all three locations. “I’m head of household at home and head of our businesses too,” says Hai. “I keep everything smooth sailing for our real family and The Rustic Brush family as well.” Speaking of family, The Rustic Brush is an all-hands-in family affair! “When you come here,” says Hai, “you are able to craft something tangible and create memories to take with you. It’s a great experience for couples, families, small groups and team building. Our projects start at $25, so it’s an affordable experience for everyone.
