Celebrating Grand and New Beginnings

Designer Caron Lopez grew up in a company town. “The employer painted the houses every two years,” explains Caron. “I always got to pick the color of my room… robin egg blue, dandelion yellow, and more. I would change out the art by doing it myself, and my mother helped sew new bedding. I’ve always had a yearning for design.”

After attending college to become a science museum curator and a two-decade career as a science teacher, word got around about Caron’s skilled eye. In 1983, she started spending her summers and breaks providing interior design services. “My passion is uncovering the story of your life and expressing it through your decor. I’m very creative, and I hardly ever say, ‘No.’ My part-time business quickly grew to full-time, and this year we are excited to be expanding to a new building. We’re renaming the business Grand Interiors and Window Fashion, where we provide painting, faux painting, metalwork, stone or brickwork, tile, custom cabinetry, fabric, and more. We customcreate exactly the look you want down to a new style and design plan, colorways, the drapery or window coverings, upholstery, and area rugs. My husband Candelario also offers motorized 20 ft roller shades for the patio…allowing you to screen in your patio only when you want to. This year Candelario and Caron celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. “It’s a year of new beginnings,” says Caron. “Our son Lewis got married, and our daughter Allyson’s jazz band, 1810 Ojeband, is recording their first album in Houston in August.” Caron’s been in business for more than 30 years. “I’m excited to keep doing what I love in our new building under our new name. Together, we’ll create changes in your home that make a big difference!”
