Prince Edward Island is special

Prince Edward Island may be Canada’s smallest province, but there’s so much to see and do as a UPEI student. “The Island” is known around the world for scenic landscapes, sun-swept beaches, and small-town charm. It’s also one of the safest places to live!

PEI is only 224 kilometres from tip to tip, so you’re just minutes away from beautiful beaches and coastlines no matter where you are. We’re right in the middle of Atlantic Canada, and options for flights to and from the Charlottetown Airport increase each year.

Our traditional east coast Canadian culture continues to be enhanced by international students and new PEI residents, making Prince Edward Island a truly amazing and special place to learn and to live.

charlottetown

The Epekwitnewaq Mi’kmaq call Prince Edward Island Epekwitk, which means “resting on the waves.” The University of Prince Edward Island recognizes and acknowledges our location in the ancestral and unceded territory of the Indigenous Mi’kmaq People of PEI.

Education is a key component of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s Calls to Action. UPEI is committed to advancing reconciliation through higher education. As a community, we have started a journey of growth to realize the role we must play in promoting an understanding of Indigenous history and culture and supporting respectful relationships. upei.ca/

Like our Island home, the University of Prince Edward Island offers an amazing student experience at our historic campus in Charlottetown. Safety, inclusiveness, plus the amenities of a larger city—it’s all here!

Charlottetown offers inclusive and welcoming places for our students to call home. The campus is a short walk away from markets and food stores, cafés and restaurants, and banks and ATMs.

Go from lecture to laundromat, library to lunch date in minutes with your transit pass! Ride the bus to Charlottetown’s historic downtown and its shops, pubs, parks, and waterfront. Meet friends at the library or picturesque Victoria Park, visit a gallery, take in a show at the Confederation Centre of the Arts, or sit or stroll along the scenic boardwalk at Charlottetown Harbour.
