Lower School
School Dress Code
Introduction
Parents should email the shop on schoolshop@uppingham.co.uk or telephone +44 (0) 1572 822211 to make an appointment for fittings.
At Uppingham our pupils are committed to the highest standards in their work, behaviour and personal presentation. In the Lower School, the dress code is an essential part of this, creating a sense of identity and pride, whether pupils are striding around the quads between lessons, running out onto the playing fields in their team kit, or representing the School at events. School Shop School Shop fittings take approximately 45 minutes. Appointments in the week before term starts in September are reserved for overseas pupils. Please note that appointments fill up quickly so it is important to book early. The School Shop also stocks bedding sets (duvet, pillows etc), towel sets, sports equipment, tuck boxes and stationery. General Adherence to the dress code is an area in which School and parents can usefully co-operate. We expect pupils to look smart at all times with their top button done up, tie tied neatly and shirt tucked into their trousers/skirts. Please insist on the regulation dress code, without variations. Please do not put a HsM into the awkward position of being asked to allow rule breaking on the grounds that money has already been spent on some deviation from the dress code specified. In case of doubt please ask first. Labelling of clothing Name tapes are automatically ordered for all pupils entering the School by the School Shop and are available for collection when you purchase school clothing. All items purchased from the School Shop can be named and delivered to your child’s Boarding House for the start of term. If you wish home clothes to also be named please bring them to your fitting. Labelling of Home Clothes All items of clothing and other articles, including underwear and home clothes, must be marked internally with initials, name and House. Shoes should be marked with permanent marker on the underside of tongues. Parents should note that adequate marking is an important safeguard against loss. The labelling of all clothes should be regarded as a parental responsibility but can be organised through the School Shop (a charge applies).
