Maha Metro to implement Metro Neo Transit System for Nashik and Warangal

Metro Neo is an innovative transport system, which will be implemented for the first time in India in Nasik by Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro). The detailed project report (DPR) of Nasik Metro Neo, prepared by Maha Metro, is awaiting clearance from the Union Cabinet (Govt. of India). Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) had asked Maha Metro to prepare the DPR of Warangal Metro. Now, Mysore is also working on feasibility of Metro Neo system in the city.

Delhi Metro appointed private operator to run trains on Yellow Line

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) has deployed 243 private train operators to operate its trains on 49.39 km Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli – HUDA City Centre). These operators have received training from the Delhi Metro Academy and will work under administrative control of private agency JMD Consultant Pvt. Ltd. It is being told that DMRC has taken this step due to the financial crisis. With this, DMRC will not have to appoint train drivers on a permanent basis.

Ashwini Vaishnav takes charge of new Railway Minister of India

Former bureaucrat Ashwini Vaishnaw took charge of the new Railway Ministry in Indian Government on July 8, 2021. He was inducted into the Central Government cabinet recently and has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Railways. Along with the Railways, he has also been given the charge of the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications. Vaishnav has been made minister at a time when various ways are being considered to increase the income of the Railways. It also includes the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

One Mumbai Metro Card launched to ensure seamless commute for Mumbaikars

Axis Bank, Mumbai Metro and Master Card have launched ‘One Mumbai Metro Card’, to ensure contactless and cashless travel for Mumbaikars. It is a prepaid, openloop contactless card that can be used as a part of the daily transit journey with just a tap. This is a card that can be used for all daily purchases from food, groceries, medicines as well as tickets.

MoHUA Secretary DS Mishra inspected on-going construction work of Delhi-Meerut RRTS project

Durga Shanker Mishra, Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and Chairman, National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) on July 10, 2021 inspected on-going construction work on the entire 82 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor along with Vinay Kumar Singh, Managing Director, NCRTC. Other senior officials from NCRTC. Commissioner Meerut also accompanied him during the visit.

Anjum Parwez appointed as new Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation

The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has issued an order appointing 1994-batch IAS officer, Anjum Parwez as the new Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on June 14, 2021. He will be responsible for fast tracking the much-delayed Phase 2 project of Bangalore Metro. Prior to his posting to BMRCL, Parwez was the principal secretary in the Transport Department, Government of Karnataka. He had worked in various senior positions at the Secretary level in the Government of Karnataka. Prawez holds B. Tech. degree from IIT, Delhi and Post Graduate degree in Public Policy and Management from IIM, Bangalore.

Maha Metro signs MoU with CIDCO to operate and maintain Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1

Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 is all set to open for the public soon. The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd (CIDCO) has taken an important step towards the implementation of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1. CIDCO has appointed Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro) to operate and maintain the Navi Mumbai Metro’s Line 1 for next 10 years.

India's newly developed Gandhinagar Railway Station dedicated to the nation

Indian Railways has made a giant leap in the Station Redevelopment program as Gandhinagar Capital Railway station is set to offer modern services to the Nation. Redevelopment of the Gandhinagar Capital Railway station will act as a city booster and create an investment cycle, job opportunities and in general uplift the economy of Gandhinagar, which is the capital of the state of Gujarat. This is first of its kind project in India and will pave the way for similar development in land-stressed cities like Mumbai and Bangalore.

Govt of India spent Rs 13,483 crores on first Bullet Train Project, know work progress as on date

The Ministry of Railways has shared the current progress report of India's first high-speed bullet train project proposed between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. According to the Ministry, a total of Rs 13,483 crores was incurred on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Project mainly on the acquisition of Land, Utility Shifting and Contractual Payments till June 2021. Further, the Ministry has assigned the work for survey and preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the seven more High-Speed Rail (Bullet Train) corridors to National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) which include Chennai-BangaloreMysore and Mumbai-Pune-Hyderabad routes of Southern India and the same is under progress.

Indian Railways to invest Rs 21,000 crore in electrification of routes by 2023-24

Indian's national transporter Indian Railways has decided to undertake electrification of Broad Gauge Railway lines in mission mode. Significant progress has already been made in this regard and Indian Railways is likely to electrify all Broad Gauge rail lines by 2023-24. As of 1st April 2020, the total length of the entire Indian Railways' network (all Gauges) is 67,956 Route Kilometres.

Kolkata Metro conducts trial run on PhoolbaganSealdah stretch of East-West Corridor

Kolkata Metro Rail Corporation (KMRC) has conducted the first trial run of a metro train on a 2.33 km stretch of East-Metro Corridor (Line 2) from Phoolbagan to Sealdah station and back to Phoolbagan. The Corporation has decided to extend metro services up to Sealdah by partially operating Sealdah station (East-Bound line only).

First trial run commenced on 5-km stretch of Pune Metro Rail Project

The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha Metro) today commenced the first trial run of metro train on a 5-km stretch from Vanaz to Garware College which is part of Vanaz - Ramwadi Corridor of Pune Metro Rail Project. The trial run without passengers was officially flagged off by Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar and other dignitaries from the State Government, Pune Municipal Corporation, and Maha Metro. The Maha Metro has set a deadline to open this section for the public in mid of October and November this year. Earlier, Maha Metro had carried out a trial run on the 6-km stretch from Pimpri Chinchwad to Phugewadi, on the Pimpri Chinchwad - Swargate Corridor.
