The gardens of Lake Constance – travelling across time Whoever sets out to discover the green side of Lake Constance can look forward to an exciting journey through time: gardens, parks and green oases from the Stone Age to the present day invite you to enjoy beautiful vistas all around the lake while bringing to life the region’s rich history. Mainau Island, the park of Arenenberg Castle along with the new medieval garden, Reichenau Island, Salem Monastery and Palace, the New Castle in Meersburg, the Charterhouse Ittingen and the garden rendezvous at the Lower Lake – all these gardens are united in the project “Lake Constance – the cradle of European horticulture.

Reichenau Island Wonderful gardening – across history About 1’200 years ago, a monk at Lake Constance created the ďŹ rst gardening book in European history by writing the small “Hortulusâ€?. Where European horticulture once began, visitors now discover parks and green oases across the history of humanity, from the Stone Age to the present day. OUTLETCITY METZINGEN PREMIUM OUTLET SHOPPING LIKE SHOPPING LOVE OUTLETCITY!

UNIQUE INNER-CITY LOCATION

Somehow, the best stories come from life itself. Like the one of Metzingen, the hometown of Hugo Boss to the south of Stuttgart at the foot of the Swabian Alb. In the 1970s the textile center of the gentlemen’s tailor was located here in an old brick factory. Originally a quiet and unassuming sales outlet for the staff working for the gentlemen’s tailor, today it pulses with life as an internationally acclaimed shopping destination.

In Metzingen, outlet shopping does not take place in the open countryside, but is seen as a real inner-city shopping experience. A picturesque historic town, numerous buildings which are listed for preservation and a centuries-old tradition in viniculture – this is what visitors will find there. The enthusiasm for good wine and for excellent food and drink makes the Swabian restaurant culture nearly unsurpassable in its diversity and quality. Therefore Metzingen is offering a unique and attractive combination of history and cosmopolitan ambience.

MORE THAN 60 INTERNATIONAL PERMIUM BRANDS Since then, more than 60 international premium brands like Armani, Bally, Burberry, Coach, Escada, Hugo Boss, Joop!, Loro Piana, Max Mara, Michael Kors, Missoni, Polo Ralph Lauren and Swarovski present their merchandise in mainly flagship outlets. The innovative architectural style of the stores has been adapted individually to the corresponding image of the brands and offers the visitors not only large sales areas and therefore good merchandise availability, but also an architectural shopping experience of high quality. In addition, the products are reduced all year by 30 – 70 % compared to the former recommended retail price – this makes shopper’s heart flutter.

TOURISTIC MAGNET Swabian hospitality, regional and high-quality food, the biosphere reserve in a landscape like right out of a picture postcard as well as numerous touristic highlights in the region make it possible for the visitors to round off their shopping trip with a touristic program which offers everything – except for boredom.

SPECIAL OFFERS FOR THE TRAVEL INDUSTRY We offer a wide variety of customized offers, attractive discounts and possibilities for international collaboration.

Stuttgart Beer Festival 2015: Sep 25 – Oct 11 2016: Sep/Oct

Europe’s largest spring festival (and Germany’s largest spring beer festival) has a huge funfair, live bands and a 150-ft/47-m tall Ferris wheel. The 200-year-old event starts with the tapping of a barrel of beer by Stuttgart’s Lord Mayor.

Wine cooperatives and wine makers invite visitors to celebrate the best of local wine and food. Taste more than 400 wines; chat to producers; and sample local delicacies from the Baden region. On the Minster (Cathedral) square.

Grapes have grown in vineyards surrounding the city for 1,000 years. This wine festival turns Marktplatz, Schillerplatz and side streets into a ‘wine village’. Taste as many as 250 different local wines at some 120 decorated stalls.

Germany’s second-biggest beer festival is totally traditional: brass bands, folk costumes, crispy pork knuckles, and Steins of the special Festbier (festival beer). Alongside is a massive fairground, with Ferris wheels and rides.

For all, who love classical music, this international festival is a must. Established some 15 years ago, it features about 90 concerts and events, such as master classes by renowned artists plus up-and-coming young talents.

Entitled “Europe is a guest”, the ceremonies in the anniversary years 2014-2018 present themselves with fascinating personalities. 2015, the “Year of Justice“ pays tribute to Jan Hus. In 2016, “Living Middle Ages”, Imperia, moves into focus.

International Vintage Car Festival 2015: Jul 10 – 12 2016: Jul 8 – 10

Every summer, a carefully orchestrated ‘burning’ and 15-min firework display recall ancient battles and sieges of the castle. The splendid show lights up the castle ruins and the night sky.

This gleaming assembly of chrome is rated as Germany’s most beautiful classic car show. Held outside the Kurhaus every summer, it is a living-history parade of the automobile, from small cars to posh limousines.

300 years birthday celebration 2015: Jun 17 – Sep 27

Celebrities and artists gather each summer for an unforgettable festival set in circus tents. For some 30 years, this has offered great blues, jazz, soul, indie, pop, and rock. 100 free shows; 50 with tickets.

This festival dates back over 500 years – to 1507, when locals set off fireworks to honor the Kaiser. Now one of the largest in Europe, this lakeside show is set to music. Fun for families.

In the heart of the city, the Staatstheater Stuttgart is the largest three-stage theater in Europe. With its world-class companies, the theater offers more than 900 performances a year, from opera and ballet to drama.

Karlsruhe will be 300 years old in 2015. The city will be celebrating this round anniversary with a 15-week festival summer. There is a spectacular festival program with lots of cultural highlights beginning on June 20 in front of the palace.
