May 3, 2013 Volume 6, Issue 17 Please click on these web and social media icons for latest news and updates To request publicity for an announcement, send the pertinent details (who, what, when, where) to: USAG Red Cloud Public Affairs Office Annual Force Protection Exercise The 2nd Infantry Division and U.S. Army Area I and III garrisons will be participating in a regularly scheduled force protection exercise May 6 - 10. In Area I: FMWR facilities in Area I will be closed May 8, with the exception of ACS, CYSS and CDC, which will operate on their normal schedule. AAFES facilities will experience limited staffing and hours of operation May 8. The Camp Red Cloud Exchange will be open 7 a.m. - noon; the Casey Express 7a.m. - 1p.m.; and Camp Jackson Exchange 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. All other AAFES facilities will be closed on that day. Commissaries will operate on their normal schedules during the exercise. However, on May 8, the Camp Casey and CRC Commissaries will be closed. The community can also expect delays at the gates. The following gates are open to military vehicles and POVs with FPCON Delta access May 8: Camp Stanley Airfield Gate; Camp Red Cloud Front and Back gates; Camp Casey Main Gate and Camp Castle North Front Gate. The following gates will be open only to dispatched U.S. military vehicles: Camps Hovey and Mobile. This exercise is an annual requirement to ensure all Soldiers and Commands are properly trained for their base defense mission by rehearsing realistic scenarios assuming various threats. Community members are reminded to follow the directions of garrison and law enforcement officials throughout the exercise. Change to Incheon Shuttle Service FMWR Incheon Shuttle bus service during afternoon and evening hours has been halted during May because of staffing constraints. Service affected will be the 4 p.m. departure from Camp Casey; 5:30 p.m. Camp Red Cloud; 11 p.m. return from the airport. Morning shuttle service will continue to operate, as follows: Camp Casey, 6 a.m.; Camp Red Cloud, 7:05; return departure from Incheon, 10 a.m. For more information, call 730-6187. Early School Release Students at Casey Elementary School will be released early May 3 for teacher in-service. For more information, call 730-6444. Casey Library Reopening The Camp Casey Library has moved and will reopen May 3 in building 2403, across the street from Starbucks. It will mark the reopening at 3 p.m. with cake and balloons. Cinco de Mayo Rally A Cinco de Mayo celebration and motorcycle rally is scheduled for May 4 from 2 – 8 p.m. at the Gateway Club on Camp Casey. The day’s events are to feature live band performances, including those by a mariachi band; a Hispanic music marathon; a cultural dance performance; an Area I yard sale; raffle of a Harley Davidson 2013 Iron 883 motorcycle; a motorcycle display, a bike safety demonstration, motorcycle gear vendors; free food-andwine tasting; food-eating contests; a break-a-plate game, paint ball shooting gallery, face painting and hat-making, inflatable games, a piñata-breaking game, carnival games and other activities. Housing Offices Closed The Housing Offices at Camp Red Cloud and Camp Casey will be closed May 10 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. for training. Open Call Talent Search An open call talent search at Reggie’s Club on Camp Stanley is scheduled for 7 p.m. May 11. Single and unaccompanied military personnel are invited to showcase their talents in a broad range of areas, including singing, dance, spoken word, improvised instruments and more. Registration is required. Three winners will be selected to receive $100, $75, and $50. For more information, or to register, call 732-5417. Newborn Care Class A class – “New Born Basics/Bringing Home Baby” – covering the basics of how to care for newborns is scheduled for May 14 from noon – 2 p.m. at Army Community Service, bldg. 2451, on Camp Casey. 5K Fun Run A 5K fun run is scheduled for 7 a.m. May 19 at the Community Activity Center, bldg. 2236, on Camp Casey. Entry fee is $5. Deadline to sign up is May 16. Free T-shirts will be given to all registered participants. A $50 gift card and trophy will be awarded to the first male and female finishers. Open to single and unaccompanied U.S. and KATUSA Soldiers. The run is sponsored by the Better Opportunities for Single (and unaccompanied) Soldiers (BOSS) program. Army Signal Corps Regimental Ball The Army Signal Corps Regimental Ball is scheduled for 5 to 11 pm. May 17 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul. Tickets are $75. The event is to be hosted by the 1st Signal Brigade. Defense Department civilians, Korean National civilians, KATUSA Soldiers, contractors, and civilian guests may wear appropriate formal evening suits or tuxedos for males and appropriate formal evening gowns or dresses for females. The uniform for the ball is Dress Blue ASU or Dress Green uniform worn in accordance with AR-670-1. For tickets and more information, call 722-4113. Voting Action Line Eighth Army has established a Voting Action Line, at 7244071, that will inform citizens covered by the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act on their voting rights and how to register and vote absentee. The voting information and assistance provided is accurate and non-partisan.
