► American feminist and political activist Gloria Steinem, who explored creating media for social change. ► NBC Nightly News Anchor Lester Holt, who discussed transparency in media. ► Actor, director and producer Elizabeth Banks, who spoke about the importance of female-driven projects in Hollywood. ► The former president of Taiwan, prime minister of Spain, and the ambassadors of Greece and Pakistan to the United States, who met with public diplomacy students. ► Tony and Emmy Award-winner John Leguizamo, who spoke about his one-man show, Latin History for Morons. ► Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center, who explained how Russian hackers and trolls have exploited the U.S. media.

USC Annenberg faculty generate knowledge that is leading and defining the fields of communication, journalism, public relations, public diplomacy and digital social media. Twenty centers of research focus on matters of global importance, including addressing issues of inequality in entertainment, exploring health challenges across America, and studying the transformation of urban communities through a globalized lens.

USC Annenberg students and faculty collaborate to research complex problems and identify solutions. ► In partnership with USC Viterbi, students quantified, analyzed, visualized and reported on the wide-ranging impacts of COVID-19 across L.A. ► A social, digital and mass media class partnered with Warner Bros. to develop a marketing communications plan to attract more guests to their studio tours. ► Students in an emerging technology course taught people experiencing homelessness in L.A. how to tell their stories using 360-degree cameras and helped them get published internationally via Al Jazeera’s Contrast VR. ► Top executives from AECOM, a global Fortune 500 construction company, shared their expertise through a series of guest lectures in a strategic communication consulting course. ► Students in a nonprofit advocacy course presented their creative solutions to the global refugee crisis to partners at Twitter’s L.A. office.

LEAD Here is a snapshot of the ways in which our graduates are putting their talents and experience to use in this pivotal time. ► Our doctoral graduates go on to high-profile positions in academia, government, non-governmental organizations and business. ► Communication management and global communication alumni hold a wide array of positions — from associate product manager at Google, to global insights coordinator at William Morris Endeavor, to assistant brand manager at Proctor & Gamble. ► Journalism alumni dot the media landscape near and far — from local TV networks to national outlets such as ABC, CBS, Univision and CNN — as well as in positions like data visualization specialist at IBM, digital innovation and entertainment criticism fellow at Rotten Tomatoes, and content editor at Amazon. ► Digital social media alumni hold such positions as manager of brand and digital marketing at NBCUniversal and digital sales director at Hearst Digital Media.

► Public relations graduates work for the major agencies such as Edelman, Golin and Weber Shandwick, and in positions at organizations such as Apple, City of Hope and the LA Galaxy. ► Public diplomacy graduates work for think tanks, prominent non-governmental organizations and global institutions such as the World Bank and the United Nations.
