WELCOME

NEW FACU LT Y

2014

For many months, I have spoken about the strength of the faculty members who would soon join our team at USC Dornsife. I have told students, parents, alumni and other esteemed academics about this group of researchers and instructors whose passions and talents make them more than capable of changing the world. It gives me great pleasure to welcome you here officially and let you know that I have no more important mission as dean than to help you thrive. Your unparalleled ambitions, creative approaches to problem solving and genuine love of your fields are what draw our undergraduate and graduate students to USC Dornsife, and it is this synergistic relationship between you and your students that will continue to elevate the caliber of this college. By selecting the most successful and promising new faculty members, we are in turn investing in the level of excellence of the next generation of scholars — our students. I have no doubt that USC Dornsife will offer you an arena in which to transmit the knowledge you have already cultivated and to continue developing your research programs to extents that maybe even you had not imagined possible. Thanks to every member of our faculty, staff and administration who contributed to making this the institution in which you wish to further your careers. I am honored today to shift tense from future to present and welcome you as members of the USC Dornsife faculty. Steve Kay Dean, USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences Anna H. Bing Dean’s Chair
