THEIR WORDS
Scholarships help the best and brightest undergraduate and graduate students afford a world-class business and accounting education. Here is a snapshot of some of the gratitude our students feel towards donors:
“It is quite difficult to put into words how appreciative I am up for the financial support to pay for my MBA. By investing in me, you are also investing in the next generation of Latinos, minorities, those who come from poverty, and those who come from underrepresented backgrounds. I come from a Mexican immigrant family that grew up in Barrio Logan. I come from homelessness, low-poverty, and have persevered through some unimaginable challenges to get to where I am today. I promise you that your ROI will be greater than you can imagine. I will pay it forward and am guided by the same north star since I was a young boy. That is, making the biggest macro impact on the communities that lack resources.”

“ This award has unlocked many opportunities for me and inspires me to continue to be the best version of myself at all times. My next immediate long-term goal is to obtain a CPA license by the end of 2025. This scholarship has not only further inspired me to do so, but it provides me with the key that I need to unlock success in obtaining the license. With the proper planning, studying habits, CPA prep material, and money, I am certain that my dream of becoming a CPA will become true now thanks to you.”

“As a recipient of the Marshall Scholarship Fund, I would like to take this opportunity to express
my
endless
gratitude for your generous gift. I feel truly blessed and incredibly honored to have your support as I begin my junior year at the University of Southern California. Being a part of the Trojan family means the world to me; the school’s tremendous support and encouragement has enabled me to grow into the best version of myself, in turn helping me to shape the world into the best version of itself. Overall, this award is not only one that will lighten my family’s commitment towards my financial obligations but also one that will continue to allow me to direct every ounce of my focus towards classes, clubs, social work, and internships.”

“ When I was applying to colleges, I was keen on pursuing something that blended business and computer science. My interest in a dual-discipline major stemmed from my high school experience, where I delved into both computer science and business classes. Seeing the impact of AI in my father’s work at IBM, especially with traditional AI chatbots, solidified my belief in its relevance to the business field. This major at USC seemed like the perfect fit, offering not just technical and interpersonal skills but also the chance to apply these concepts in real-world scenarios where AI and business intersect.”
- MEGAN, BUAI 2024 INAUGURAL COHORT
Through the generosity of annual donors Marshall continues to offer innovative educational opportunities that align with the school’s mission to educate the next generation of tech-fluent trailblazers.
In Fall 2023, the USC Marshall School of Business launched a new joint undergraduate degree, Artificial Intelligence for Business (BUAI), in partnership with the USC Viterbi School of Engineering. The innovative degree brings together the expertise of two of the top business and engineering schools in the country to provide a unique learning experience for students. This pioneering, forward-looking degree program offers students the opportunity to develop their technical, business and leadership skills to pursue careers in one of the fastestgrowing parts of the tech sector.
Associate Professor of Data Sciences and Operations, Kimon Drakopoulos’ leadership in integrating AI with business strategy has been instrumental in BUAI’s successful launch, reflecting the high caliber of faculty who drive cuttingedge education.

SPOTLIGHT: HUMAN LEADERSHIP
Global Leadership Program
Annual funds play a vital role in providing students with the resources to develop the skills needed to tackle the societal and ethical challenges of business, ensuring they are prepared to lead in a rapidly changing global environment.
For example, the Global Leadership Program (GLP) is the USC Marshall undergraduate business program’s preeminent learning experience designed to give freshmen a transformative personal and leadership development experience. No other business school offers a similar program.
GLP is a year-long, invitation-only program for 80-100 freshmen, featuring a two-semester course design. In the fall, students focus on leadership skills through workshops and guest lectures. The spring shifts to global business, ending with an 8-day trip to countries like China, Thailand, or Australia. In summer, students can apply for international internships in Greater Asia, including cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. The latest GLP cohort reported they had a deeper understanding of international business after vising Thai companies like Thai Union, Ocean Glass, CP Group & True Digital Park, Oasis Spa Lanna, and SCG Packing, all students reported a deeper understanding of international business. These internships are often supported by donor funds to help cover travel and living expenses.
These international travel experiences were made possible through scholarship funding, a lifeline for low-income, firstgeneration college students like myself. I am truly thankful to those who made it possible for me to partake in experiences that were once beyond my wildest dreams. As the daughter of immigrant parents, their encouragement to put my best foot forward resonates deeply in this journey.”
