GOING FOR GOLD An exciting new school for 11-16 year olds is set to open at Fernwood, Newark, from September 2014. Majoring in science and business education, the Newark School of Enterprise can assure parents and children of individual attention: when it starts, there will only be a maximum of 150 children – all in year 7! They will be assured of an excellent education. Does Newark need another secondary school? Yes, is the view of Andrew Cutts-MacKay, Principal of Newark Enterprise School, and the reason is simple economics. “Two schools offer only an alternative. Three schools offer parents and children a real choice. Millions of pounds from the government is available here and now for this unique 8

project. Make no mistake, the money cannot be transferred into other schools or held over till next year. It is a one-off boost for Newark’s economy. We should be seizing this opportunity.” “The money is there now, but will not be there in a year’s time,” said Project Director Tony Henton, an ex-RAF Warrant Officer, “This is the only opportunity for a new school in a generation. Parents of Newark children: apply now, or lose a fabulous alternative to existing education in the Newark area.” Andrew spent seven years in the RAF, took a degree in engineering, then an MBA, worked as an engineering manager for Ford and BTR and ran a 600-strong workforce for
