NEWARK SCHOOL OF ENTERPRISE NEWARK SCHOOL OF ENTERPRISE:

GOING FOR GOLD An exciting new school for 11-16 year olds is set to open at Fernwood, Newark, from September 2014. Majoring in science and business education, the Newark School of Enterprise can assure parents and children of individual attention: when it starts, there will only be a maximum of 150 children – all in year 7! They will be assured of an excellent education. Does Newark need another secondary school? Yes, is the view of Andrew Cutts-MacKay, Principal of Newark Enterprise School, and the reason is simple economics. “Two schools offer only an alternative. Three schools offer parents and children a real choice. Millions of pounds from the government is available here and now for this unique 8

project. Make no mistake, the money cannot be transferred into other schools or held over till next year. It is a one-off boost for Newark’s economy. We should be seizing this opportunity.” “The money is there now, but will not be there in a year’s time,” said Project Director Tony Henton, an ex-RAF Warrant Officer, “This is the only opportunity for a new school in a generation. Parents of Newark children: apply now, or lose a fabulous alternative to existing education in the Newark area.” Andrew spent seven years in the RAF, took a degree in engineering, then an MBA, worked as an engineering manager for Ford and BTR and ran a 600-strong workforce for

Capital will be paid from the government to the local landowner as well as providing jobs both during and after the school is constructed. Pupils can expect to receive an excellent standard of technical and innovation education with a strong management outlook and high aspirations in the jobs market. In September 2014 Newark School of Enterprise will welcome 150 students at Year 7 and will increase year on year to a capacity of 750 places. It is currently an 11-16 school which intends to apply for sixth form status at an early stage.

DEMA glass manufacturing before embarking on his successful career in education. A new bike, subsidised transport, free uniform and free PE kits are among the perks available for children applying to the Newark School of Enterprise. Even more exciting are the business sponsors being approached to offer fantastic new experiences. One of those being approached is Airfield Anarchy. They run outdoor team-building sessions on an assault course based at the World War II Winthorpe Aerodrome, with 5KM and 10Km mud-runs. Sounds fun for catching some real adventure this summer! Apply to the Newark School of Enterprise now for a chance to mud-run and meet some fun people. Nottingham County Council research shows that Newark is losing out on 800 school-age students every year who choose 10

to be educated elsewhere. “This is the untapped market we are aiming for, “ he explained to the audience at Newark Business Club,” and it is worth £5million a year in government funding. How many new businesses could get that kind of funding? What a fantastic opportunity for Newark.” Savings on transport costs for any parents who are currently sending their children to out-of-town schools will also be considerable. A school is a large-scale economic driver, attracting millions of pounds of funding into the local area. The Newark School of Enterprise is a big enterprise in itself, expecting to provide over 100 teaching jobs and further contracts for

A new school will make a big difference to the catchment area in and around Newark. Research shows that residential house prices rise and inward investment increases at the initiation of a new educational facility. “Look at the difference the university has made to the economy of Lincoln,” said Andrew, “Newark could expect house prices to rise to the level of Southwell on the news of a new Enterprise School in the town.” We are currently welcoming applications from students and expect a full house and all systems go when the Government gives us the final go-ahead next week.” Parents should apply now to be part of this great Enterprise.
