Whatever you choose, you can be sure that is it something that Denise has chosen herself, with the same attention her grandmother would have given to everything.

Nestled beside adorable gifts, are home and garden accessories, quirky signs and plaques, cushions, mirrors, lamps, occasional furniture. For a more personal piece there are beautiful cold cast bronze sculptures of hares, hounds and cats, and a superb range of scarves, jewellery, and leather goods. Theres also hand-made greeting cards to go along with your treasures.

"The feedback has been tremendous" Denise said.

"People say it is a beautiful shop, and just what Newark needs." Gracegentle's Facebook page is full of praise from customers. "I love visiting Gracegentle." said one. "The range and quality of the items is fantastic and I love the amazing candles and oils - they smell divine." I know exactly what they mean!

Customers are also pleased to find pieces not available anywhere else in the area.

These include contemporary jewellery from Dansk Smykkekunst, home accessories from Lene Bjerre, decorated scented candles and reed diffusers from Stoneglow, timeless leather goods from Bolla Bags and Tumble & Hide and the adorable cold cast bronze ornaments of hares, hounds and cats by Frith Sculptures.

Not that the prices at Gracegentle are high, the attention to details ensures that stock is carefully chosen with an eye on both quality and value.

"The image of the shop gives the impression that prices are high, but people are pleasantly surprised when they come in to find how reasonable things are," Denise said.

When preparing to open Gracegentle, Denise spent hours researching suppliers and seeking advice on what to stock.

In the end, she decided to opt for classic, timeless pieces that she would like to have in her own home.

Her instinct proved right.

Gracegentle is full of beautiful, stylish items that would complement any home. Many pieces are in natural colours and materials that look equally at

home in traditional or contemporary settings.

Wood, glass, leather, silver and bronze feature strongly, as they have a timeless quality that is widely appealing.

Denise is already choosing stock for the coming season, with one eye of the Christmas market, of
