Are you living off-campus? There’s no reason to miss out on the Welcome Week fun! Check in prior to 7:30 p.m. outside UC 2220 to pick up your Welcome Week schedule and your free USI student planner. Stay for the meeting to discuss topics unique to commuter students and learn all about getting to class on time, where to park, what to do between classes and much more. Get useful tips on how to be a successful commuter student by getting involved and staying connected at USI.

The annual Cultural Diversity Welcome Reception helps participants build bridges and friendships within the USI community while emphasizing academic excellence. Welcome Week officially kicks off with the Unpack and Unwind New Student Dinner. The USI Alumni Association and Parents and Families Association invite you and your family to join us for a picnic dinner at the University Center. Take a break from unpacking! Come as you are, grab some food and enjoy time with other students and their families.

RFWC (Recreation, Fitness and Wellness Center) Come check out the Recreation, Fitness and Wellness Center! Ultimate Frisbee is an exciting, non-contact team sport that combines the best features of soccer, American football and Frisbee throwing. USI has its own men’s and women’s Ultimate Frisbee club teams that compete in the Great Lakes region with teams from Notre Dame, Michigan and Illinois. Come learn more about the game and USI’s teams, and enjoy a game of Ultimate Frisbee.

As part of your UNIV 101 course content, you are required to participate in Eagle Experience: UNIV 101. The program will cover issues facing college students through large group presentations and small group discussions. You will have the opportunity to connect with other new students along with Welcome Week Leaders, AMIGOS and Resident Assistants. You are assigned a session based on your UNIV 101 section number on your fall schedule.

USI is one of the few universities across the country that has an 18hole Disc Golf course. Disc Golf is a cross between throwing a Frisbee and playing golf. The Screaming Eagles Valley Complex is located near O’Bannon Hall behind Parking Lot E, so come out and play a round of Disc Golf!

The Block Party has been a Welcome Week tradition for years as USI as students say goodbye to summer and get ready for the first day of classes. It is the perfect way to spend your last afternoon before college starts. Enjoy great music, prizes and shaved ice from the Kona Ice Truck! This is a good chance to make new friends and learn more about the great organizations that sponsor this amazing event.

New Beginnings Lake Bring your swimsuit and sunscreen for a day of fun, swimming, water swings, paddle boats, land and water volleyball, basketball, free food and more! The University will provide transportation from the Community Center and the RFWC to take students to the lake, or drive yourself. Directions leaving USI: Head west on the Lloyd Expressway (Hwy 62), travel .5 miles and turn right onto McDowell Road. At the stop sign, turn left onto Middle Mt.
