what's it all about? IN SHORT -
On StudentTravel.com’s CAMP USA programme, you’ll spend up to 10 weeks working at an American summer camp. This is one of the best ways to experience American culture, develop new skills and make lifelong friends from all over the world. After camp you’ll have 30 days to explore the USA. Making it a truly a life-changing summer!

THE ‘CAMP COUNSELLOR’ ROLE
As a camp counsellor, your main focus is the well-being of the campers, ensuring they get the most from their camp experience in a fun, friendly and safe environment. You will live in a cabin with 10-12 campers and 2-3 staff members. All meals are provided at camp. Along with supervising a cabin, you may be hired to run a certain activity based on your skills and previous experiences. You may also be asked to assist with other activities.
TIME OFF
Camp is unbelievably fun, but it’s also a lot of hard work. From breakfast to bedtime you are on the go, with a few breaks along the way. You’ll have various days & nights off throughout the summer to hang out with friends, go to the movies, shop and most importantly re-energize.
AFTER CAMP
Camp may come to an end, but the adventure doesn’t have to. Once your contract finishes, you’ll have a month to travel and explore the US. Popular post-camp destinations include New York City, Washington D.C and Miami Beach. Some opt for the freedom of the open road, heading out west to explore National Parks, such as the Grand Canyon & Yosemite National Park.
Most camps cater to kids aged 7 – 17. Typically, camps are in rural setting, on a lake with a variety of facilities like sports fields, arts & crafts, outdoor adventure courses, water sports and horse riding - all on site.

I’ve worked at Camp Takajo in Maine for the past two summers as a ceramics counsellor. Summer camp is a fantastic way to meet new people from all over the world and to live and work in a really fun environment. No day is the same! If you want to make new friends, a lot of fun and adventure, summer camp is for you! You just have to be an enthusiastic, friendly and patient person and love working with kids because they’re everywhere!! :) My favourite memories of camp are singing camp songs at the top my lungs, making great connections with the kids and participating in activities I never thought I would do! You really feel like a kid again! One of the camp mottos is, “Be Childlike, not Childish”, and you live by this every day. Camp gave me the chance to work in America, experience a new way of life, and meet some amazing people I will be friends with for life! I tell everyone I meet about my summers and tell them to stop thinking about it and just do it! :) - Cathy

You will interview with one of our Camp Reps. These guys are fantastic and will arrange your interview when it’s convenient for you. The Camp Reps have all been to camp and will be able to answer any questions you have about the experience.
4. PLACEMENT
Once you’ve made it through the interview, it’s our turn to do some work and find the perfect camp for you!

ORIENTATION DAY
At Orientation Day you’ll get clear information about your US Embassy interview, travel, insurance and lots more.
6.
SUMMER OF YOUR LIFE!
It’s time to pack your bags and head off on the greatest adventure of your life! A camp representative will meet you when you land and guide you to your new home away from home!
