TRADEME & LOCAL MARKETS TradeMe is a website commonly used by New Zealanders for a bargain, it sells pretty much everything, most of which are second hand and in good condition, however, some item can be new. One way people in New Zealand save money on standard items, like fruit and vegitables shopping, is by attending local markets instead of buying everything in grocery stores. The markets are much cheaper and are of the same quality as the stores.

Asking for a discount for cash on large items is common in New Zealand and is usually around 10%. It’s especially effective if you are buying a few different things from one retailer so it can be very beneficial to deal in cash while living here.
