“I greatly enjoyed my studies with Dr. McIlwain. He consistently challenges me to have a musical approach to everything I worked on. He works hard to shape each student’s studies to fit their current academic and future career needs.” – Craig Watson, DMA student “He’s not only teaching us how to play the instrument or how to teach, but how to think for ourselves and how to develop our own ideas for musical interpretations. His end goal is to work himself out of a job; that is, to make us independent of him as performers and instrumentalists.” – Kyle Moore, BM/BME student
