Oleg Safronoff is never satisfied with a conventional reflection of reality in
painting. Such a creative task is too narrow for him; his “super-task” is to make
each of his works into a message. The artist changes the very connotations of
realism, transforming reality with his imagination and keen insight. Oleg Safronoff
“writes” his message to the viewer, painting realistic portraits of ideal subjects.
His male portraits (like the “Rusichi” [Men of Rus] series) – super drawings in
colour pencil on black paper – personify the high spiritual standards and masculine
strength of their idealized subjects. The artist attains strong results in
communication with his audience.
