JULY 19 - 26, 2021 KENTUCKY HORSE PARK LEXINGTON, KY FESTIVAL CHAMPIONSHIPS Every three years, USPC members converge upon the Kentucky Horse Park for a single national Championships. Championships includes competition in eight Pony Club disciplines, and this year includes Invitational Gymkhana and Western Trail competitions. Don’t miss out on competing and seeing the best of the best at USPC Festival Championships 2021!
FESTIVAL EDUCATION Pony Club’s foundation is built on education and mounted clinics; and unmounted education is an essential part of Festival. Pony Club members and all equine enthusiasts are invited to participate in the mounted clinics, and unmounted workshops following Championships. Mounted clinic opportunities include cross–country, distance riding, western dressage, polocrosse, show jumping, dressage, games, hunter seat equitation, and groundwork. Unmounted workshops include equine nutrition, numerous veterinary topics, national certification preps, while the Masters Clinic series features professionals demonstrating their sport. Additionally, limited attendance opportunities include an early Monday morning Mock Foxhunt, D–Camp, and the Lendon Gray’s Dressage4Kids Program.

COVID-19 CONSIDERATIONS
Currently, this means spectators are not allowed at the event. Attendance is limited to competitors, participants, chaperones, coaches, parents, competition, and event staff. The organizing committee will continue to monitor the situation and updated information shared closer to the event. We are counting on all attendees to do their part to help make our upcoming event as safe as possible. The following COVID-19 social distancing and safety practices reflect the current requirements we expect for the event. USPC, KHP, USEF, and other applicable groups may modify these mitigation protocols before our event. 1. Face coverings are required for all attendees when on grounds and not mounted. 2. Everyone in attendance will practice social distancing during the event, including maintaining six feet of separation (both indoors and outdoors). Building and spectator capacities may be limited to account for social distancing and based on current public health department guidelines. 3. Handwashing and sanitizing stations will be provided throughout the venue. 4. Anyone who has experienced COVID-19 symptoms within the previous seven days is asked to stay home. COVID-19 symptoms include fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, or shortness of breath. As excited as we are about USPC Festival 2021, we also recognize that this is a continually evolving situation. USPC may need to adjust or cancel events in the case of identified risk, such as changes in local COVID conditions or known instances of non-compliance with safety guidelines. We indeed are stronger together. With your help, we look forward to a safe and successful summer!

GENERAL INFORMATION
USPC has a long-standing commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of members, mounts, and volunteers. While there is no way to eliminate all risks related to COVID-19, USPC Festival 2021 will be conducted according to the current KHP, USEF, local, state, and national guidelines and requirements.
GENERAL INFORMATION
USPC GENERAL ADMISSION Admission is FREE to Festival Championships, the Trade Fair, Members’ Showcase, Gymkhana Invitational, Western Trail Invitational and Championships Educational Workshops. If the Championships Educational Workshops whetted your appetite for more, onsite registration is available at the Show Office for the Unmounted Festival Education workshops for Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
KENTUCKY HORSE PARK ADMISSION
KENTUCKY HORSE PARK RULES & REGULATIONS Detailed participant information regarding parking, golf carts, and other information are available on the Kentucky Horse Park website. While the highlights of the information are included in the following document, all Festival attendees are responsible for reviewing and abiding by all KHP regulations while onsite.
TRADE FAIR The USPC Trade Fair of local businesses and sponsors will be located in the Covered Arena and around competition venues, including Shop Pony Club.
PARKING Parking Pass All vehicles must purchase a $15/vehicle/event parking pass from the front gate of KHP. The pass must be displayed at all times. Passenger Vehicles Parking permitted in designated areas only, and there is NO PARKING on any grass at KHP. GOLF CARTS All golf cart or other motorized vehicle drivers must have valid driver’s license, follow all posted signage, and be parked in appropriate areas.
A Kentucky Horse Park (KHP) admission for the world–renowned International Museum of the Horse, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the American Saddlebred Museum, and live equine presentations, is included in the entry fee price for all Championships competitors and Education participants. Competitors and participants should stop by the USPC Show Office to pick up their wristband. Additional KHP admission tickets can be purchased from the Show Office for friends and family.

Trailers All trailers MUST be parked in the designated trailer parking lot, behind the Alltech Arena, across from the Secretariat Center. NO trailer parking in the front lot of KHP or any location designated with “No Trailer Parking” signage. Inappropriately parked trailers will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Golf carts will have limited access in some areas, and signs will be posted. Golf carts are not allowed in the barns. Those violating the golf cart rules will be subject to a fine. Golf Carts available for rent onsite from Cunningham Golf & Utility Vehicles, 859–233–7921. USEF Motorized Vehicle Statement Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind, including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above-described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from the rule.

ONSITE DINING The Kentucky Horse Park offers several dining and food options onsite including the Iron Works Café located next to the Visitors Information Center. The Paddock Café/Patio Bar located next to the Show Office and the Campground Store.
ICE Bagged ice can be purchased onsite from Dever, next to Barn 21.
DOGS AND PETS No dogs are allowed in the barns or indoor venues. Dogs are allowed on the premises provided they are leashed at all times. Dogs must be on a short leash and never left unattended. No animals other than competition horses are allowed in the barn area.

LOCAL WEATHER As Kentucky can be very hot and humid at this time of year, please make sure participants and horses are prepared for these conditions. Chaperones should be prepared to furnish their participants with plenty of appropriate liquids, fruit, etc., and check each day to see that sufficient liquid is being consumed. Participants are expected to have an ample supply of water and, if necessary, electrolytes for their mounts. Commercially Shipped Horses Must have authorized horse-knowledgeable representatives to meet the van on arrival and be able to care for horses until competitors are on the grounds. Plan enough individuals as appropriate for the number of mounts on the van and to be at the barns BEFORE the horses are scheduled to arrive. Long hauls are stressful on horses. EQUINE TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Equine Travel Requirements and Veterinary Health Papers Traveling with your equine across state lines takes careful planning and forethought. Changes in travel requirements change from day to day because of ongoing disease outbreaks and concerns. As a horse owner, it is your responsibility to verify the requirements in place at the time of your travel. At date of publication, all horses must have a negative Coggins within one year, and a CVI (Certificate of Veterinary Health) within 30 days. Coggins and CVI must be valid for the duration of the competition and travel to and from Kentucky. All horses must also have proof of EHV- 1, EHV-4 , (Rhinopneumonitis) and Influenza within the past 6 months. A reminder, these requirements may change, and it is the competitor/ owner’s responsibility to adhere to all equine transportation requirements. CY

Manure Disposal All manure and used shavings removed from stalls or trailers must be placed in the manure pits, not at the end of the barns, and not in trashcans. Empty shaving bags must be placed in trashcans, and NOT in the manure pits.
Posters, flyers and other printed materials shall not be stapled on any building. They may be posted on designated bulletin boards only. Stall Assignments Championships stall assignments will be emailed to the competitor on Monday, July 19 and Education stall assignments will be emailed to the participant the week of July 19. All stabling assignments will be posted on the Stabling page of the website. We are unable to accommodate any special stabling requests.
Medical Waste Hazardous medical waste (needles and syringes and other medical supplies) must be discarded in appropriate sharps containers in the barn, and must not be discarded in stalls, manure pits, or trashcans.
Championships Team Tack & Feed Rooms Stabling, plus a team tack room and feed room, is included in the entry fee, and covers from 12 noon on Monday, July 19 until 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 24. Education Participant Tack & Feed Rooms Stabling, plus a shared tack/feed room, is included in the registration fee, and covers from 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 24 until 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27.
STALL CARDS
All Championships mounted competitors and Education mounted participants must have a completed stall card including mount information and owner contact information. These stall cards should be left on the stalls upon move out to help identify the stalls have been stripped.
All Championships mounted competitors and Education mounted participants will be required to send a $50 stall deposit check directly to the USPC National Office, which will be destroyed following verification of their stall being stripped. Any competitor/participant who does not strip their stall will lose their stall deposit. Those participating in both Championships and Education must submit two separate $50 stall deposits.

Competitors must wear their armband with medical card or bracelet, and must have a responsible adult (18 yrs. or older) with them at all times when hacking. The adult will be responsible for a safety check and may be mounted or unmounted.
Education Hacking and Longeing Hacking and longeing of mounts must take place only in the designated locations. Hacking locations and information will be included in the Participant Arrival Email to all participants. Participants must wear their armband with medical card or bracelet, and must have a responsible adult (18 yrs. or older) with them at all times when hacking. This adult will be responsible for the safety check.
No arrivals prior to noon on July 19 and no layovers after 8 a.m. on July 27. Additional stabling within those dates may be booked using the online form available June 15 - July 8 on the USPC website.

Championships Exercising and Schooling (Hacking) and Longeing Exercising and schooling of mounts must take place only in the designated locations. Once competition commences, no hacking will be allowed through the completion of the competition.

SPECIAL EVENTS Opening Ceremony A celebration of our members achievements, all competitors are invited to walk with their region in the Opening Ceremony. No animals will be allowed in the arena. Member Showcase Competitors who have earned a national certification will be exhibiting their talents Thursday evening under the lights of the Rolex Arena! Come watch USPC’s finest demonstrate Dressage Musical Freestyles, Mounted Games, Gymkhana, Polocrosse, Show Jumping from Eventing, Show Jumping, Tetrathlon, Western Dressage, Are you Smarter Than a Quiz Competitor Trivia, and includes recognition of all stable managers that have earned a national certification. Competitor Party A competitor party will be held on Thursday evening in conjunction with the Member Showcase. Each competitor will receive one ticket in their competitor packet. The process for purchasing additional tickets will be posted on the Championships Competition Information page of the USPC website.

Dressage — A View From C* An interactive workshop led by Lois Yukins, USEF ‘S’ judge, and one of the country’s most popular and sought after judges. This workshop will cover what judges are looking for during your test, ways to improve your performance, and various insights to highlight your mount’s strengths. Eventing — Cross-Country Course Walk Strategy* Walking your cross-country course can be an intimidating proposition for even the most experienced competitor. Join your Cross-Country course designer William Robertson as he steps you through his thought process as a designer while he is creating the course and what you should be thinking about as the rider preparing for the course. Eventing — Vet Box Participants will familiarize themselves with vet box procedures, resources, and basic principles for pulling up and cooling out after cross-country. Briefing will also cover post-cool down strategies to ensure horses (and riders!) are comfortable, sound, and feeling their best for the Jumping Test on the final day of competition. Games — Strategies for Games Play* Who knew there was more to playing mounted games than just going fast? This workshop covers strategies for creating effective lineups, improving teamwork among members, and specific game play scenarios according to various game being played. Polocrosse—Ultimate Warm-Up Unmounted Racket Skills* Competitors in all divisions and guests new to polocrosse will hone racket handling from the nation's high-grade players. Participants warm up for competition while meeting players on the ground in skill-based drills culminating in an ultimate game for the whole group. Rackets available to loan for the workshop.
Quiz — Straight from the Horse's Mouth* Learn about how an often forgotten part of the equine anatomy is essential to a healthy horse. Join Marty Whitehouse Riney, veterinarian and Pony Club Graduate “A” as she discusses equine dental anatomy. Show Jumping — What to Know When Walking Your SJ Course* Everyone knows they should walk their courses prior to competition, but why? Join the experts as they explain what you should be thinking about and their thoughts as they design courses. Show Jumping — How to Ride an Optimum Time Round and a Two-Phase/Power & Speed Round Learn from the jumping judge how to ride these two new rounds being offered at championships. Tetrathlon — Show Me the Way — Walking Your Riding Course* Join your course designer, William Robertson, as he takes you through what you should be thinking about as you walk the course. During the session, Tetrathlon Committee Chair, Nichole Fisher, will share hints and tips on being as precise and efficient as possible at the slip rail and gate. ALL awards presentations are scheduled to occur in the Covered Arena. Quiz Awards presentation on Thursday at 5 p.m. and Mounted Discipline Awards presentations on Friday afternoon are unlikely to start until 5 p.m. so please plan accordingly. Overall Awards Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals will be awarded to the overall winning team in each division of each discipline (Tetrathlon pins individual division winners). Placing ribbons awarded to all competitors. Horse Management Awards All mounted disciplines will receive Horse Management team placing ribbons. First place teams will receive Margo Leithead awards. Discipline Specific Awards Please see discipline sections below for information about discipline awards.
American Connemara Pony Society Award Awarded to the highest placed registered Connemara purebred or half-bred in Dressage, Eventing, and Show Jumping Championships divisions. To be eligible, a copy of the pony’s registration must be submitted to the Discipline Secretary prior to the competition. Cleveland Bay USPC Championships Award Awarded to the highest placed registered pure or part- bred Cleveland Bay in the Championships divisions of all mounted disciplines. To be eligible, competitors must complete the application by July 1 of the competition year. For more information visit clevelandbay.org or email info@clevelandbay.org. Draft Cross Breeders and Owners Association Rising Star Award Top scoring DCBOA rider (riding a DCBOA registered horse) in Dressage, Eventing, Show Jumping, Polocrosse or Tetrathlon in the Championships divisions. Thoroughbred Incentive Program (TIP) Awards All Championships divisions of Dressage, Eventing, Polocrosse, Show Jumping, Tetrathlon and Western Dressage at Championships are eligible for TIP Awards. Open to all Thoroughbreds registered with The Jockey Club or a foreign Thoroughbred stud book recognized by The Jockey Club. Riders and Owners must apply for a TIP Number (there is no fee to apply, more information at tjctip.com). Competitors must submit their TIP number when filling out the mount information in their Championships Entry.

CHAMPIONSHIPS ENTRY INFORMATION
Entry Process — Individual Registrations Now Required Entries shall be submitted using a new process. During the entry period, all eligible competitors will receive an email outlining the registration process with a link. Competitors will be required to enter and pay for their entry prior to the noon EDT, June 28 entry deadline. Complete entries will require competitor mount, chaperone, and volunteer information. Incomplete entries requiring additional information will incur a late fee of $25 per competitor. Following the entry of individual competitors, RSs will merge region teams and assign team chaperone, coach, and volunteers.
Cancellations and Refunds Only cancellations made by the closing date of June 28 at noon EST, will receive a refund, less a $50 administrative fee. Refund requests must be emailed by the competitor, to activities@ponyclub.org. No Requests for refunds will be granted after the closing date. (NOTE: cancelled divisions or disciplines due to lack of entries may transfer to another eligible discipline or will receive a full refund.)
CHAMPIONSHIPS ENTRY INFORMATION
VOLUNTEERS, CHAPERONES, & COACHES Volunteers (Mandatory Requirement): Each team must have a volunteer per competitor to assist with Championships. During the entry process competitors must submit volunteer information. We welcome additional volunteers who may sign up by contacting activitiescoordinator@ponyclub.org.
EXCEPTIONS /SUBSTITUTIONS Exceptions Due to the postponement of Festival 2020, the eligibility period for Championships was extended to June 1, 2019— June 27, 2021. Recognizing the difficulty of currently hosting rallies, members without access to a rally are encouraged to apply for exceptions. Exceptions can be submitted following the criteria outline found on the Championships Competition Information page. There are no exceptions for age or certifications.
Chaperones Any team or competitor under the age of majority must have an official chaperone listed who is at least 21 years of age, included in their entry. This person will act as the contact for that team. All chaperone forms will be completed online prior to arrival. Competitors above the age of majority must submit emergency contact information with their entry. Coaches Coaches are mandatory in Show Jumping and allowed in all other mounted disciplines. Each coach incurs a $15 per discipline fee. All coach forms must be completed online prior to arrival. Refer to appropriate coach forms and rulebooks for details about coaching responsibilities and expectations.
Substitutions Eligible horse substitutions can be requested and are subject to the discipline rules and committee approval. Refer to applicable discipline rulebooks and annual newsletters for eligibility requirements. Eligible substitutions must come from the RS and be submitted by noon ET on July 18, through the online Championships Horse Substitution Form. Failure to abide by the following procedures will result in the entry being refused. Organizers reserve the right to refuse any entry. Forms must be complete with all required signatures and postmarked by the closing date. All Rallies Must Finish On or Before June 27, 2021

ARRIVAL EMAIL
ARRIVAL DATES All riding disciplines may arrive starting at noon on Monday, July 19 and they must arrive by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20. All mounts must remain on the grounds for the duration of the competition. NO EARLY ARRIVALS, a list of early arrival options is available on the Championships Competition Information Page of the website. Layovers can be arranged at $75/ night through Erin Woodall, activities@ponyclub.org.
ARRIVAL PROCEDURE Stall assignments will be sent via email on July 19. All vehicles should enter through the main KHP entrance gate. Passenger vehicles should stay in the left lane and all trailers should use the right lane. Trailers will be routed to the right into the staging area where they will proceed through the veterinary paperwork check and receive their stall assignments if they do not have them already.Vehicles and trailers should unload as quickly as possible and depart the barn area. No vehicles or trailers allowed in the barn area for the duration of competition and until after that discipline completes their awards. Mounts should arrive between the hours of noon - 10:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19 or 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20. No arrivals outside of these hours.
DEPARTURE PROCEDURE Barns will not be opened to begin move out until after awards for that discipline are completed. No trailers or vehicles are allowed into the barn area until authorized by Traffic and Parking. Championships layovers can be arranged at $75/night, using the online form available June 15 - July 8.
All competitor packets will be available on Tuesday, July 20 from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at the discipline offices. Review Competitor Arrival email with detailed information about office locations.
BARN HOURS Barns open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. Barns are open from 8:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. for competitors only during night checks during competition.
HORSE MANAGEMENT EXPECTATIONS USPC Horse Management practices will be in effect from arrival to departure for ALL competitors. HM Judging will commence at noon Tuesday, July 19. Please carefully review the USPC Horse Management Handbook 2021 and the 2021 Horse Management Newsletter prior to arrival on the competition grounds. Each team must send at least one competitor for night checks each night. Only competitors are allowed in the barns for night checks and they must wear appropriate footwear. The Overall Championships Organizer must approve any competitor requests for barn access outside of posted barn hours. Horse Management Expectations Horse Management judging will be based on the 2021 Horse Management Handbook and will be judged the same across all divisions. Championships Divisions Competitors need to know and come prepared to demonstrate their knowledge of Horse Management skills. Modified Championships Divisions Competitors need to know and come prepared to demonstrate their knowledge of Horse Management skills. If a competitor is unprepared to demonstrate to the standard, the HM staff will help by advising while the competitor will take an active role in completing the task. Modified Championships divisions will adhere to the same judging as Championships divisions but will be structured to allow additional education to members as needed. Expanded education opportunities may include one-on-one in the moment, and Horse Management staff time with individual teams to expound on a specific topics.

USEF Membership Statement Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2)exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot (exception: Friesian performance FR222) and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.

DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC AWARDS USEA Individual Ribbons 1st-10th place individual divisions. Frank Bierman Award for Excellence in Eventing Awarded annually in honor of Frank Bierman, former facilities manager at the Virginia Horse Center. This award goes to the Training Level Championships competitor that has a clean cross-country ride closest to the optimum time and whose horse has an acceptable recovery rate and completes the competition without being eliminated in any phase in the championship division. The recipient will receive an engraved Jefferson cup, as well as having their name added to the perpetual trophy on display at the USPC headquarters in Lexington, Kentucky.

Modified Championships: Fewer chukkas will be played to accommodate HM's educational schedule and the discipline workshop in the modified divisions. The number of chukkas played and the amount of time per chukka will be based on the number of teams entered. Pinnies/Jerseys: Each team will be required to bring their own team shirts or pinnies with playing position numbers. Mounts: In the Intermediate and Advanced Divisions, all mounts are to be 14 H or larger. Competitors may request an exception to compete with mounts less than 14 hands.
DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC AWARDS The American Polocrosse Award for Exemplary Sportsmanship: This award will be given annually to the USPC Polocrosse competitor (including stable managers), whose actions and behavior best exemplify excellent sportsmanship during the USPC Championships competition in the championship division. APA will award the recipient with an APA pin and one-year’s paid membership to the APA. Selection will be made by the chief umpire, CHMJ, and the TD. The “Cadillac Memorial Trophy”: This is an annual award given by the Diemer Family in memory of their great Polocrosse mare Cadillac. Along with the honor of being named, the best horse is awarded a leather halter with nameplate “Best Horse”. This will be awarded in the championship division. Selection will be made by the umpires, based on fitness, agility, and responsiveness of the mount.

TETRATHLON
Horses: Competitors are to bring their own mount or share a suitable mount. The competitor must inform the secretary of all horse sharing arrangements. There will not be a pool of horses available, nor will the organizer arrange horse matching. Those who, out of necessity, are riding unfamiliar mounts will have an opportunity to ride that horse before a panel consisting of the organizer, riding steward, and TD to ensure suitability. In the event a combination is unsuitable, every effort will be made to find that competitor a suitable mount. RRP MASTER CLASS AT USPC FESTIVAL 2021
PRESENTED BY SSG RIDING GLOVES Thoroughbreds have incredible potential as sport horses after racing, but getting started with a new off-track prospect can be a challenge. The RRP Master Class was conceived to give spectators a comprehensive look at what to consider when evaluating prospects and how to approach those early rides off the track. The Format Recently retired racehorses from reputable aftercare organizations will be presented to our clinicians for evaluation. Trainers will then be paired randomly with the horses and break out to work independently showcasing their approach to the first ride on a retired racehorse while our
commentators offer their expert insights into what they’re seeing and their own approaches. After the training sessions are complete, trainers will provide additional insight into what their impressions were of their horses and what the next few months would look like for the horse in their training program. The clinic concludes with questions from the audience.

FESTIVAL EDUCATION An essential part of USPC Festival is the education component. Mounted Clinics and Unmounted Workshops are offered to all Pony Club members and all equine enthusiasts, after the Championships have concluded. Mounted clinics include Cross-Country, Distance Riding, Western Dressage, Polocrosse, Show Jumping, Hunter Seat Equitation, Dressage, Games, and Ground Work. Unmounted workshops include the Masters Clinic series where professionals will demonstrate their sport, in addition to a plethora of equine related topics. Additionally, members can participate in a Mock Foxhunt, D-camp, and apply to ride in the Lendon Gray’s Dressage4Kids Program.
D CAMP ENTRY FEE INCLUDES: Five Mounted lessons, unmounted instruction, Masters Clinics, Festival t-shirt, souvenir program, stabling and shared tack and feed rooms. All mounted participants, this is NOT a ‘moving up’ situation and you will benefit most from riding at the level that matches your skills. For example, the Show Jumping clinic is broken down by different fence heights. If you are currently jumping 2’9” in lessons, DO NOT sign up for the 3’-3’3” division, sign up for the 2’6”-3” division. If you over-estimate the ability of your horse or yourself, you may not be able to participate as fully as the rest of your riding group. Mounted Clinic groups will be as small as possible to afford the greatest concentration on individual skills. This will give the clinicians a chance to give participants the best possible experience. MOUNTED CLINIC OPTIONS
Cross Country: Your chance to ride with many advanced level competitors, these clinics will give you the opportunity to school the wide variety of fences at the Kentucky Horse Park, and work on pace, terrain and the techniques necessary to compete in horse trials and 3-day events. This is NOT a ‘moving up’ situation and you will benefit most from riding at the level that matches your skills. Clinicians will be listed on the website. • Intro to Cross-Country-jump up to height of (2’3”) • Beginner Novice (2’7”) • Novice (2’11”) • Training (3’3”) • Preliminary (3’7”) • Ride with a National Examiner Distance Riding: Learn how to be successful in Distance Riding. This will be a fun, comfortable, entry-level trail ride over the easy terrain of the Kentucky Horse Park. This will be a half-day block and each session will include instruction. You will be walked through the procedures used in Distance Riding ranging from pace to conditioning tips and TPR skills. The pace is based on a steady trot, is approximately 7-10 miles in length and ride time will be a 2-hour maximum. No extensive preconditioning is required, and you should be riding your horse a minimum of 5 days a week for about 1 hour (similar to conditioning for other disciplines). Bring 2 buckets and a sponge labeled with your name for the half-way point. Dressage: The goal of the Dressage clinics is to develop your riding skills and improve your knowledge of the components necessary to successfully ride dressage tests. Lessons will be either semi-private (2 riders) or private lessons. Clinicians will be listed on the website.

Ground Work and Horsemanship: Learn to apply natural horsemanship principles when handling and riding your mount. A natural horsemanship clinician will work with you and your horse in groups of 4-6. The KHP Mounted Police will teach these sessions and they are “the best clinic” of the entire weekend! Hunter Seat Equitation: For those pursuing the Pony Club Hunter Seat Equitation (HSE) track or IEA HSEq. These clinics will focus on how to maintain the correct HSE position and be effective throughout your course work. A great opportunity to better understand the Pony Club HSE track and how it could lead to the Pony Club Show Jumping track. • 2’3” to 2’6” • 3’ to 3’3” • 2’6” to 3’ • 3’3” to 3’6” Polocrosse: Have you been reading about how much fun Polocrosse is? Here is your chance to try this exciting sport. Western Dressage: Western Dressage is a growing discipline across the country. Do you wonder if your horse can do this, what type of tack, how they train, and what they are looking for when riding a test? Come ride with a current Western Dressage instructor that will help you get started in this discipline. Western tack is preferred, but not required for participation in this clinic. Early Morning Mock Foxhunt: Ride with members of a local Kentucky Hunt Club over the terrain of the KHP at the early morning (6:30 a.m.) Mock Foxhunt on Monday, July 26. You must be able to safely ride your mount out in the open in a large group. Be sure to select the early morning foxhunt on your electronic entry, if you wish to participate (does not count as one of your mounted clinics), and remember that space is limited, so sign up early. Formal hunt attire preferred, but not required. Please carefully assess whether your mount is suitable to ride in a large group.
ADDITIONAL MOUNTED OPPORTUNITIES D Camp D Camp runs during Festival Education, and is designed for the Pony Club youth member who is unrated up to the D-2 certification level and is NOT qualified for Championships. Attendees must be at least 6 years old up to 12. Participants ride twice a day and get to experience group instruction taught by mostly graduate A’s and other wonderful instructors. Basic riding skills will be taught using a variety of methods such as playing games on horseback, learning how to ride in the open safely in a group, and working towards their next certification. Besides riding, campers will have unmounted instruction in the barn and a chance to experience taking care of their mount while at the Kentucky Horse Park. Games: Whether you are an experienced player or just want to give Games a try, we guarantee you will enjoy this clinic. Clinician will share coaching secrets to make even the trickiest games look easy. Horses and ponies welcome. Beginner and experienced players are all welcome. This is also a great opportunity for DC’s, CA’s and parents to get some ideas for developing a games program in their club or center. NEW- There will be one session which will focus on Gymkhana, (done in either an English or Western saddle) come try it out!

Dressage4Kids Dressage4kids, Inc. is very proud to offer the Dressage4Kids’ TEAM Program for dedicated, determined young dressage riders of all levels, ages 25 and under. The goal of the program is to find, to help to educate, and to be part of the development of talented youth to become the international riders, teachers, and trainers of the future. This opportunity is open to Pony Club youth members and non-Pony Club youth members who want to participate in this unique program during Festival Education, July 25 and 26, 2021.Information regarding the D4K TEAM Program can be found at dressage4kids.org, along with the application (limited to 10 participants). Festival Education Entry Process Registration opens May 3 at 8:00 a.m. EDT, and closes at noon EDT on July 5, 2021. Detailed directions about registration in addition to the registration link is available on the Festival Education page of the USPC website. Registrations are completed individually and clinic assignments are on a first come, first serve basis. Clinic assignments will be made AFTER the closing of registration. Clinicians will be assigned at random. (Additions/substitutions of clinicians may occur). Any request for on-site schedule changes will cost $25.00 and MUST be into the show office by 1:00 p.m. the day before the scheduled clinic. Payment must be made at the time of entry by Credit Card or Electronic Check online. After registering online all mounted participants MUST MAIL the following to the National Office: • A copy of the confirmation email that you received after submitting your registration online. • $50 stall deposit check for each mount
All paperwork must be sent to the USPC National Office and postmarked by the closing date of July 5, 2021. Late entries will be accepted on a spaceavailable basis, will be subject to a $50 late fee, and may have limited clinic options available.
HORSE MANAGEMENT EXPECTATIONS DURING EDUCATION EDUCATION HORSE MANAGEMENT: There will be no Horse Management judging during the Educational Programs at Festival. In keeping with USPC policy of monitoring the safety and well-being of all participants and their mounts, there will be a Horse Management presence during the Educational Program. It is recognized that Festival Education is a time to learn and have fun. Barns will be open to anyone who is appropriately dressed, (please see the
Everyone needs to follow the horse care practices outlined by the following: • The Standards of Proficiency at their certification level • Current Horse Management Handbook and HM Newsletter • Current USPC Manual of Horsemanship D and C Manuals • Direction of any Festival Staff If basic horse care is not followed, the Horse Management (or Festival staff ) will work with the involved individual to ensure that they understand the expectations (an instructional opportunity). If after an initial individual instructional session, the problem should continue the attendee will forfeit his/her lessons until these issues are resolved. The parent or responsible adult will be informed of the problem and steps that have been taken to that point. If the disregard for basic care continues it will result in the attendee being excused from Festival due to neglect. Health, safety, and well-being of both the participant and horse are of utmost importance to all and Horse Management guidelines will be followed by all participants while on the Kentucky Horse Park property. EDUCATION BARN HOURS: Barns will open at 6 a.m. and all mounts MUST be fed by 6:15 a.m. to keep all horses in the barn on the same schedule. This morning time will also be the time to muck out stalls, and set the horse up with hay and water for the morning. This schedule leaves time for Education participants to tack up and go to their mounted sessions. Layover horses staying on the property will be subject to the same rules as Education participants. EDUCATION SAFETY CHECKS: There will not be specified safety checks prior to mounted clinics. Each participant is responsible for tacking up and getting to the clinic on time. Parents are welcome in the barn areas to help (please wear appropriate shoes). Clinicians will check riders for correct tack and that girth and helmet are snug.
