DOUBLE WINNERS! EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: STANLEY TYLER AND KEN NAZOR Congratulations to Stanley Tyler, electrician and Ken Nazor, architect on being selected as our January and February 2018 winners (pictured above along with Executive Vice Chancellor Dr. Kennard Brown, Emile J. David, associate vice chancellor, and Kenneth Bradshaw, director of facilities).

Stanley Tyler is one you can count on when things are tough. On a Sunday morning in February, Dan Hutchinson, superintendent, electrical and plumbing received a call about a power outage in the TSRB animal area. Dan could not get anyone during “Sunday church hours” except Stanley. Stanley, without hesitation, said “no problem,” and came to the campus to take care of the problem. Within a three week time frame this type situation occurred again, and Stanley had the same response, “no problem.” Stanley, thank you for going above and beyond!

Ken Nazor recently went above and beyond when finding a credit card here on campus. Ken took the credit card, looked up the persons name on the UT website and discovered that it belonged to a UT employee. He went to the employees building and returned the card, for which the employee was very thankful. Ken, your act of kindness helped to avoid what could have been a possible stressful situation for one of our very own employees.

CAMPUS PROJECTS, EMPLOYEES AND EVENTS CUSTODIAL DEPARTMENT SPOTLIGHT Edwin Jeffres, Custodial Superintendent

The custodial staff is doing an awesome job on campus and make our spotlight for many reasons. Take a look below.

Ursela Howell’s Dunn dental floor crew (pictured below) make sure to keep the floors clean and shiny in Oral Surgery at a moments notice. Great job Maurice Ware, Carlton Rutherford and Coe Bass!

PAULINE BUILDING (DOCTOR’S OFFICE BUILDING, 5TH FLOOR) Laura Mooney, Project Manager

The Pauline building (Doctors Office Building), fifth floor has a refreshing new look! All three spaces included dark cabinets and counter tops prior to renovation. A much lighter coat of paint is now in the conference room, lab room and meeting area. The dark counter tops were replaced with new laminate ones and the difference is dramatic. Facilities carpenters, painters, electricians and plumbers all worked on the project. Below is a before picture (top left) and after several pictures after renovation.

The goal for the night crew employees was to arrive on time everyday and no call-ins within a given week. They accomplished their goal and were rewarded with a potluck to show appreciation for their dedication and hard work.

MARVIN BEASLEY RETIRES FEB. 28 Facilities Retirement News The following employees have received recognition via email from all over campus. Job well done team members!

Derek Hall, Sr. Custodian - Derek is in the spotlight for taking good care of his assigned offices, being a hard worker and making sure everything around him is spotless.

Ola Anderson, Asst. Foreman - Ola is in the spotlight for taking pride in her job, treating others well and always making sure employees in the Dept. of Neurology have everything they need on a daily basis.

Marilyn Bailey, Sr. Custodian - Marilyn is in the spotlight for doing an outstanding job at the Boling Center. Offices are cleaner than they’ve been before and makes sure that the floors and tables in the children’s testing rooms are clean, sanitized and vacuumed. She is a pleasure to work with.

Marvin Beasley Jr. retired on February 28th, after 30 years of service and dedication to UTHSC. He worked as a tuckpoint supervisor, but also held other jobs in facilities over his 30 year tenure. Congratulations and enjoy retirement, Marty!

MADISON PLAZA FLOORING PROJECT Kari Conrad and Ray West, Project Managers

Construction progress for the Madison Plaza flooring project is moving along. Phase one, two and three of the Madison Plaza flooring are all complete. It has a fresh, new look and the tile flooring looks great. Project next steps include renovating the 910 Madison Lobby, 930 Madison Lobby and Concourse Level floors. Renovation progress will continue through completion and we can’t wait to see the finished product. Great job team!

INFORMATION SECURITY TIP OF THE WEEK – SCAMS, SCAMS, SCAMS AND MORE SCAMS! Information Security Coordinator | Information Technology Services

ITS wants to reminder us that there are always numerous scams in which criminals are trying to social engineer you out of money or your personal information. They use whatever scheme that works.

Some examples are calls and texts from the IRS stating you owe taxes, calls to ask for a donation to help fund the Olympic team on their quest for gold. In the news recently, was the “Love Scam,” whereby people get messages that someone has compromising pictures of them and will make the situation go away for just a little fee.

To keep track of the latest online scams please visit: https://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/ categories/phishing-scamming-fraud-identity-theft. If something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

KEY AND LOCK CONTROL MANAGEMENT Key and lock control management is under Facilities Administration. If you need to turn in, transfer, have new keys issued, or have locksmithing needs do the following: 1) Complete a request form found on the facilities website under the key control tab (https://www.uthsc.edu/ facilities/key-control.php).

2) Attach the form to an Archibus work order request (link found at the bottom of each page of Facilities website).

We are located in the Physical Plant Building (room 224). Office hours are 7:45 am – 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday. For further assistance, please call 901.448.6837.

OUR MISSION The Facilities Services Department is responsible for the basic operation and continuous maintenance of the physical properties of The University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

FACILITIES WORK RULES TRAINING Monthly Departmental Training, February 2018

Thank you to our facilities management team for conducting our work rules trainings. Training covered department guidelines, annual and sick leave, uniforms, motor vehicle and the safety policy. Trainings were held on February 26, 27, and 28 to accommodate our large organization.

As a team, we want to be sure all employees are properly informed of the departmental work rules that apply to both supervisors and employees.

Employees are our first concern and we make it a point to have training to discuss work rules and policy changes that should be adhered to each day.

Employees were also made aware of all other UT policies and procedures found by logging into the UTHSC’s new policy management system: https://uthsc.policymedical.net/
