EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH: DESHANNA CANNON Congratulations to Deshanna Cannon, Purchasing and HR Coordinator on being selected as Facilities Employee of the Month! Her dedication to the facilities organization has been recognized, leading to a nomination and selection as our September 2018 winner. Deshanna has been in the department less than a year and has taken on additional duties that now include setting up interviews for all open positions within facilities. The department currently has between twenty and thirty open positions and she now has the task of scheduling interviews for every position, which was an HR responsibility previously. She also took the lead role for Kronos and assists craft supervisors with issues that arise with employee time cards. She initiated contract meetings with procurement to make sure we stay on top of all things related to contracts processing. In addition to her normal job duties, she goes above and beyond in any task assigned, has a great attitude and a willingness to assist in any way she can. Deshanna’s role within the facilities business office is one that helps to keep the business office running smoothly. Thank you Deshanna, for doing your very best each day.

Hamilton Eye Auditorium Jacque Bradford, PT, DPT, EdD, MS, emailed a housekeeping compliment for employees Shirley Sullivan and Nawella Nyaban. She wrote: “They worked on a weekend in August during our event in the Hamilton Eye Auditorium. The attendees spoke very highly of their experience here at UTHSC. I feel we owe a large portion of the event success to Shirley and Nawella, as the housekeeping was consistently above expectations in both the auditorium, lobby and restrooms. Thank you for taking such great care of us.”

SAC WEIGHT ROOM

Laura Mooney, Project Manager The SAC weight room project is complete. The project included removing the concrete masonry unit wall between the weight room and studio, removing the wood ceiling in the studio, glass doors and turning the studio in to an expanded weight room. Renovation also included a new acoustical ceiling, new Mondo sports flooring throughout the entire space, a fresh coat of paint and the creation of a solution for hiding all the electrical and data for the powered equipment. Wood boxes with hinged lids and outlets on the side were added as well. Lastly, a wall was taken out to open the view to exterior windows that create an awesome new look and feel. It’s a completely different space! Take a look at the pictures below (top row is progress after completion; bottom row is before and during renovation). Great job to our facilities teams that worked diligently on this project: carpenters, painters, electricians, movers, and tuck pointers as well as the UTHSC IT/data department.
