5-7 JULY 2024
A DEMANDING TRAIL-RUN IN THE HIGH MOUNTAIN’S DOORWAY.
Elder of the Swiss ultra trails, linking 3 valleys, numerous paths, glaciers and a sub 10’000 ft summit, Trail Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB routes are designed to both seduce and challenge you.
Ever heard of Grand Combin? If not, we can guarantee you won’t leave Verbier without noticing it, whatever your race. Or else, it means that you really raced head down, which might be efficient, but not adequate on such great trails! With its Buddha-like posture, it seems to watch over the valley and Verbier the intrepid which faces it. It’ll take care of you the whole race, then give it due respect when you’ll pass by its feet, on the Panossière suspension bridge.
Approximately 400 passionate volunteers will be by your side, ready to support you, encourage you, and share with you every moment of joy, doubt, and self-transcendence. These unsung heroes are the soul of our event, ensuring that your journey is unforgettable. Don’t forget to offer them your biggest smile and gratitude, because without them, this adventure would not be possible.
Enjoy every moment of your race. You will undoubtedly experience moments of intense joy and others more challenging, but regardless of the outcome of your goals, be proud of yourself for daring to challenge yourself! The important thing is to have been there, to have faced the mountains, and to have pushed your limits.
Good race to all!

OUR COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT LOCAL ASSOCIATIONS
Since the beginning, the TVSB has always fostered the spirit of solidarity. Mutual aid and helping others are the key to mountain culture, and we hold dear to this alpine spirit. We are driven by this desire to help everyone win their own victories: overcoming difficult moments, fighting against illness, integrating elderly people to the community.
SPORT HANDICAP MARTIGNY, FOR DISABLED PEOPLE AND FOR SPORT
Sport handicap’s mission is to promote sport for physically of mentally disabled people. They collaborate with parents, institutions and specialized institutions, organizing weekly lessons as well as weekends, alpine ski, cross country skiing or hiking camps. They also organize sport competitions for disabled people.

THE ENTREMONT SPORT AND MOVEMENT GROUP (60+) IS AT THE SERVICE OF SENIORS
The aim of the association, which is based in Val de Bagnes, is to bring together adults from the district, to promote contacts, to organize sports outings and to participate in various events.
It actively supports the Trail Verbier Saint-Bernard by UTMB® with numerous volunteers at the various feeding stations. Supporting the association means actively fighting against the social isolation of our elderly.

ENVIRONNEMENT
It’s not too much to say that Trail Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB is lucky to take place in incredible surroundings, where amazing populations are living! Thus, we were always strongly committed to preserving it.
Here are some concrete actions taken those last years:
• About 55% of food and 70% of drink served on the aid stations come from Switzerland.
• 39% of the food is organic.
• A large part of the drinks is made directly on the spot.
• To limit the waist impact, reusable dishes is used on the whole event.
• Every runner takes its own dishes to eat and drink on the aid stations.
• A complete recycling program is organised on every aid station.
• An improved bus service for runners and supporters.
• A lowering of the noise impact in the villages by limiting the musical interventions.
THE TRAIL PARTICIPATES IN THE PLANTATION OF AN AROLLA PINE FOREST
The similarities in character between the Arolla Pine trees and the trail runners struck the organisation committee, who decided to promote its developpement in the area. This is how the Verbier St-Bernard Trail Arolla Forest was born in 2016, which you can find at the entrance to La Fouly.
Each year, the organisation along with dedicated volunteers get together for a treeplanting day, and to date more than 100 Arolla pines have been planted!
TRAIL VERBIER ST-BERNARD ASSOCIATION IS ENGAGED IN DOING THE MOST TO:
• Take care of the trails and keep them clean.
• Limit the amount of produced waist.
• Promote the use of public transport.
• Minimize the impact on local villages and nature.
ORIENTATION IN VERBIER AND CHÂBLE
The heart of the event is located in the international sport resort of Verbier, where the Ultra-trail® Village expo will be as well as the starts of X-Alpine, Verbier X-Plore and Trail Decouverte. Verbier will also welcome the finish line for of all the races.
VERBIER
Le Châble, located in the valley below Verbier, is the place where bibs are collected on Friday.
This is also where many buses for runners and their companions depart.

SAFETY
ENVIRONMENT & WEATHER
LThe Trail Verbier St-Bernard by UTMB races are all races which take place in open country, in mountainous terrain, with some remote areas and weather conditions which can change very fast even in early July (snow, hail, fog, heat (>30°) or intense cold (<-10°), violent wind).
Advice along the route: Do not stop at high points. If you lose sight of the way-markers: turn round and go back to the previous marker. Stay on the paths.
EQUIPMENT
Some common sense reminders for facing difficult weather conditions:
Anticipate the cold as well as extreme heat. Don’t wait to shiver before covering yourself up. Don’t change in full wind: anticipate or wait to be sheltered. Protect yourself against the sun.
Walking poles: Watch what you do with your poles particularly when there are lots of runners around. Do not wear the wrist straps on the descents: in case of a rough fall wrist-straps prevent the suitable use of the hands. If you choose to take them, you must take them for the whole race.
EATING & DRINKING
Hydration and the consumption of energising snacks must be adapted to the meteorological conditions and enriched in salt throughout the effort. Keep a good balance between slow and rapid release sugars.
FATIGUE & VIGILANCE
Rest areas are available at aid stations for a few moments sleep. It is dangerous to stop to sleep alone in open country. Fatigue and the lack of vigilance can be the cause of an accident. Run within your limits (especially on the first half) keeping your energy for later to surmount difficult situations which may arise such as a sudden change of weather conditions.
OBLIGATORYINDIVIDUAL INSURANCE
We would like to remind you that it is mandatory to be in possession of individual accident insurance which covers any eventual costs for search and rescue in Switzerland. Such an insurance policy may be taken out with the organization of your choice. Since 2022, UTMB offers its own insurance, find out more here: https://utmb.assurinco.com/
LIVETRAIL
The app is an interface reference for your security, while at the same time giving you precious information about the race (follow your race and that of your friends in real time). In the case of SOS, this app can send, via text message, your GPS position to the organization. This represents a precious time gain in getting help to you. However, it will not be a substitute for phoning the race HQ (PC Course). A mobile phone is mandatory with the international optional activated throughout the duration of the race, with the battery in working order. In no circumstances put your phone in airplane mode because we need to be able to contact you before, during and after
the event. Smartphones are highly recommended for using the LiveRun by LiveTrail® app which is indispensable for your safety. For runners who are going to be running for more than 15 hours, an external battery is strongly recommended.
Check that the number that you have given us as an emergency contact number is that of the person who you wish to be contacted in the case of a problem. Very important: In order to improve any medical intervention verify that you have submitted, on your runners’ page, the telephone number that you will be using during the race. You can update it until the start of your race.
