SCARBOROUGH 2023-24 VIEWBOOK
We wish to acknowledge this land on which the University of Toronto operates. For thousands of years it has been the traditional land of the Huron-Wendat, the Seneca, and the Mississaugas of the Credit. Today, this meeting place is still the home to many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island and we are grateful to have the opportunity to work on this land.

I loved my Residence Advisors (RAs) during my first year at U of T Scarborough and they made this campus feel like home. Naturally, I decided to follow in their footsteps and become an RA myself, where I got to be part of a community of diverse cultures and personalities. I was able to hear so many fascinating stories and meet wonderful people that I am happy to call my friends. After working as an RA and living on campus for most of my undergraduate career, U of T Scarborough has truly become home to me. I’m glad I was able to make it home to so many other students as well.

U of T Scarborough’s commitment to creating inclusive and welcoming spaces for all learners will continue with the construction of Indigenous House. This new gathering space will be dedicated to learning about Indigenous culture and ways of knowing. It will honour the lands, cultures, traditions, and knowledge systems of the peoples on whose traditional territory our campus is located. It will also help foster partnership and reconciliation with Indigenous communities based on sovereignty, reciprocity, mutual trust, understanding, and respect.
Being a student doesn’t just mean finding a community on campus—you will be part of the Scarborough community, the most diverse neighbourhood in Canada’s most diverse city. Our students are active participants in the Scarborough community. You can join one of over 100 weekly community outreach opportunities at eight sites in Scarborough. One of the campus’s foundational outreach opportunities is the Imani Black Academic Mentorship program. The best part of being in Management is definitely the community culture. Since the program offers specialization and everyone is taking the same classes, there is a strong sense of the collective experience of a Management student. Additionally, being in Management has refined my leadership skills. We have access to opportunities that instill the core competencies that we need to be successful in the business world. Being a part of clubs has really enhanced my campus experience. I've been able to meet new students and make friends. As an international student, I was scared that I'd feel isolated in a new country, but being in clubs made it easier to put myself out there and connect with people.
