COUNTRY OF ORIGIN Netherlands
When I started with the Master´s programme in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a specialization of the Business Administration Master´s programme, I had already finished a Master´s programme in Applied Physics. I chose Business Administration because I was interested in an internship for my final thesis. I wanted to do an internship at a company, to see how business trials work. Currently I am doing my internship at the Pentair Enschede, where I am working with the director of global sales. It requires considerable planning to combine my sports with a Master’s programme. I am an equestrian performing on the highest level in the sport. Aside from the support of the people around me, there is an arrangement for elite athletes within the UT, which I have used several times. The knowledge I have acquired during my Master´s programme in Business Administration, I use in my work as an elite athlete. During the programme we learn about the dynamics of strategy, this compares to equestrian sports, you are constantly making plans. It is useful to

learn when you should apply specific techniques to make plans. Vice versa, my sport protects me from the idea that theoretical knowledge is the only answer. You can know how something works in theory, but if you do something else in practice you will not reach the expected result. This entrepreneurial attitude is found throughout the whole university. In the future I would like to combine my sports with work. However, this will limit my career options in business, so I do not yet know what I want to become exactly.
