programme Complex, innovative and multidisciplinary projects in a dynamic environment require a new breed of engineers who are able to expertly combine engineering knowledge with management skills.

The construction industry is changing rapidly. New techniques, shifting roles, complicated logistics and globalization are having a major impact on the nature of construction projects. Complex, innovative and multidisciplinary projects in a dynamic environment call for a new breed of engineers who are able to expertly combine engineering knowledge with management skills. The Master’s programme in Construction Management and Engineering (CME) can train you to be just such an engineer. A hands-on expert who is able to combine the technical aspects of civil engineering projects with the non-technical. The 3TU Master’s programme in CME combines individual technical approaches to processes in which governance issues, societal trends and management methodologies are integrated using cutting edge technology. Key areas of study in the University of Twente’s CME programme include sustainable building, public-private governance, industrialization in engineering and construction, supply chain and IT, and risk management. The broad programme has been developed in close association with the construction industry and is process- and design-oriented as well as project-based. This programme has no specializations.

3TU The three leading universities of technology in the Netherlands - the University of Twente, Delft University of Technology and Eindhoven University of Technology - have joined forces in the 3TU.Federation. This federation maximizes innovation by combining and concentrating the strengths of all three universities in research, education and knowledge transfer. Together they offer five Master’s programmes including Construction Management and Engineering. The core programmes of the 3TU Master’s programmes are largely identical and can be taken at any of the three locations. You will benefit from the special strengths of the three universities by choosing a specialization at any of the three locations. You will be registered at the location of your choice, but you will automatically be co-registered at the other two locations to ensure access to the facilities of all three.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN China

This Master’s covers many different areas and focuses on the management side of construction, approaching problems in the construction industry from a management perspective. During my Bachelor’s studies, I took a wide range of courses but never really focused on a specific topic. This Master’s has enabled me to study the construction management aspect in greater depth and to focus on the soft side of construction. If you agree that many of today’s problems in the construction industry can be addressed by better planning and better management, I think the Construction Management and Engineering programme at the University Twente would be a good choice. The lecturers and professors are always willing to assist and facilitate you, whatever field you want to specialize in. Studying in the Netherlands is a wonderful experience. It has benefitted me in many different ways. Academically, teaching in the Netherlands is very interactive and students are encouraged to communicate directly with their professors. I have also had the chance to meet a lot of other international students whose diverse backgrounds have enriched my own experiences. Last but not least, we have a beautiful campus, complete with forests and farms, something most universities in the Netherlands don’t have. It’s also

pleasant to live on campus because of the various student activities organized by ESN and student clubs. The quiet environment makes it a nice place to study and there are plenty of study facilities that everyone can make use of. In general, I would say it is a campus with something for everyone.
