WHAT’S HAPPENING? The DesignLab is a center for expertise for multidisciplinary projects and creativity with flexible open spaces for Design education.

DESIGN EDUCATION IDEATE provides an ideal brainstorm setting. In this area there is space to explore and analyse the context and problem. Be inspired by lectures and scientific research Gather new insight to come up with new ideas. The Designlab stimulates people to participate with projects and to interact with others. The DesignLab also has two interactive classrooms: the CLASSROOM OF THE FUTURE and INFORM.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS In CONCEPTUALISE you can translate your ideas into concepts. Prototypes can be made in the mechanic mWORKSHOP and electronic eWORKSHOP. The mWORKSHOP provides all kinds of hand and power tools and is meant for physical processing methods, such as drilling, sanding, sawing, etc. Students can use the materials which are present, or bring their own if they like. The eWORKSHOP provides all the electronic equipment and rapid prototyping machines like soldering irons, 3D printers and a huge laser cutter. By protoyping the concepts can be tested, evaluated and improved where necessary.

The DesignLab provides a home to a multitude of multidisciplinary projects. Not only interactive projects that take place in ROBOLAB, PLAYGROUND and INTERACT & EMPATHISE, but also project spaces for multidsciplinary projects that have a need for a creative environment much like our PHILOSOPHYLAB, INVITE, CONNECT, SHARE and MEET.

BE A PART OF DESIGNLAB Everyone who is working for or together with the University of Twente in Research or Education is welcome in the DesignLab. Come sit and work in our IDEATE and CONCEPTUALISE space. The only condition is when you are sitting in the DesignLab, it means that you are open to discussion. Building projects and sharing them with others is what we want at the DesignLab. Join us in talking with organizations about the problems they are facing in society. Come give tips to students and fellow researchers in your area of expertise so they can think out of the box.
