ZILVERLING The Zilverling is the building where most of the EEMCS facilities and related associations/ organizations are located. The Zilverling is building number 11 and is located at the O&O square. The place where Starbucks is located is referred to as “Educafé”.

STUDY ASSOCIATIONS It is useful to become a member of a study association. This way you can participate in varied educational and fun activities and you get to know your fellow students. The study associations offer you various advantages, like discounts on your study books. Furthermore, it is the place to relax between lectures with a free cup of coffee or tea and to chat with friends!

STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS STORES scintilla.utwente.nl/nl/stores Room E103, EducafĂŠ, Zilverling The STORES is a small electronics shop entirely run by Electrical Engineering students located at the University of Twente. Their goal is to offer cheap electronics and study needs. The STORES is open every weekday 12:30 - 13:30.
IAPC iapc.utwente.nl Room E105, EducafĂŠ, Zilverling IAPC (or Stichting Inter-Actief Personal Computing) is a student organisation that runs a store on the campus. They provide students and employees of the University of Twente with ICT-related information and advice. Furthermore, they sell computer parts, complete desktop systems and study materials to students of the University of Twente. IAPC is open every weekday 12.30 - 13.30.

The UT Campus offers many facilities apart from education and research: - Coop supermarket, ATM, hairdresser, PostNL Service point (in the Coop supermarket) and other shops next to the Bastille. - Cafes, restaurants and canteens (Waaier, Ravelijn, Spiegel, Horst, Vrijhof, Bastille, Sports Centre and more). - Sports Centre: the UT’s Sports Centre offers sports and sports facilities to students with an Union Card utwente.nl/en/sport. - Culture on campus, there are many cultural events in the Vrijhof building utwente.nl/en/culture. - Religion on campus: there is a prayer/meditation room, UT mosque and student pastoral care located in the Vrijhof building. The Student Chaplaincy (Studenten Pastoraat Enschede; SPE) organizes activities related to religion, science and culture. - Bike and car rental through the GoAbout app, available for Android and iOS. - Practice studios: whether you play the drums, piano, saxophone, trumpet or any other instrument, you are very welcome to rehearse in one of the music studios in the Vrijhof building! THE BUDDY PROGRAM | STUDENT UNION Become a Buddy and introduce international students to the Dutch student life, or find a Buddy to help you with this! The Buddy Program is an initiative of the Student Union that aims to make arriving international students feel at home in the Netherlands, but most of all at the University of Twente. Upon the start of each semester, an experienced student, the so-called “Buddy�, is matched to one or more arriving international students based on hobbies and other personal preferences. buddy.utwente.nl
STUDENT ASSOCIATIONS UT has a vibrant student community: there are over 100 associations you can join as a member. It is a great way to meet people and create social contacts. There are different kinds of associations: - - - - -

Study associations, a great way to meet people from your study and create social contacts. Sport associations, maybe you would like to continue playing the sport you played before you went to university or you might be curious about a new one. Performing arts associations, would you describe yourself as a real performing arts freak or a comedian? Then the performing arts associations are a perfect fit for you! Social associations, the social associations are perfect if you like to party. Here, you will make friends for life in the yearclub that you will form yourself or the dispuut (sorority) that you become a member of. World associations, at the University of Twente you will encounter many different cultures because of the high number of international students. If you want to get to know these cultures even better and make friends from all over the world, there are a number of world associations that each represent a country or foreign culture. Business associations, in order to be well prepared for your start in the labour market, there are several student organisations that want to help you. Other associations, e.g. associations and foundations that build the most innovative solar car or hydrogen car. But you can also think of the student scouting club or the political youth organisation.

STUDENTS’ CHARTER The Students’ Charter governs your rights as a student and the way we treat each other at the UT. It states exactly what you may expect of the UT and what we expect of you. It gives an overview of your rights and obligations and of the academic provisions. The charter consists of two parts: the institutional section and the programme section. The institutional section Applies to all students, irrespective of the programme. This section is determined annually. utwente.nl/en/ces/sacc/regulations/charter The programme section Is different per programme and can be found in the Teaching and Examination Regulations (TER). See the website of your educational programme.
INTERNATIONAL CLASSROOM AT THE UT All EEMCS programmes are English taught. We strive for an international classroom experience: - Be aware that cultural differences may occur. - Try to be welcoming and understanding towards students from different cultural backgrounds. - Always speak English – only a few students in our MSc programmes are native English speakers so don’t be shy when speaking English. USEFUL ONLINE SYSTEMS & APPLICATIONS Canvas | Information about courses canvas.utwente.nl Canvas is our Learning Management System at the University of Twente. You use Canvas to access course content, submit assignments, exchange ideas with classmates, and communicate with your teachers.

MyTimetable | Time and places of educational activities rooster.utwente.nl MyTimetable is the application used at the University of Twente for the creation of personal timetables. In MyTimetable you can view, download and connect your timetable to calendar applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or a calendar app on your smartphone. Want to know how to create your personal timetables and how to connect MyTimetable to your smartphone? Go to rooster.utwente.nl/help. Osiris | Registration for courses osiris.utwente.nl/student Osiris is used for the registration of courses, tests and minors, tracking your study progression and consulting the course offerings. WebRoomBooking (WRB) | Book a study/meeting room online wrb.utwente.nl WRB is the application available for booking a project room. These rooms are located in various buildings (Bastille, Horsttoren, Ravelijn, Spiegel and Vrijhof). How to book a room? 1. Select the number of participants, a building and the type of room. 2. Choose a date and time. 3. Select and book one of the available rooms. Done! Don’t get lost @UT | Download the MazeMap app! The indoor MazeMap guides you to almost any place on campus: lecture rooms, meeting rooms and service desks, as well as toilets and bus stops. Google Play store for Android: Mazemap.
