Hello, UW Alumni and Friends! Traveling with fellow Huskies is a unique experience that our travelers embrace. It’s a common bond we share before our bags are even packed, and once we’re off and exploring it’s what sets our travel program apart from other packages. The University of Washington is a wonderful place, and when I work with alumni I constantly hear how special it is to share that connection with other travelers. In 2011, we have some amazing new trips planned. Choose from two exciting African safaris. Enjoy a land/cruise program that visits areas of France we’ve never traveled to before. Experience the beauty of Guatemala, where we haven’t taken groups to in years. Please contact me if you have any questions, and be sure and visit us online at www.UWalum.com/tours. We have plenty of travel resources online, and our blog is full of useful travel tips and important announcements that’ll bring you even closer to the UW Alumni Tours community. Enjoy your summer, and come see us soon at UW Alumni Tours! Best,

Pauline Ranieri Director, UW Alumni Tours

Program Information Our goal is to provide the UW community with incredible opportunities for lifelong learning.

Who can travel with UW Alumni Tours? Every tour is open to UW alumni, their families, and friends of the University. You do not have to be a UW graduate or even have attended the UW to participate in our tours. But the travel program is a benefit of UWAA membership, so it is required that one person per reservation be a member of the UW Alumni Association.

How active are the tours? Travelers must be in good mental and physical health and be able to keep up with the pace of the group. Participants who require special assistance must be accompanied by someone who can and will provide it. To assist you in choosing the tour that’s right for you, each is rated by the following categories:

New sights, new ideas, new perspectives We like the balance of information and experience. The chance to visit people’s homes and meet locals, walk through the shopping areas and experience the real Israeli life, it all gave us a deep sense of the culture and appreciation for the people. It was a rewarding adventure.

Mildly Active: Easy pace, little walking and stair climbing. Moderately Active: Faster pace. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and walk 3-5 miles a day over uneven surfaces and climb many stairs. Active: Suitable for participants who are extremely mobile and used to a very active lifestyle. May include up to six hours of strenuous activity per day.

Do I need a roommate? A limited number of single spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited availability, we encourage single travelers to sign up early. Program details and costs are based on information available on May 1, 2010. They are also based on double occupancy. Please note: dates and prices are subject to change.

Ease of Travel

All the best without the stress

Every time we travel, the planning just stresses us out. Dinner reservations, sightseeing activities, rental cars—you name it, we’ve spent countless hours booking it. But the best thing about this program is that we don’t have to do any of that work. It’s all taken care of. Not only that, but we see all the best sites and eat at great authentic restaurants. It’s a real treat, and it’s no hassle for us.

Relaxation with a change of pace It’s nice to get away. With all the negative things going on in the world, a trip to the Dalmatian coast with great co-travelers reminded us of all the positives in life. We were very well taken care of and had an outstanding tour director. Plus, traveling with UW alumni gave us a feeling of experience and safety. We will travel with UW alumni again.
