University of the West of England Students’ Union Job Description: Education Officer Full or Part Time: Part Time Term of Office: 1 year and 1 week commencing last week in June Team: Students’ Union Executive Committee Accountable to: Student Members through Student Council, General Meetings, Student Representative Committee and referendum Purpose of the Role • To support the Vice President Education • To liaise and work with the UWESU Representation Team • Provide written report to each Student Council & Student Representative Committee General Officer Responsibility • The Executive Team is responsible for the direction of the Union in accordance with the strategic plan. • To regularly obtain feedback from students to ensure that the Students’ Union meets the need of the main stake holder, the students. • Up hold the Students’ Union Constitution, Policy and Vision and Values of the Union • Keep up to date with current student national issues • To actively encourage students to be involved with the democratic and election processes of the Students’ Union • To support activities such as AGM, Open Days, Freshers’ and official Union events • To attend the summer training programme Main responsibilities/activities of the Role • To attend various Union and University Meetings • To contribute to development of representation within UWE • To act as a representative within the local community • To lead specific projects related to the educational experiences of UWE students • To support the annual training programme of Student Reps • To support the Student Rep Department Forum Deputy Chairs with their role Finance • To help prepare budget requests, as appropriate Main Relationship and Contacts • The full time Presidents • UWESU Representation Team • Elected Student Reps Internal Committee Membership • Union Executive Committee • Student Council • Student Representative Committee (Deputy Chair) University Committee Membership • Academic Board • Other committees as appropriate
