Jamie Anderson news@westerneye.net A campaign led by UWE’s Students’ Union, has successfully forced the Centre for Sport (CFS) to reimburse students living in Bower Ashton accommodation a total of £76,000. The refund came after revelations that students living in University accommodation were not given the option to ‘optout’ of the gym membership. Continued on next page

Pole dancing professional gets pipped at the post Rebecca Day admin@westerneye.net The semi-finals of popular television dance contest, Got to Dance, saw former UWE student and pole dancing professional, Kate Czepulkowski, narrowly miss out on a place in the live finals. Czepulkowski - also known as 'Bendy Kate' - was the first ever pole-dancer to make it through to the live semi-finals of the show, which was televised on Sunday 29 January.

Judges of the Sky 1 dance programme were amazed by Bendy's audition at the 'callbacks'. Actor and tap dancing professional, Adam Garcia, labelled her routine as “captivating and exquisitely performed”, whilst Diversity member, Ashley Banjo revealed that "it was amazing - executed perfectly".
