JJ Clark, VP Education /VP.EducationUWE.1 @VPEducation VPEducation@uwe.ac.uk

YOUR EDUCATION

Hi everyone, my name is JJ and I’m your elected Vice President Education for this academic year. My role is to ensure that your voice is heard on all things relating to your academic experience and education whilst at UWE.

“Together we can build a united learning community!”

As a student at UWE, you can have your say about the education you will be receiving. Whether you think something needs to be changed on your course, or have ideas for how the university could help you study better, we’re here to listen to you. I will be working alongside Amelia (Education Officer) and we believe that together, we can build strong learning communities and help to make a difference to students’ lives. You can find me on Facebook, follow me on Twitter, and get in touch by email – I’d love to hear your views!

If you want to know more, put forward some suggestions or get in touch, then email me at vpeducation@uwe.ac.uk I would love to hear from you!

15

Amelia Campbell – Education Officer I hope to focus on issues such as reducing stress and anxiety around exam time, ensuring that students are fully aware of study areas and feel prepared.

STUDENT REPS

Student Reps are the vital link between students, the university and the Students’ Union. Every course at every level will have at least one Student Rep. They actively seek your views on your student experience and feed back to the University. Ensuring you get what you want from your course!

Ensuring students are at the heart of all academic decisions

Student Reps are elected in the first few weeks of term and anyone can put themselves forward. Your lecturers will provide more information, so listen out for the opportunity to get involved. Don’t worry if you haven’t done anything like this before as the Students’ Union provides all the support and guidance you will need. It’s a great chance to enhance your personal development and it looks great on your CV. So if the idea of representing your course appeals to you, make a difference and become a Student Rep!

Want to join us? www.uwesu.org/reps facebook.com/pages/UWE-Student-Reps studentreps@uwe.ac.uk

16

Come and chat to us at the Freshers’ Fair, find more out online or drop us an email.

HAVE YOUR SAY!

Your opinions count at UWE, so don’t hold back and have your say by getting involved in our student elections and surveys. Your Students’ Union officers are here to respond to your feedback and to put the changes you want into action! From improving bus services to reducing hidden costs, together we can make a difference! In February you will be asked to complete the UWE Student Experience Survey, a great chance for you to tell the university what you think!

Want to get involved? Officer positions available: ·· Glenside Campus Officer ·· Gloucester Campus Officer ·· Sports & Health Officer ·· Disabled Student Officer ·· Sustainability Officer

Want to know more? Email union@uwe.ac.uk or visit www.uwesu.org/elections

Set on the edge of the beautiful parkland of Ashton Court Estate, the campus is close to Hotwells, Bedminster and the city centre.

I aim to make Bower Ashton a community where everyone can integrate together being themselves, without judgement. I’ll also be working to encourage events, exhibitions and other projects.
