Every day people in the UK go hungry for reasons ranging from redundancy to receiving an unexpected bill on a low income. North Bristol Foodbank provides 3 day emergency food packs and additional support.

They are a recovery based organisation that supports people who face mental health problems, mental disability and mental distress in the local community.

£500 - NORTH BRISTOL FOODBANK

£1000 WOMANKIND BRISTOL Womankind provides women in the Bristol area with free or affordable professional counselling, psychotherapy and on-going support.

The Bearpit Improvement Group was formed to implement ideas and prospects for the Bearpit. They wish to transform the Bearpit into a space that is welcoming, safe, diverse and inclusive.

£275 - BRISTOL ASSOCIATION FOR NEIGHBOURHOOD DAYCARE Supports and develops childcare provision in and around Bristol. We provide services to childcare providers, people working with children, families and employers. For around 10,000 families.

£275 - HILLFIELDS YOUNG MOTHERS GROUP Provides a young mothers group for pregnant women and young mothers between 16-25 years. Encourages engagement in a supportive environment to engage further in learning, study or enriched activities.

£250 - HOME START BRISTOL Provides family support for struggling and disadvantaged families and early intervention for children in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

£200 - JULIAN HOUSE Offers direct support to the homeless through projects and services. Works to support those who are homeless but also helps to prevent homelessness for those facing it.

£200 - SOUTHMEAD HOSPITAL CHARITY Supports healthcare services at Southmead Hospital for services that are beyond the remit of the NHS.


CHARITY CASE STUDIES AWARDED A £1600 COMMUNITY GRANT

AWARDED A £500 COMMUNITY GRANT

This money could fund:

They intend to spend this money on some laptops/tablets for their distribution outlets so the teams there can more effectively signpost their clients to relevant organisations, such as welfare/benefits/debt advice and employment support services in the area. Their teams will also be able to help clients fill in forms to access grants to cover gas and electricity costs, and to help cover the cost of replacing broken domestic appliances etc. These extra services that they can provide on-site at the foodbank will help address some of the underlying causes that put people in the position where they need an emergency food package.

£200 - A new bed for refuges. £25 - A new duvet for refuges. £260 - Survey Monkey subscription to gain feedback from groups.

AWARDED A £1000 COMMUNITY GRANT This money could fund: £15 - Support five distressed women on the helpline. £30 - A counselling session for women who have experienced domestic and sexual violence.

AWARDED A £275 COMMUNITY GRANT

AWARDED A £250 COMMUNITY GRANT This money could fund: £185 - Support for 1 family for a month with weekly visits of 2-3 hours. £80 - 1 toy kit and books for a volunteer to take to use with families.

AWARDED A £200 COMMUNITY GRANT The Students’ Union at UWE has previously supported a Julian House Colour Run with volunteers. This money will be spent on sponsoring a Colour Run station for next year, along with providing volunteers this money will directly support Julian House in fundraising further. This grant has been used as an investment to further develop the support it provides.

This money could fund: £160 - Window covering for the same room to allow privacy during breast feeding or other sensitive activities.
