University of the West of England Students’ Union Job Description: Sports Officer Full or Part Time: Part Time Term of Office: 1 year and 1 week commencing last week in June Team: Students’ Union Executive Committee Accountable to: Student Members through Student Council, General Meetings, Sports Committee and referendum Purpose of the Role • To support the Vice President Sports • To support and represent students active with student sports • Provide written report to each Student Council & Sports Committee General Officer Responsibility • The Executive Team is responsible for the direction of the Union in accordance with the strategic plan.

• To regularly obtain feedback from students to ensure that the Students’ Union meets the need of the main stake

holder, the students.

• Up hold the Students’ Union Constitution, policy and vision and values of the Union • Keep up to date with current student national issues • To actively encourage students to be involved with the democratic and election processes of the Students’ Union • To support activities such as AGM, Open Days, Freshers’ and official Union events • To attend the summer training programme Main Responsibilities/Activities of the Role • Provide written report to each Student Council & Sports Committee • Empower all members of sports ensuring they have lead role in the development of Sports Committee • Create a strong network between VP Sports, executives & club committees • To support the planning of Sports Awards • To support the planning of the annual varsity programme • To support the planning and promotion of Sports Night Finance • To help prepare sports budget requests and the allocation of budgets for events Main Relationship and Contacts • The full time Presidents • Equivalent Executive Committees • All Sports Committee members • Sports and Activities Department Internal Committee Membership • Union Executive Committee • Student Council • Sports Committee (Deputy Chair) • Sports Executive Committee • Sports Awards Working Group University Committee Membership • Focus Sport Committee • Varsity Executive
