To make your transition to college as smooth as possible, we have put together important information to help guide you through move-in. We encourage you to begin checking your UWyo email account frequently, as we will be sending out additional information.

DATES DEADLINES

JULY 3: Room Selection Timeslot Notification Email

Note: Students that have selected to live in the Tobin House or Honors House will be assigned their room space by Housing. No room selection timeslot will be provided.

JULY 8 – 10: Returning Room Selection

For returning student who lived in the Residence Halls during the Spring 2023 semester.

JULY 11-16: Living Learning Community (LLC) Room Selection

For new students who have been accepted into an LLC. LLC participation requires housing on specific residence hall floors.

LLC students who do not select a room by the end of the LLC Room Selection will be manually assigned by Housing to a space which corresponds to their group affiliation.

JULY 19-23: Standard Room Selection

For new and returning students who have not selected or been assigned a room space. This includes students who indicated ‘No Preference’ of a LLC on their application.

JULY 24: Room Assignments

Any student with a completed contract but no room assignment at the end of Standard Room selection will be auto assigned by Housing.

JULY 26: Room Notification Emails

Email communication will be sent to students’ UWyo email addresses.

Emails will include hall and room assignment, selected meal plan, mailing address, and roommate name and contact information.

AUGUST 16: Saddle Up / First Year Students Move-In Day

AUGUST 18-23: Saddle Up

AUGUST 24: Move-In Day for Returning Students and first day of housing contract

AUGUST 26: First Day of Classes

Saddle Up

As you begin your college journey, we're excited for you to participate in Saddle Up. Saddle Up introduces students to the demands of college coursework and helps them develop critical thinking, planning, and study skills necessary for future success. This program will also offer students a look into the experience of an academic semester, including participation in classes, student wellness, connection with classmates, managing your time for academic success, and much more!

Saddle Up is required for all incoming domestic, first-year students.

HERE IS A LOOK AT WHAT YOUR DAYS WILL INCLUDE DURING SADDLE UP!

Course Sessions: Attend a class chosen by your college based on your major. This course acts as a vehicle to familiarize students with academic environments at the University of Wyoming, teaching self-advocacy as well as tips and tricks for success.

Skill Sessions: Students will attend skill sessions covering a variety of topics promoting success at UW and beyond. Topics include study skills, time management, mental wellness, and much more!

College Sessions: Attend a session put on by the college of your chosen major! Meet advisors and faculty while learning what to expect as a student within your chosen college. Expect mock advising sessions and fun projects!

PASS Sessions: Peer-Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) provide additional instruction and assistance through course material led by a peer. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and experience peer instruction common in UW courses.

Create & Explore: Participate in fun activities across campus such as swing dancing, games at Half Acre Gym, a planetarium show, or many other options!

Arrive on Campus & Park

Check-In

Before unloading your vehicle, you will need to check-in at a Saddle Up station. After checking in with Saddle Up, proceed to your assigned Residence Hall. If you don’t know your assigned hall, visit Housing, Dining & Residence Life in the lower level of Washakie Center

Students should move their vehicles to the corresponding parking permit lots. For more parking options, visit uwyo.edu/transportation. Parents may park their vehicles in the Ivinson Parking Garage or brown lots indicated on the map

OTHER INFORMATION

Safety

• Residence Halls are locked 24/7 and accessible only to residents with their WyoOne Card.

• Blue light call boxes are located around campus for immediate access to the University Police Department (UWPD).

• SafeRide provides free rides around town to students, download the UWYO SafeRide app!

Food

The University of Wyoming has a large selection of on-campus dining throughout campus. First-year students are required to select a meal plan through Washakie Dining Center. Each meal plan is linked to your WyoOnce card, so you won’t need cash. In addition, your meal plan provides you with Dining Dollars that you can reload to allow you to eat at various locations around campus. Some of our Campus Dining locations include:

• Chick-fil-A

• Variety of coffee shops

• And more!

Parking & Transportation

If you plan on bringing a car to campus, make sure you purchase a parking permit through Parking Services. Permits can be purchased ahead of time at uwyo.edu/transportation or at their office located 1602 E. Spring Creek Dr.

The Univeristy offers an abundance of transportation options to help you get around campus and Laramie. Make sure to download TransLoc app so you can track the buses and get estimated arrival times to your location.

Laundry

Each Residence Hall has a laundry facility located in the basement and payment is made through the ClearToken app. It is $2.50 per load in the washer and $1.75 per load in the dryer. If you don’t have a smartphone, please contact Vending Services at vending@uwyo.edu.

STEP Satellite Center

The STEP Satellite Center, located in the lower level of the Washakie Center, offers free academic support services to students on a drop-in basis. Tutors are available to provide assistance for a variety of subjects. Learn more at uwyo.edu/step.

Storage Lockers

Storage Lockers are located outside the Residence Halls are offered in two sizes, standard and deluxe. Although these lockers are not 100% waterproof, they are great for storing bikes, skis, snowboards, plastic totes, and more! To view dimensions, learn more, and rent one, visit uwyo.edu/storagelocker.

Information Technology

Residence Hall students get free highspeed internet access through direct connection to the UWyo Network or ethernet cables. Ethernet cables are provided at the front desk of each Residence Hall. For more information, or support, call (307) 766-4257, or visit uwyo.edu/infotech.
