Women’s Rising Star Nominee

Eleanor Brown (Kew)

The VAFA congratulates Eleanor Brown from Kew Football Club who has been nominated as the Round 15 Anytime Fitness Rising Star. Eleanor has produced a consistent season in her debut year in the Seniors, as highlighted by her 4 inclusions in the best on ground from her 7 matches played, including this weekend.

What the club said:

Coach, Jess Burger said: “Ellie “Browny” Brown has made an immediate impact in her inaugural year in Senior Women’s Football. Browny’s powerful left foot, terrific footy IQ and relentless gut running has consistently been on display throughout the season.

Spending her time juggling School, Oakleigh Chargers and the Bears, Browny is a well-loved team mate who makes her team mates walk taller out on the field. The Club is rapt to see her acknowledged for her consistency in role and hard work this season.”

Men’s Rising Star Nominee

Joel Chilcott (Glen Eira Gryphons)

The VAFA congratulates Joel Chilcott from the Glen Eira Gryphons, who has received the Men’s Anytime Fitness Rising Star nomination for Round 15. Joel has been a consistent performer across his 14 games this season, scoring 13 goals, including 2 from the weekend.

What the club said:

A product of Mckinnon Secondary College – Joel Chilcott came-up through the Old Mckinnon / Glen Eira U19s program sharing the spoils of the U19s Best and Fairest in 2022. Still eligible for U19s football, Joel has become a permanent fixture in the table topping Glen Eira Gryphons senior squad in 2023.

Boasting a large frame and strength well beyond his years, Joel is among the club’s elite when it comes to attack on the ball and/or ball carrier. His forward pressure has become a hall mark of his well-rounded game as he holds down a key position spot a Centre Half Forward. Glen Eira Gryphons Senior Coach Jon Edgar commends Joel for his coachability, passion and ultimate love for the game which has allowed him to have such early success at senior level.

Club President, Kye Cherian said: “Joel is an absolute pleasure to have around the club, one of those electrifying players that makes magic happen on the field. Off-the field he’s already displaying all the hallmarks of a great clubman and personality to have around. He has a twin brother (Aidan) who is playing great footy in our U19s, and his father (Andrew) and mother (Elizabeth) are regulars down at Packer Park watching their sons play.”
