Daily Detox Simply with SVA

Daily Detox Simply with SVA Apparently detox has become a household term even though our medical experts do not uphold it. This is, for example, what Wikipedia carries about detox: “Detoxification is an alternative medicine approach that proponents claim rids the body of "toxins", accumulated harmful substances that are alleged to exert undesirable effects on individual health. Detoxification usually includes one or more of: dieting, fasting, consuming exclusively or avoiding specific foods (such as fats, carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, juices, herbs, or water), colon cleansing, chelation therapy, or the removal of dental fillings.[1][2] Body cleansing is not supported by science, with no medical benefits demonstrated, and is based on questionable or disproved scientific claims.[3][4][5][6] The toxins are usually undefined, with no evidence (or inappropriately used testing) for toxic accumulation in the patient.[7]”

While safe and tested detox may be a growing yet questionable alternative health choice, we know through Ayurveda, and particularly through SVA, that it is a necessary component of good health. The ancient shastras discuss different types of detox administered at different times of the year, based on many factors that an individual brings, including body constitution, age, activity, etc. Vaidya Mishra, and his SVA lineage, teach that detox should be so smooth and gentle that you should not even feel that it is occurring! The elimination of toxic build-‐up should be evacuated through the natural channels in such a manner that no detox symptoms such as rashes, allergies, or intense mood swings, etc should occur. In addition, detox should be a gentle yet continuous process, without having to interrupt one’s daily ©Adishakti LLC, 2012. The information contained above is for educational purposes only. routine. Gradual and continuous gentle protocols yield better and more thorough results, especially because they do not distress the physiology. Vaidya has been lecturing and teaching about simple and safe home detox protocols for the past several years. Many who follow the SVA protocols witness to experiencing gradual yet certain improvements. Unlike other protocols, the SVA detox protocol aims at supporting the body’s own natural detox intelligence, awakening it through allowing it to work as it is meant to. This is done through eliminating food items that may be blocking its activity, and then supporting it, in a minimal yet significant manner, with herbal supplementation whenever needed. Resetting the body’s own detox clock is what it is all about. Because if the body’s natural intelligence is not receptive to detox, nothing that is ingested or cleansed will work. In this sense, Vaidya has put together for this issue, very simple steps that you can follow without having to fly across oceans to exotic panchakarma clinics or detox destinations. You may do so for touristic leisure of course – after completing your home detox! Daily Detox Recommendations These recommendations are for healthy individuals who would like to enhance their health by adjusting their diet and routine. If you have been diagnosed with a medical condition or are experiencing any discomfort, chronic or otherwise, you must consult with your medical doctor. Do not attempt any type of detox programs. SVA Daily Detox Simply: What to expect? What does the SVA detox protocol target? This program is designed to help support and reawaken the body’s own intelligence in the colon, the physical channels, the vibrational channels, the liver, the skin, the emotional heart and the mind. In other terms, the SVA protocol will cleanse and support all these levels, simultaneously, whether your target is only one of more of the above, because every aspect of detox should be coordinated with all the others for a smoother, effective, as well as pleasant cleansing process, where you will experience lightness and a feeling of being well in your own body. In terms of detox, our greatest source of toxic build-‐up may be occurring through food. This is not just about ingesting foods that are laden with chemical preservatives, or foods that have artificial flavorings, etc. Our awareness to avoid these has already developed and we already try to steer clear of these. But ingesting food that is resulting in the build-‐up of toxins giving you body aches and a foggy heart and mind can result from eating the meal you made yesterday and did not want to throw out. Or it may result from eating the foods that are not recommended for your body type – Ayurveda gives us scientifically verifiable recommendations on this topic. In addition, your toxic condition may be resulting from not coordinating your mind with your stomach, so that even if you are maintaining an ideal satwic diet and routine, you are still producing toxins out of what you are ingesting! Below are easy practical steps you can readily adopt and continue for the next 7-‐8 weeks, until Summer arrives, since ©Adishakti LLC, 2012. Spring is the best time for releasing build-‐up in your tissues and organs. The protocol below gives you guidelines for one week, and you can repeat it with variations over the future weeks. It focuses more on the weekends when you may have more leisure from work or work related activities to make changes to your diet and routine. Friday Start your full protocol on Friday evening but initiate it in the morning by having less salt on this day in all your meals, starting with breakfast. If you can, avoid completely adding salt whenever possible. Salt enhances absorption and retains water. We want to reverse both situations in order initiate the process of releasing. Let your lunch be light but nourishing with a good portion of cooked greens, with a light grain such as quinoa or barley. Try to avoid protein and bread. You may have an apple or a pear or some sweet juicy berries by 3pm if you feel hungry. For dinner: make the asparagus and mulli detox soup with the kulthi lentil and barley. Asparagus and mulli will support the detox process through the urinary system, kulthi will disintegrate amavisha and garavisha hardened micro-‐crystals and barley will act as a good binder to evacuate the accumulated toxic build-‐up. You may also have a side of grain made with 50% quinoa and 50% rice, cooked with a few cardamom pods, some ghee and water.

This is for the diet part. Notice you may choose any vegetables and food items to eat except the ones SVA recommends not to consume, such as the night-‐shade family (tomato, potato, eggplant, bell-‐pepper), onion and garlic, mushrooms, etc. You can also support your detox process by supporting your circulation in order to aid in the elimination of toxins. To enhance circulation on the vibrational level to help evacuate toxins, use: DGL and SuperSport TD on your arms and legs and your lower spine, morning and evening. During detox, you may experience the sudden appearance of toxic emotions and/or thoughts, long forgotten memories that come back to haunt you out of the blue. A good night’s sleep is very important during detox to help reset the physiology emotionally and mentally to be able to cope with the all the layers of detox. If you need support for a more restoring sleep, choose any of Vaidya’s Soma Nidra products based on your needs (Roll-‐on, Oral Spray, Aroma, soap, tea, etc). You may also read more about the SVA perspective on sleep in our newsletter issue by pasting this in your seach engine: http://www.chandika.com/blog/2012/02/vaidya-‐mishras-‐ newsletter-‐4-‐volume-‐2/ Here is another key aspect of any successful cleanse: the elimination of toxins through the bowels. Based on your kostha or physical make-‐up, you may choose the product that suits you best. Have High Pitta Triphala if you are a high pitta person and have slower bowel movement and need help and support to evacuate. If your bowel movement is slower but you are not a high pitta person, then you can take regular Triphala tablets, 2 a night before bed. If your bowel movement has the tendency towards constipation, then have SVA Lax (mild), start with 1 capsule and increase to a maximum of 2 per night. ©Adishakti LLC, 2012. To enhance the support of elimination through your bowels, you can also apply Prakrit TD cream on your lower spine and lower abdomen before bed. During your Daily SVA Detox, you may have Moringa tea and Moringa soup every day. You can have the soup for lunch and for dinner. The tea can be had in the morning and one cup in the afternoon. Saturday Breakfast: start as always withyour stewed apple and/or pear with a couple of cloves. Then you can make the quinoa flake and apple recipes if you are craving sweets. Otherwise the quinoa flake upma if you are craving salty. Have a cup of Moringa tea along with your breakfast. Around 10 am, if you are hungry, you may have a snack. You may make a light watery Moringa soup with mung dahl, with masala and chili/ginger optional, less salt and less fat (olive oil or ghee). Prepare this when you are preparing your breakfast and carry with you in a thermos. Are you craving for a sweet snack instead? Try organic dry figs soaked in water to help moisten them. You can also add a handful of almonds. For lunch: have a vegetable mix with 50% green papaya (peeled and chopped) and 50% lauki or another other summer squash (such as zucchini or yellow crook neck) cooked with very little Soma Salt, Mum’s Masala, and a dab of Olive oil. Accompany that with Rice and quinoa (50/50) cooked with some ghee and cardamom. Use Pitta Masala if you are high Pitta. ©Adishakti LLC, 2012. If you tend to have a big appetite, you may also make rotis – Indian flat-‐bread, with either wheat flour or alternative flours such as barley, oat, quinoa, etc. Add Lassi with Takra masala to your lunch – 20% yogurt with 80% water, a pinch of salt and Takra masala. During the weekend, you are reducing or eliminating the intake of protein (chicken, fish, or paneer) to give the physiology and the organs some rest from having to digest more complex foods, as well as to allow the channels an easier detox process. By 3pm, if you are hungry, you can have a fruit salad made with berries, apples, pineapple, papaya, pear, you may add a pinch of salt to help digest their somagenic properties, squirt some fresh lime, sprinkle some Mum’s Masala – this is optional. Then for dinner, make a light kitcheri with quinoa, rice, mung dahl, brocolli rabe, raisins, and Moringa soup mix. If you are still hungry, make a couple of rotis. Continue with the same transdermal creams for the channel protocol, and the same protocol for colon detox. If your bowel movement has improved by Sunday morning, then do a self SVA Marma treatment with DGL and SuperSport TD creams, followed by an abhyanga massage with Vata oil with Vit D and Magnesium. After Apana Vata is guided to move in downwards properly, this marma treatment and the abhyanga will pacify the Vata dosha, further nourishing both physical and vibrational channels. ©Adishakti LLC, 2012. Sunday: no salt no fat day! This may be the most challenging yet best day for you, as you will try to abstain from eating both salt and fat. For breakfast, you can start with your stewed apple/pear and if you are still hungry, then the quinoa flake pie – cooked without ghee. If you are craving salty food, make the quinoa flake upma with toasted pine nuts. For your mid-‐morning 10 am snack: make Moringa soup with mung dahl without salt and oil, with chili and ginger optional. Prepare this when you are preparing your breakfast and carry with you in a thermos. For lunch: repeat Saturday’s program, but you can change the vegetable (use cauliflower, or asparagus, or broccoli, or white cabbage, zucchini, or a combination of these), but add not fat and no salt. Weekdays: During the weekdays, add some shredded coconut, or coconut chips to your diet. For lunch consume your protein of choice, paneer, or chicken if you are vegetarian. Besides Moringa tea, if you are high pitta, drink Pitta Tea and add Pitta Masala into your cooking, otherwise, use Shroto Shudhi masala and Shroto Shudhi tea to help support your channels further. For Kapha body types or Kapha imbalances, you may use Vaidya’s new MedAgni Takra Masala. Use ¼ to ½ tsp while cooking your protein or vegetables, or add simply to your Takra (buttermilk) drink (80%water and 20% yogurt). Try to give yourself an abhyanga massage every morning with Vata oil with Vit D and Magnesium. Also, for the duration of all ©Adishakti LLC, 2012. 7-‐8 weeks use Ida/Pingala and Karna oil to support the cleansing of the vibrational channels. Try to stay away from multi-‐tasking, hectic daily routines whether mental or physical. Don’t go that extra mile, just not yet! Make sure you do not skip your meditation and/or prayer, do these at least once a day during the morning sandhi – around and right after sunrise if possible. If, during detox, you start to experience less hunger or slow digestion, add Mum’s pickle to your diet. Kledak kapha may get imbalanced through the release of toxins and you want to avoid making fresh toxins out of undigested or semi-‐digested food. For Pitta body types, toast some fennel seeds and chew before and after meals, throughout the day. For Vata types, you may apply Pachaka Balance Transdermal Cream on your stomach, morning and evening. For all body types, including Kapha types, if it is lunch time and you feel you have still not digested your breakfast, make a mixture with fresh shredded ginger, Soma Salt, fresh lime juice, and a pinch or two of Mum’s masala and add to your lunch or dinner to avoid the fresh build-‐up of ama, or undigested food toxicity. If, on the other hand, you start to feel too hungry, add Amla and Tamarind Preserve along with the Pitta Tea and Pitta Masala to your diet/routine. Optional for hair and skin: If along with the above detox dietary guidelies, you would also like to support your skin to detox, use the SVA Detox Soap or SVA Turmeric soap. In addition, you may use Vaidya’s Pre-‐ biotic Body CreamClay and Pro-‐biotic Body Cream. For the ©Adishakti LLC, 2012. The information contained above is for educational purposes only.
