Toxic Mornings No More! SVA Practical Detox Prep Tips You may already be feeling it: suddenly you are furrowing through your closet in search of things to throw away, you are roaming around in your living space looking to de-clutter, caught in a joyful frenzy to clean up so that by the time you finally fling your windows wide open for that sun-lit Spring air, you have made space for the new and the renewed in your life. But you may also be experiencing it on a more physical level in your own body: less stiffness, less heaviness, more flexibility, a certain feeling of overall lightness despite not having lost any weight, or worked out or changed your routine in any way whatsoever. A physiological sense of being well in your skin that even affects your overall mood. What has happened? As the deep dark cold of winter days gives way to the fragrant warmth of the Spring, the sunlit days grow long on us again and temperatures climb, leading our shrunken circulatory channels to dilate, thawing toxic build-up, and initiating the physiology into a natural detox mode. In nature, things become very pretty as pulsating life once more flows freely through the plant kingdom, spreading colorful and fragrant blooms everywhere. It始s a recurrent annual event, timed by Mother Nature, that embraces all aspects of life on every level. We, as humans, are not only an important part of this annual transformation, but we can also chose to become central players by maintaing and supporting Nature始s re-awakening, or delay and impede it. Because unlike other aspects of creation, we, as humans, can make choices.
Bud into your New Life We tend to forget that we are part and parcel of Mother Nature始s cycles of rest and activity, or decay and renewal. We tend to get caught up in our own cycles of aberrant rest and activity based on our work schedules or other urgent aspects running our lives. In ancient cultures, most rituals were all about remembering and re-aligning ourselves with the changing cycles of time and Nature, so that we could get full benefit in our lives. Forgetting or ignoring the seasonal cycles in Nature and in our bodies can result in challenges (physical, mental, emotional) in our activities. However, when we make a conscious effort to incorporate them into our daily lives,

when we are in-synch with our surroundings, our biological clocks are set to the greater cosmic clock that keeps the earth as well as the galaxies running, then all can flow smoothly and unencumbered. Or almost! Spring time is the best time to support the natural process of annual detox and it can happen simultaneously and smoothly, but thatʼs only if we allow it. And there are many ways in which we become our own obstruction, unwittingly, to total health. In SVA detox protocols, there is a step called “Purvakarma” - meaning: everything one should do before going through the actual steps of detox. Based on Tri-Sutra Ayurveda (“Hetu Lingam Aushadhi Gyanam”), one first needs to identify the “hetu” or root cause or factor of a problem. In other words: • Hetu: locating all the sources of toxins, • Samprapti or pathogeneis: which organs or which channels are primarily affected, holding or facilitating toxic build-up • Lingam or symptomes: what symptoms of toxic build-up are appearing Every individual will have a different “hetu” but many symptoms or affected organs may coincide. While we may be prepping our bodies for Spring detox, we may also, at the same time, without knowing, loading it with fresh toxins and chemicals daily. For a successful total detox, it is at least necessary to stop the on-load of new toxins at their origin, before the detox of the body can be successfully initiated. While we tend to think of food as the primary route to detox, as well as one of the primary culprits for toxic overload (over-eating, eating the wrong foods, eating more before the previous meal is digested, etc), there are also other means through which the body is acquiring toxins, specially in this day and age.
“Water Water Everywhere, and Not a Drop to Drink!” Early morning: what is the first thing we get into contact with after stepping out of bed? Water. Have you ever stopped to consider the quality of the water you wash yourself with? How much toxic residues or chemicals does it carry? The most common toxin we expose ourselves to through water is chlorine. Chlorine is a very powerful cleansing anti-bacterial and germicidal

chemical that can have dire consequences on our health. The best example is to put chlorinated water into a fish aquarium, within a matter of minutes your fish will die! Exposing yourself day in and day out to chlorinated water results in many health imbalances, and not just on surface level. Chlorine is a highly agneya chemical that gets transdermally absorbed and can penetrate deep into your tissues and eat up your Soma as well. Lower levels of Soma reduce our immunity, invite inflammation, and a wide array of imbalances that get aggravated with age and time. What can you do? At least for your daily showers, you can use a good filter for your water, or as a substitute, the common trend is to use ozonated water, as the process of ozonation is safer than the chemical overload of chlorinated water. But our morning routines involve a lot more toxic chemical overdose than just the water we wash in.
Save us from our Daily Chemical Ritual Have you ever stopped to consider the personal care products you use every morning, starting with your toothpaste, your shampoo, your soap, your shaving products and/or make-up items, and what they contain? We know by now that transdermal absorption is tantamount to oral ingestion, in fact it is even faster as it bypasses all the digestive organs and systems and gets directly delivered into your blood stream. The truth is you may slowly be poisoning yourself through your daily ritual of hygiene. How? Does your toothpaste or any oral care product you use have any caution about swallowing or incidentally ingesting? Does the caution indicate you receive immediate medical attention? Trans-mucosal absorption is very powerful in that it travels very quickly to your entire body. Put anything in your mouth and it is in and all over you. Many toothpastes contain toxic chemicals ranging from artificial flavors to nasty foaming agents to acidic preservatives. The use of toxic elements in toothpaste is based on the misconception that not swallowing the product will be fine. But when it is in your mouth mixing in with your saliva, it is already being absorbed, fast and deep.
SLS Besides your toothpaste, foaming agents are also found in your shampoo or shaving soap, or body soaps. As the industry gets wise about concealing the unwanted ingredients in search of enhanced sales, the toxic ingredients appear under the guise of different natural sounding elements, but they still have a very damaging effect on your cellular system. For example, SLS, an artificial foaming highly toxic agent can recur under the following different names: • Sodium Laureth Sulphate • Sodium Lauryl Sulphate • Sodium Olefin Sulphonate

Or take the Paraben family - a highly toxic preservative found in toothpaste and many other personal care products that are to be avoided by all means. Research shows that Parabens mimic the female hormone, estrogen, creating confusion in womenʼs bodies, specially young teenage girls, with an increase in premature breast growth and hormonal changes. Parabens are also thought to be partly responsible for the decrease in male fertility and the rise in testicular cancer observed since the 1950s. Make it a point to use formulations that have been preserved only through natural and organic means, such as Vaidya Mishra and his SVA line of personal health care, where he uses a secret ayurvedic technology or preservation known solely to his formulator ancestors. Here are different types of Parabens you may encounter, and sometimes when you are really lucky, you get all types of Parabens in a single product! • Methyl Paraben • Ethyl Paraben • Propyl Paraben • Butyl Paraben • Iso-butyl Paraben
Fluoride But if we stay with toothpastes, there is yet another lethal ingredients: fluoride. Taunted for its beneficial support in the re-mineralization of teeth, you can nevertheless find many articles in the national medical library on fluoride toxicity, where most concur that fluoride intake promotes cancer. Research indicates that fluoride also interferes with optimal brain functions, reducing the IQ. Fluoride is a known neurotoxic.
Artificial Colors, Fragrances and Flavors Beside toxic preservatives and additives, you must also be weary of artificial colors and flavors in your toothpaste. These are made in the lab from artificial molecular components which disturb the intelligence of the cellular system. Long term usage can result in local or general damage to different tissues and/or organ systems. Artificial colors are generally made from coal tar and petroleum. In the 1970s Dr. Ben Feingold substantiated a link between food coloring and the hyperactivity of children, although the FDA dismisses his work. Many toothpastes claim to be natural, but they, in fact, are preserved with Formaldehyde. In addition, more often than not, this ingredient is not mentioned on the list of ingredients. Formaldehyde is a highly reactive chemical that combines with protein molecules and causes irritation and allergies in the oral mucosa. Sometimes it can even give headaches, or cause irritation in the eyes. Some researchers suspect that Formaldehyde could cause cancer or birth defects and research is being conducted in this direction. And itʼs not over yet! A very important source of toxic overload results from the scents that we inhale. Artificial fragrances can be carcinogenic - they are potentially cancer causing. They can Copyright Adishakti LLC 2012. The information contained herein is for educational purposes only. It is not intended to be used to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any diseases. also result in hyper-activity, irritability, inability to cope with stress, result in behavioral changes. Pure essential oils should always be preferred. So if you were to start prepping for Spring cleaning and decided you would start by throwing away one of the toxic personal care products you were using, which should the first one be? Start with your toothpaste by all means! A bad toothpaste can contain some or most of all of the above mentioned chemicals. There are many so called natural toothpastes out there nowadays, but then you want more out of a toothpaste then just a bodiless paste to brush your teeth with, donʼt you? What if your toothpaste contained herbs that enhanced and balanced sugar and protein synthesis in your oral cavity? What if your toothpaste created an environment that discouraged the further growth of bacteria? What if your toothpaste contained herbs and spices that helped restore your oral cavityʼs friendly bacteria, maintaining a hygienic balance?
Oral Care Products to Suit your Fancy Two years ago, Vaidya Mishra made two kinds of toothpaste with all authentic ayurvedic herbal ingredients with side benefits, preserved by essential oils, with no artificial colors or flavors. We keep getting rave testimonials about Vaidyaʼs SVADANTA Oral Care products, but here is testimonial that just came in from Dr. Lisa Raskinʼs 1 clinic from Texas only a few days ago. She says: “Two patients mother and daughter. I think it is also a combination of the diet and herbs.....BUT The daughter had gum and teeth problems her whole life. She is almost 30 now. Root canals. Gums separating from teeth. Always inflamed and very painful. NOTHING worked. After one week on your toothpaste she felt better. ALL the inflammation is gone. Her dentist even commented. Mother has had the same experience. They cannot live without the dental products.”
So what’s in Vaidya’s toothpastes and oral care products that makes them so unique and powerful?
