2015 FIS ALPINE WORLD SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS February 2-15, 2015

4th Alpine World Ski Championships ever held in the United States (1950, 1989, 1999, 2015) Only location in North America to host three Alpine World Ski Championships. 2nd largest skiing event in the world behind the Olympics.


WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS Vail & Beaver Creek will mark the third time that the Vail Valley has played host to this prestigious event. The World Championships represent the largest and most impressive collection of ski racing talent in the world, second only to the Olympics. 800 of the world’s best ski racers representing over 70 nations. 1,800 members of the international print, photo, radio and broadcast media. More than 70 countries will carry the television feed. 2,500 volunteers. An estimated 20,000 on-site attendees per day for the races swelling to approximately 30,000 for weekend competitions.

ABOUT THE GAMES

GoPro Mountain Games , Vail June 4 – 7, 2015 The GoPro Mountain Games are the nation’s largest celebration of adventure sports, music and mountain lifestyle featuring top professional and amateur athletes from around the world. The environmentally-friendly adventure sporting event hosts 3,000 outdoor athletes, along with an estimated 50,000 spectators. Athletes converge on Vail’s mountains and rivers to compete in nine sports and 25 disciplines for over $100,000 in prize money. Events include kayaking, rafting, stand up paddling, mountain biking, road cycling, World Cup Bouldering, amateur climbing, fly-fishing, trail running, the slackline world championships and a half marathon. Additionally: the Outdoor Reels film series; the Mountain Click photography competition; an interactive expo area, Gear Town; DockDog canine competitions and free concerts at the Mountains of Music. 2015 will mark the 14th anniversary of the GoPro Mountain Games!
