COLOR

In 2021 the Vilar Performing Arts Center restored its year-round programming to include all genres ranging from Broadway to large format rock bands all the way to international classical sensations. The venue also reinstated vital community offerings including STARS, Underground Sound, Community Arts Access, and more. Throughout the year the theater hosted a wide range of events, and even expanded its classical music offerings, expanding on its role as a purposeful and clear leader among performing arts centers throughout the nation, and bringing color and vibrancy to our community.

CONNECTED In 2021, the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater opened

earlier in the season than ever before and hosted a more dynamic and complete season of events than at any time in its history. An upswell of community support, and a need for outdoor venue spaces, allowed the venue to reach new heights as a gathering place, a center for the arts, and a jewel of the Rocky Mountains.

The move we make

TOGETHER In the weeks leading up to the 2021 Vail Dance

Festival many artists and organizers felt a mix of elation and trepidation. In a year when nothing felt certain, it was unclear how this ambitious version of the Vail Dance Festival, which sought to accomplish more in less time than ever before, would actually transpire amid all the challenges, and how it would be received by an audience that had not seen in-person Vail Dance Festival performances since August of 2019. All of those questions were answered on Opening Night, and a flood of gratitude and support lifted the 2021 Vail Dance Festival to new heights.

OUTCOMES The 2021 GoPro Mountain

Games was among the first events in the world to welcome international athletes and spectators to gather once again. The event was filled with the exuberance that can only come from a return to one of the best all-around mountain experiences available anywhere in the world, and it was punctuated by three nights of incredible concerts at the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, an elevated artistic component, the return of the ever-popular DockDogs, and more.

Audi FIS Ski World Cup returned to Beaver Creek. The athletic performances on the mountain were as awe-inspiring as the camaraderie and community on display throughout the event. At the 2021 Xfinity Birds of Prey, we united to create a positive impact during a very important time year for all of us in the Vail Valley.

THEIR WAY The challenges and secondary effects

of the pandemic continue to be a major factor for Eagle County’s youth and families. Recovery has been especially slow for young people who are struggling academically and social-emotionally. Thanks to exceptional community support, YouthPower365 has been ready and responsive. We have launched initiatives like AmeriCorps Peak Pathfinders to meet new needs and grow our capacity to have a positive impact during this critical time. YouthPower365 has also been investing time and resources in strengthening our continuum from early childhood to college and career readiness; whether

Each of our program participants has been affected in a unique way by the additional difficulties posed by the pandemic. Each individual is navigating their lasting primary and secondary effects in their own way. Throughout this process, reliable guidance from trusted mentors and teachers has been incredibly important. Of all the years that VVF has been providing education programming within our community, never before has our work been more important to ensuring that every young person in our community has the support they need to find a successful way forward. Together, thanks to our exceptionally generous community, we are making an incredibly positive impact on the lives of all our young people and families.
