About Career Pathways
Whether you prefer to be in the spotlight or behind it, sitting first chair or in the sound producer’s chair, Valencia’s Career Pathways program offers you a head start on a college degree in the arts. By completing a Career Pathways program at your high school, you’ll earn free college credits at Valencia. Your credits can be applied to a related arts and entertainment degree, and may be applicable to other Valencia degrees as well.
The Career Pathways Process Take these steps to receive college credit for your high school courses: 1
eet the high school requirements listed in this brochure for either drama M or music. Note: required high school courses must be completed with at least a “C� average.

Take and pass the Career Pathways assessment related to your area.

Graduate from high school.
4 Enroll at Valencia and complete at least one college credit course. Note: your free credits will expire if this step is not completed within two years of high school graduation. 5 After completing one course at Valencia, your Career Pathways credits will be awarded to your college transcript.

Talk to your guidance counselor for a full explanation of high school requirements and to learn how to receive three additional college credits for working as a technician in high school drama productions.
Related Valencia Degree: Associate in Science in Entertainment Design and Technology Salary: $33,000* | Job Placement Rate: 100%* Valencia’s Entertainment Design and Technology degree program is one of a handful in the country, and the only one in Central Florida that trains students to work in all facets of the entertainment industry. It prepares students to function independently and as part of a creative team in the preparation and production of live shows for concerts, theater, theme parks and corporate presentations. Related Valencia Degree: Associate in Science in Sound and Music Technology Salary: $27,000* | Job Placement Rate: 75%* Valencia’s Sound and Music Technology program provides a background in both the artistic and technical sides of music and sound production. Students have the opportunity to study studio and live sound techniques, post-production and MIDI, as well as musicianship and performance. They can also get hands-on experience through Valencia’s own student-run record company, FlatFoot Records. This practical approach provides real world experience in a wide range of settings, from theater and soundstage to studio and post-production. Potential Careers: • • • • •
