Students will apply principles of design and typography to plan, produce and present individual and group projects typical of those used in the graphics and digital media industry. DIG 2430C Digital Storytelling 3 credit/3 contact Minimum grade of C in ART 1300C or TPA 1380 or department approval. The course focuses on the use of narrative forms in interactive media and other new technologies. Students will explore and create non-linear and interactive sotry structures. MUM2630C Sound for Media 3 credit/4 contact An introduction to the principles of sound recording with an emphasis on media applications. Students will work on practical projects that will familiarize them with the basic hardware and software used in professional settings. • Basic acoustic principles: The sound wave, speed of sound, frequency, amplitude, power. • Microphones, sound boards and signal flow • Basic principles of digital audio: Sample rate, bit depth, dynamic range, aliasing. • Basic studio procedures: Handling microphones, stands and cables. TPA 2252 – Intro to Audio Visual Production 3 credit/4 contact An introduction to the audio visual technology and practices of the entertainment industry. The course will focus on the set-up, operation and troubleshooting of basic audio visual equipment including video and slide projectors, monitors, computers and projection screens. Major Topics

Requires a minimum of 10 hours per week for a production or pre-production assignment. DIG 2580C – Digital Media Portfolio Review 1 credit/2 contact Minimum of a C in DIG 2950C (Digital Media Project) and GRA1413 or minumum grade of C in DIG 2291C or deptartment approval. Creation by the student of a final digital portfolio summarizing the student’s body of work. The student will design and complete a resume, self promotional piece and undergo a formal interview with industry professionals. Students will be expected to earn a C or higher on a comprehensive exam using industrystandard software and procedures. Major topics: • Development of an interactive on-screen portfolio/reel. • Development and improvement of work in individual student por tfolios and organizing content of portfolios so that understanding of design, typography, creativity, concept development and technical proficiency is demonstrated in all pieces. • Perfecting the content of resumes and designing resumes for t raditional and digital environments. • Designing personal identity system: resume, letterhead and business card and website/DVD. • Designing a self-promotional piece as a send-ahead or a leave -behind. • Comprehensive Exam • Interviewing techniques specific to the industry, how to present an interactive portfolio/reel and common mistakes made during theinterview process to avoid.
