MEASURING MY CRITICAL THINKING Average Think Survey Scores Correlated with Average GPA and Average Credit Hours Surveys Administered Between August 25, 2005 and Feb 2, 2006 N=2,143 Description of Study: Measuring My Critical Thinking is an on-line survey based upon the indicators of Valencia's core competency Think. The survey was administered 6,333 times between August 25, 2005 and February 2, 2006. To determine if a pattern of correlation exists among the scores, the following steps were taken: • The scores of students who took the survey more than once were removed. • The scores of individuals with no credit hours were removed to be reasonably sure that faculty members' scores are not reflected in the following correlations. Findings: For each results category (beginning, developing, competent, and accomplished), average scores found to be positively correlated to the number of credit hours and to average GPA. + Results Category

Next Steps: Continue validation of the survey instrument • Pursue the identification of new students' scores • Conduct analysis of the observed increase that may be due to attrition shift. Learning Evidence Team 1/18/2008
