Portfolio about my shoe design course I took in Jerusalem, Israel at the Bezalel university
2021
Concept
The key aspect discussed in my project is the christian orthodox architecture.
Inspired by the monomentous golden cuppolas that are percieved infront of the background of a cloudless blue sky. The main component of the
design are the towers throning on the tip of a church.
In Russian churches, cupolas are often topped by onion-shaped domes,
where crosses are mounted. These domes are called „heads“ (глава) or
„poppy heads“ (маковица, маковка). As from the inside the cupola creates a space that symbolizes the sky insted of a flat ceiling.
The upper component of the shoe was designed digitally. By the technique of laser cutting the gote-leather was shaped.
Afterwards pulled on the last, and finished off with heels made out of wood.
